sorry bro but there is NO SUCH THING AS FORCED PVP in this game, Jedi system included. It was your decision to unlock your Jedi, which means that you knew you would be hunted (regardless of what system was in place, bounties on jedi has always either been implemented or said to be coming in the future). If you don't want to be forced into a PvP situation, simply play like everyone else and don't pick up Jedi.

I hate seeing all these Jedi whining abuot the "forced pvp" when it was their CHOICE to take Jedi. When you choose to take something, you are consciously taking the good WITH the bad.

What page in the rule book that was purchased with the game does it say if you get Jedi you acknowledge you are willing to participate in PvP? I think I missed it on the box or in the rule book.

Pursuing a profession is not choosing PvP, no dialog box comes up after you hit Padawan that says you are now PvP, deal with it. You are confusing the choice of profession with being allowed to choose PvP. If you want a Jedi in a MMORPG you dont get to chose to opt out of PvP, you have to PvP period.

sorry for caps, but geez the Jedi just don't stop with the insolent, immature, pointless arguments.

Ok since the average Jedi is not better then any other elite combat profession, and the 3 week visability issue, that means if you want to progress with your Jedi, dont play it (Since playing it will force you to lose XP), now they are down to one character. I personally could give a damn about the extra slot, I just wanted to play a freeform Jedi, not PvP or have an alt, but hey I didnt get a choice with that either, as I would refuse the extra slot for the option to opt out of the GCW and BH hunts.

You are way to intense for the smuggler board! Go back to the Jedi board with you! (just kidding)

Yeah, I agree...if you KNOW that taking a certain SPECIFIC action will lead to PvP then that is NOT "forced PvP".

Choosing tobecome a Jedi doesnot result in forced PvP any more than choosing to bean overt Rebel or Impresults inforced PvP...they are EXACTLY the same thing. For ALL practical purposes Jedi is a third overt faction...and ALL players know that when they become Jedi.

What was suggested in the original post IS forced PvP since merely logging in could result in PvP...and could result in PvP over and over again despite your desire to play with no PvP.

Ok this is what I knew in Media play buying SWG:

"Follow your own path with skill based advancement system, which accommodates your style of play whether you become a Bounty Hunter or a Dancer or a Merchant or even a Jedi"

There was no disclaimer saying, chosing Jedi will result in you becoming PvP, so the selling point made Jedi sound like any other profession.

Only after you start playing or investigate the boards do you find out the reason you paid $30 and then $15 per month will result in you having to PvP.

Now if you point out where in the packaging, rulebook or any other material that was sold in the game box where it says, chosing Jedi means you agree to PvP, then I will gladly accept that, but guess what it dont exsist.

you're right that it doesn't say anything about Jedi being tracked by bounty hunters in the packaged material.

But, neither does it say ANYTHING about Jedi other than it's a remote possibility. If we were to go by what was advertised and what was packaged in teh box, there would be 10-25 Jedi per server, not the insane ##s we're currently seeing.

Also, since it had absolutely no specifics about the Jedi profession WHATSOEVER, logically you would have to go on what the devs say when implementing the system. When Jedi first emerged, the devs told teh entire community in various forms about Bounty Hunter missions. BH missions on Jedi and other players was a system designed, planned on, and advertised well before any Jedi showed up in any of the servers.

Therefore, my argument stands that when you choose to go Jedi, you are choosing the possibility of being hunted. If that doesn't sound fun to you, there are other ways to enjoy yourself in this game. I'm sorry that you had to be "uber" and then whine since you don't have it exactly the way you want.

sorry my friend but you don't get to customize or develop this game

if you want to play a jedi in any way other than how it's been implemented, choose a different game.

I'd also like to add that I didn't get this game to PVP, nor was Smuggler a Forced-PVP Class at first like Jedi was. So this idea can go in the City Dump for all I care.

Sorry I just dont agree, the Devs forced PvP when they had pringinally said PvP would be purely consent based. I wanted to play a Jedi to play a Jedi in an MMORPG, I did not consent in any way to PvP other then it being a condition of being a Jedi, period but I did not ask to be PvP it was infact thrust upon each and every Jedi, and you can say picking Jedi is picking PvP but that is likewanting a driver licence but you have to drive a Pinto, did you chose the Pinto? Now some folks pursue Jedi for PvP, but some folks have to play it as a result of wanting to be Jedi.

Oh and once again tell me how this phrase formt he box makes Jedi sound like a special profession and not just last but not least in wording

"Follow your own path with skill based advancement system, which accommodates your style of play whether you become a Bounty Hunter or a Dancer or a Merchant or even a Jedi"

"or even Jedi" doesnt make it special it is a copywriter mixing things up they could have just as well used "become a Bounty hunter, or a Dancer or a Merchant or a Jedi" but that drags the sentence and doesnt flow well so they choose "or even" from a copywriter point of view all those professions were advertised equally. It also does not say or imply as you put it;

"But, neither does it say ANYTHING about Jedi other than it's a remote possibility. If we were to go by what was advertised and what was packaged in teh box, there would be 10-25 Jedi per server, not the insane ##s we're currently seeing."

Nowhere on the box does it say this, it places Jedi in the the weight as Bounty hunter, dancer and Merchant and the printed material in the box doesnt even mention Jedi at all, so I fail to see where it says Jedi are a remote possibility, I think your going off knowledge of the game and not the packaging.

also you said "Also, since it had absolutely no specifics about the Jedi profession WHATSOEVER, logically you would have to go on what the devs say when implementing the system. When Jedi first emerged, the devs told teh entire community in various forms about Bounty Hunter missions. BH missions on Jedi and other players was a system designed, planned on, and advertised well before any Jedi showed up in any of the servers."

Again this is not what was advertised in the packaging, period you cant debate it. You either have to look at the website or buy the game to find out there were special rules attached to playing Jedi, but as far as the Point of Sale packaging it implies nothing unique concerning any profession and I chellenge you to quote from the Point of Sale materials otherwise. So buyers can get a big surprise when they load SWG and want to build a Jedi from scratch.

"Therefore, my argument stands that when you choose to go Jedi, you are choosing the possibility of being hunted. If that doesn't sound fun to you, there are other ways to enjoy yourself in this game. I'm sorry that you had to be "uber" and then whine since you don't have it exactly the way you want."

Nice you think I am whining cause I came up with a system that keeps Jedi out of peoples face without griefing, forced PvP, but of course that would also prevent bullies from preying on Jedi who cant possible win, were not talking a 50/50 fight we are talking 100% lose, lose, lose a padawan cannot beat a BH that can hunt them, period this has been proven time and time again, also fact losing XP and being the only one with any kind of loss in PvP puts you at a distinct disadvantage. If you lose nothing but time and buffs for dying what risk is there, any BH would and logically so fight to the death as the BH has nothing of value to lose, but the Jedi has massive amounts of XP to lose and has zero motivation to stand and fight in a battle they can't possibly win, or be motivated in anything but fights they KNOW they can win.

Being Jedi isnt about being Uber as I said if I was (I know I dont have this choice please dont point it out) able to opt out or was given the choice to be PvP or not, I would not. I do not duel, I dont care about PvP. So if I dont care where does this come into play:

"I'm sorry that you had to be "uber" and then whine since you don't have it exactly the way you want."

I just want to fulfill my dreams of playing a Jedi in a non-scripted Star Wars game, I could give a damn about being Uber I never strive to be Uber I strive to have fun, Uber can go to hell that is for 12 year olds who dont like girls and have to vent that furstration somewhere. I'll bet that if you took a scientific census on age of players in SWG the older folks on average will be the Jedi and the younger folks the Bounty hunters it may not be a huge spread but I can see from the posts in both forums (Which of course is a small sampling of the actual gaming population) that this is the case, and here since it seems FD is such a grief to BHs with nothing to lose.

  • Any player may access the Bounty Terminals to place a Bounty upon any other player.

  • The minimum bounty price shall be 100k. (there is a 50% placement fee on top). Cost to place a 100k bounty is 150k.

  • A player may only have 1 bounty on the terminals at a time.

  • A player may not accept a bounty he has created himself.

  • A smuggler may slice the terminal to attempt to remove a bounty once a day.

  • If the smuggler fails he is placed on the terms for the amount of the bounty he was trying to slice off. This does not remove the previous bounty.

  • If the smuggler succeeds, the bounty mission is removed from the boards and deleted from all BH's that currently have it.

  • If a bounty hunter is killed by anything or any reason, the BH's current mission(s) are deleted but not removed from the terminal.

  • Once placed a bounty cannot be revoked, unless it is removed from the terminals via a smuggler.

  • Add a "Report Jedi" option off of the radial menu's examine option, where players could report a Jedi once a day infinitely, but only when they are within sight of the Jedi. (Replaces current visibility parameters).

  • A Jedi is placed on the terminals after 100 reports using the current Bounty Pricing system.

  • When the BH finds his/her mark, the mark has the option of paying the bounty to the bounty hunter in order to remove the bounty (new code for interface). This bribe must exceed the bounty cost by at least 20%.

  • Mission resolution, via bribe, success, or slicing clears any jedi visibility currently on mark.

This doesn't fit the definition of griefing, as it costs the person placing the bounty. Jedi reporting should be off the radial menu of the jedi character, meaning you actually saw him/her. This would reduce griefing of reporting that jedi you saw three weeks ago cause he's in another guild, even though you didn't see him today. This also allows for players to police the game themselves. A player buying all your custom orders for others? Place a bounty on his head. Someone harassing you and calling names? For a fee you could have him taken care of. This would also allow Jedi to group, but if they are noticed by other players they may end up reported and on the terminals. Known helpers of Jedi could also become targets of bounties.

Kudos to Anxdiety for the majority of the ideas.

Instead of only 1 player putting in the bounty, I think it should require MULTIPLE Players entering the same bounty to get it to appear on the BH Terminal, say 10 or more players putting in a request for the same mark. IMO

Why all the objections to "Forced" PvP? I am a master artisan and novice combat prof. There's no way I'd be able to stand toe-to-toe against an experienced Bounty Hunter. If I die, he gets money, I get some wounds (more if I didn't pay 1000 credits to clone) and all my items lose 1%. That's not a very big penalty. I probably wouldn't bother paying the 120,000 credits (on a 100,000 bounty) to bribe the bounty hunter not to kill me unless I was a Jedi with a lot of experience to lose.

So what's the problem, Slarus? Line up for your beating and take it. When you get an e-mail stating that there's a bounty on your head, take your composite armor and your uber-DX2 off and stash them in the bank until your beating comes.

Also, Anxdiety, I'd prefer the role-playing interaction of begging for my life in front of the bounty hunter and bribing him to report that I'm dead to just paying off an e-mail.

Do you mean you think the game should include forced PvP? I like most of your suggestions, but this one is kind of harsh. Not only is this unfair to people who don't PvP, it would instantly be a tool for griefers. I can just see griefers spending all their time putting up bounties on artisans they don't like or just want to mess with.

We already have forced PvP, it's call the Jedi, but the 15 bucks they spend is not that same as everyone elses so theyc an be forced.

NO ONE should be forced into PvP, period. Not for the sake of some silly concept of timeline or revenge, that kind of PvP only brings out griefers and bullies nothing good EVERY comes of it and it hasnt here either, consent PvP allows folks to choose, after all we pay for this, why should we pay to get abused?

You get the point. The Jedi are not subject to forced PvP as they made a choice knowing full well what the consequences are for that choice, nothing forced about it. Those Jedi need to stop whining about it or change professions if they don't like it. And before any other Jedi come to this thread and troll, I am all for smugglers being subject to the bounty system as well. It would definitely make us feel more like smugglers.
