Man, this thread bought a tear to my eye! I can't believe there is any other profession in this game whose members are as passionate about their jobs as smugglers.

/Cheer Smugglers!!

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

It's changing in Publish 10. Besides. I'd much prefer the Vendors.

Wow! Lots of useful and interesting feedback.

The reason I asked is that I am exploring professions because I want to try as much of what the game has to offer as I can. I came back to the game about a month ago as an old-school Master Bounty Hunter. Yes, all the specials work and everything but I was left with a feeling of "now what do I do"? Since they'd relaxed the BH requirements I had some points free, learned Master Pistoleer, eventually went with the Desperado/Rogue/Master Pistoleer template and decided that since I had taken Novice Commando for the Launcher cert I'd have a go at mastering that too... did that, loved flamethrower and LP, dropped the other trees and mastered smuggler.

So now, as it stands, I am a Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer/Teras Kasi Novice. I'm going to master TK next, but I've found Novice Medic to be so useful and always regretted having to drop it. I plan on keeping Master Smuggler for as long as I can, but I am not involved in the GCW or PvP at all (and don't plan to be until they fix such a crucial part of the game) so the entire Underworld tree, for me at least, represents points that could be better spent elsewhere. From a role-playing perspective, I don't see where mastery of a trade is essential to my character in particular, but it's good to hear from die-hard smugglers. Deep down in my blood I feel the same way about BH - but who knows, if and when we see a smuggler revamp it may be the profession I enjoy the most.

I forgot all about 1/2 FP. Thats fun too, knowing when a non-smug kills you after you kill them you still come out ahead pointwise.. I think.

Although, for those looking for a different explanation (and I do agree that most are Smugglers, first and foremost) it does add a ranged knockdown (which comes in handy if you use, say TK as your primary profession :smiley-wink: ) and some variety in making credits. Realistically though, most Triple Masters are Smugglers, they just add the rest.

Unfortunately, the Ranged Knockdown is not a Master Smuggler skill, so there's still the question "What does Master Smuggler" add.

It adds... Master Smuggler!

Ummm, what does Low Blow do then? (Ranged KD as in Ranged attack, not Melee Attack with Range)

Depending on what you started with, the Triple Master Could mean anything. Like you were a TKA and picked up smuggler and liked it enough to master it and then got pistoleer to round it out. Or you were a Pistoleer who wanted the Smuggler Specials, then decided "what the heck" and mastered smuggler and picked up TKA. Etc.

I personally started this game - in beta 3 - intending to become a Master Smuggler. Once I did that, I started on both Pistoleer and TKA. Finishing Master Pistoleer first and Master TKA in early January.

Recently though, I decided to finally start selling my own smuggler goods, so I dropped master and 2 trees in Pistoleer and picked up Business IV in Artisan. I had done it before while I was early on in the game, so I understood how to get it and enjoy using it.

I will never drop Master Smuggler in this game. It's who I am.

I'm a smuggler because that is how Ienvision my character making his living.

I'm a pistoleer because it is how I envision my character protecting himself.

I'm a TKM because it is howmy characteractually protects himself and makes money.

Rebalance pistols so they are as effective as TKM, and I'll drop TKM for something else. (Maybe keep Meditate 4 If I could... )

If you don't want me to "play the forums," then I suggest you make time playing the game more rewarding and less repetitive than "playing" here!
READ THIS before telling me I cannot complain about Smuggler
