Thread: Triple Master What does Master Smuggler really add?

The template of TKM/Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler is a common one and it's widely stated to be very effective in combat.

But can anyone tell me what Master Smuggler adds to this that Rogue alone would not? Wouldn't it be more combat effective to do TKM/Master Pistoleer/Rogue and use those 43 remaining points for something else?

And if that is the case as I see it (Slicing and Spice making are nice but not necessary for combat, and underworld is meaningless unless you are part of the GCW), where would you advise the remaining points go? (Novice Medic is a definite good idea).

Absolutely nothing. The only reasons I keep master smuggler is to have an increase in possible slice percentage and hope that one daywe'll get revamped.

Simply put it adds a way to make money and a fun RP template.

It's your job.

A friend of mine went back to being a BH after they recently changed the skill requirements. He had other combat professions, but the way he explained it they weren't really a job for him. They didn't really define his character. They were just a set of bonuses and specials for killing stuff.

Needless to say, I agreed. If someone asks me what I do, I say I'm a smuggler. I could drop it all except Rogue, but then what would my job be? Master GoatPuncher? Faction Farmer?

Granted, most of our profession is missing or broken, but it's still what I am. I'm a smuggler.

If combat is all that you're interested in then just get rogue. The other trees are noncombat. The rest of the skills are what makes a smuggler a smuggler. Combat is only one aspect of the game. The rest of the template gives you an income source and a great role play template. And triple master is a hoot to play!

Good luck

I use the triple master template because a) I have always been a smuggler since this game started so I will never drop master smuggler as long as I play b) Because its the most effective way to use the smuggler prerequisites as far as I can see c) Lots of roleplaying opportunities

I don't view smuggler as the addition but view Pistoleer and TK as the addition. I see myself as a smuggler that took fist fighting to the extreme and decided to become proficient with a gun. It may be a bit of a backwards view but I see TKM and Master Pistoleer as professions which support my smuggler.

It adds nothing but with that said you need to understand that peoplewho do this for the most part areMaster Smugglers first and formost. TKA and Pistoleer are added to make Master Smuggler more effective not the other way around. I never use my master tka or pistol title I only wear my Master Smuggler title because Im a Smuggler not a Pistoleer or TKA, that is the main reason (for me anyway)for more then the rogue line only.

When I finally came to my senses to quit dabbling Smug seemed like fun to master and it was. I farmed 95% of my containers, cause i actually enjoy every fight in some way.

Locked Conts were what made me decide to go smuggler, (thought I had some ph@t l00tz lol)

I'm addicted to slicing so bad that I can never give up MS. Not slicing for the public but just slicing off the bazaars anything under 5k. (I dont mind bad slices cuz w/out bad slices how can you ever get excited about good ones?) I spend hours sometimes just staring at the galatic bazaar looking for unlsiced I can resell. mainly advanced scouts and DL44s. This is not a good way to make money but its simple and i'm not always in a very social mood when I play. Kind of a handicap for a master smug but RP in a Doshlike way.

I already loved pistols from day one so mastering that was fun too. It took me a while to realize that a Trando's destined for unarmed so it was just natural for mine to lay down his pistol for a while. i cant decide if I want to Master TK because I love Suppressive Fire (ranged support 4) so much. Timed out with lowblow and panic its like SWG version of "root".

I always wear the Rogue title. It seems to fit my playstyle. If people really need a slice, they'll breakdown and ask a Rogue, and are usually willing to pay without complaint, desperate, usually more plasant to deal with when they have to ask a Rogue if they slice.
