Perhaps the reasons they didn't convert were that Knives stacked and that Clamps were Slicing IV only, and perhaps discriminated against lower level Smugglers.

Gith knew he was dreaming, but he didn't care. Like all things, he rode this good time without worrying about the 'whats' or the 'whys' or the 'hows'. Throwing credits around the hotel in Coronet witha particularly horny Zabrak on his left arm and a sinewy Twi'lek on the other, he smiled to his friends as they cheered for him. Even Airdew was there, dancing in the corner. The combined effects of the pixie, muon and booster that rocketed through his system lifted him to new heights of awareness...

BEEEEP!!! BEEEEEP!!!! BEEEEEP!!!! BEEEEEEP!!!!!

Gith rolled out of bed, grabbing his DX2 on the way, pointing it automatically at the door to his bedroom as he put his back to the wall. The faint glow of the accent lights showed him the familiar shapes of the furniture and nothing else. As the fuzziness of sleep faded quickly, he realized that it was his fire alarm going off that had woken him up.

"Poodoo."

He headed to the door, felt it to make sure it wasn't warm and then hit the over-ride to open it. His antechamber was clear as well... and the door to the greatroom was also cool. He over-rode the antechamber door and peered out into the greatroom. Smoke was curling up and around the large statues in the 10-meter high space and he could hear the crackling of fire.

Grabbing an extinguisher from a closet, Gith raced downstairs and saw flame licking through the doorway to his storage room. He blasted the fire with controlled bursts from the extinguisher until the flames had died down. All the time, he tried to think of what might have caught fire in there... there was only those storage containers and that technical console that he picked up at that swap meet in Bestine... it wasn't even powered, for crying out loud.

A pungent, heady scent hit him suddenly. It was almost as strong as a pixie downer and he had to grit his teeth and will his empty belly to be silent. Wax. Lots and lots of melted wax. He saw now that four of the storage containers were blown open from the inside and there was melted wax spilled all over everything. in the main storage room, it was a full meter deep, the technical console an island in the little wax pond.

Gith frowned. Wax? Where the blazes did THAT come from? The only thing in those containers were all of those laser knives that he'd gotten last year from Sobek.

Weird.

"I've got a bad feeling about this," Gith muttered.

Do the new looted comps for slicing stack or do I need to place 10 factories?

AUK's and WUK's discriminate against all smugglers we can not make them, they are made by novice armorsmith (auk) and novice weaponsmith (wuk).

Also is the fact I'm a master smuggler and get better slices that a novice descriminating?

PLK's, FAN's and Clamps should have had the option for the conversion because smugglers made them.

Personally I think it's all a bunch of poodoo.

I left the game over 6 months ago....then started missing it so I came back....it's worse than when I left it.

As for people saying I'm lazy....I'm a smuggler...I'm supposed to take the easiest way out...not placing myself in harms way if I can help it.
Now your saying the only way I can slice is to go looking for even more trouble....well they can have it.

One more broke aspect of this game in my records....stupid Slicing crap...creatures that are all level 1 (0) this game is going to hades in a handbasket in my point of view.

I don't mind working for a better slice. What I do mind is being forced to camp loot spots for the basic materials to fulfill the duties of my profession. Why not make us use good resources and make experimentation mean something on our tools? Forcing those of us who are primarily non-combat into combat is not the kind of change we were looking for.

After all, smugglers generally avoid fights if they can. They sure don't pick them.

Nice story Alpha_Bits Welcome piece amongst the often dry forum reading

I think the main problem is that they are moving more and more towards anon-crafted item driven game. The items from Kashyyyk quests being a primary example - the Actis fighter is an awesome piece of kit that easily beats the player made dog-fightersat tier IV.

Its almost as if people who just don't get the whole idea behind a player driven economy are now calling the shots and the decline in number of crafters selling decent gear since the CU on the 3 galaxies I am on tends to support this view. Most MMPOGs are loot driven, sadly seems to be a trend infecting SWG nowadays. Overall I am now won over by the CU but this is one element I am not struck on - and I prefer playing combat types that do well from a loot/quest system so it isn't because I am a crafter.

I have no problem with any of my stuff not being converted what I have a problem with is having almost a complete tree worth of skills, loot depened, NO OTHER PROF has this limitation.

Why be upset?

Slicing is not not a necessity in the game. It is instead a luxury to those who can a) afford it b)get the items or have friends that can.
