I have to say the dirty fighting techniques attracted me at first, then as I looked at the other stuff they could I just thoguht tres cool. The stuff we can do (sod the stuff we can't do at least for now 
) The stuff that happens to us (see the thread "A chuckle for the smuggler"). And the RP prospects, an Imperial smuggler/Armoursmith, they'll never suspect a thing Muhahahahaha.

I'm a smuggler because when I saw the movies and read the EU books the characters that spoke to me were the 'underword, shady types'. Those who lived outside the law and make their way with a good blaster, quick reflexes, and a rapier wit.
My SW heros are the rogues: Solo, Calrissian, Kaarde, Terrek, most of Wraith Squadren. These folks did amazing things, and not cause they were a devotee of some 'hokey religion'. They were just that good. I do agree, that smuggler is all about attitude. It's a mindset, a way of thinking. Talon Karde and Prince Xizor built empires through force of will, cunning, and natural power. Not relying on some mystical 'force'.

I'm going back to smuggler, yay! I left it because I wanted to be good at fighting. Now I realize I'm screwed if i PvP anyway with all the new jedi poppin up. So i figure what the heck, I loved bein a smuggler and I only got to 2424. Gonna stick it out to smuggler/pistoleer/tkm, don't really care i bought a 400k rifle a while ago.

I'd like to say I'm a Smuggler because Talon Karrde is my role model...which is true...
But the real reason I became a Smuggler is becuase one of my friends got ripped off in game once. Back in the day, when you could /setCurrentTitle to whatever you wanted, and your average FWG was going for 25k, and 25k was actually ALOT of creds, my buddy handed his brand new FWG to a "Slicer" who immediately pointed and laughed, then took off running.
I'm listening to him in a Yahoo voice conference and he was more than slightly pissed. After that, he basically talked me into being a Smuggler. And since I hadn't actually decided what I wanted to do in the game yet (I was still a Novice Scout / Novice Marksman), I figured "What the hell..." and went to work to become a Master Smuggler.
After I finally reached that mark, I became more involved here on the forums within the Smuggler community and I just couldn't let it go.
Now, I look at it like this...if I wasn't a Smuggler, what else would I be? When I ask myself that, I look at the other forums and realize that there's not another single profession in the game that just calls out to me.
Bottom line: I'm a Smuggler, not because I chose the profession, but because the profession chose me. The Smuggler community is the greatest, most close knit group of people on the forums. And...of course there's the whole Talon Karrde thing...
I love this forum...

Smuggler Forum is by far the forum that feels like 'family'. Sure we may debate and sometimes bicker but when the time comes we have solidarity. As a good friend of some said on Sunrunner 'For we are legion'. I know that this community has my back and I know that one of my foum family get's jumped on my some 'other profession' that I'll jump in swinging.

Originally, I wanted to be a smuggler so I could slice my own stuff.
Now, It's something I enjoy. The interactions with people can be fun.
Nothing like having a 500 pound Twilek dancer hug you while screaming "YES" over and over because you got a 35% damage slice on her pistol.
Pus, it's a nice way to make money if you don't feel like running missions on a given day.

It's just plain cool...
I like to slice items (although I do not believe this service has been provided the respect it deserves), I am anxious to get into the FP trade, and I look forward to the future of the prof.
I have found that I have a rare Smuggler template, as my current main is a Master Droid Engineer - I look forward to making Master Smuggler in the coming weeks and perhaps combining the two effectively with some hopeful revamps?!?

When I first got this game last year there were two professions that called out to me. Smuggler and Bounty Hunter. I had just started reading the EU at the time. In particular Tales of the Bounty Hunters and Tales from both Mos Eisley Cantina and Jabba's Palace. Needless to say I became very interested in both bounty hunters and the underworld. My first choice was bounty hunter but that limited you options for other professions. This was before the dropping of most of the scout requirements. I just remember being very into the Tales of the Bounty Hunters book and wanting to do something along those lines. I would eventually get to Novice BH but never much farther.
Then I left the game for a while. After about two months I came back and decided to start fresh so I deleted my BH. I decided to experiment with other professions. I tried the entertainer professions and artisan professions but I missed fighting. I remember liking pistols best from when I mastered marksman for bounty hunter so I knew I would go for pistoleer but I wasn't sure what else. i decided on smuggler after reading through the Chuckle for a Smuggler thread. Great stuff. It is amazing what you guys get away with because you can just chalk it up to roleplaying. I knew I had to go for smuggler.
I've always liked Han Solo but never as much as you guys seem to. My personal favorite smuggler isn't in the Star Wars Universe. My favorite is Malcolm Reynolds from the TV show Firefly. If you have not seen this show I know you will enjoy it. He is a similar character to Han Solo. If you want to see the show you'll have to get the DVDs because the show was cancelled halfway through the first season. Pretty sad really. Another case of people not knowing a good show when they see one.

the reason i am a smuggler is simple.. i love it.. its the best prof in the game and it even fits my personality in RL.. i just love bein it.. its gonna suck when ppl just do it for the revamp, thats gonna make me mad. but o well, what can u do ya know?

But...HOW have you not been reported for that name yet? If the name filter didn't grab it, some CSR should have jumped on that long ago...
Not looking to cause a problem, but technically you are in violation of the naming rules. And if some CSR does ever happen to decide to give you a new name, you lose ownership of everything you have. Just to forewarn you...

My favourite characters in Star Wars are pilots, Jedi and smugglers. Until JtL's released, I have the Xwing series for one and KotOR/JK:A for the other.. where else am I gonna get the third?
