As someone who's working on a post-Cu Smug on another server, I too miss slicing and spice crafting. At least it broke things from time to time and you could work on slicing and spice crafting while hanging around the cantina. Someone pointed out in game the other night that they had a pack full of locked containers they had put aside to help a smuggler novice,, but now you just hand them a pistol and point to the hills.

Hello, I must be going. I cannot stay, I came to say I must be going. I'm glad I came but just the same I must be going.

Man, the glory days, sitting by a faction mission terminal, with 3 crates of molecular clamps, 3 crates of laser knives, and 5 or 6 hours of time to waste. *slice* whistle for 85 seconds *attempt to slice* "you must wait 5 second(s) before you may begin to slice this terminal" dangit! and so on through out the day. Have the occasional rube come up and ask if you were a master smuggler even though you have a novice smuggler tag above your head. "Hey, I heard master smugglers slice better than others, can you slice this krayt flame thrower for me, I paid alot and want the best" reply with: "no, go away" *attempted slice* "You must wait 45 second(s) before you may being to slice this terminal" DANGIT! I think I spent close to 700k on resources to grind that....and spices. Man I love pistol and combat xp, WHOOT! But I can't wait for the slicing mini game, it'll bring back some flavor. BTW, I was gone for 14 months, came back and my characters are still there.

I think this is one of those things you're really going to have to answer for yourself in the long run. Has the game changed? Yes. Very much so. The CU, despite the gloom and doom predictions that many put forth prior to its release, hasn't been anywhere near the game-killer it was predicted to be. For myself anyway. There are things that I love about it, this I like, parts I'm not crazy about and aspects I despise. Then again, ask an entertainer or an armorsmith and you might get a completely different response.

Hey just a point from someone who just returned after a 4 or 5 month absence Id say do it. The combat systemis completly diffrent I feel like a frikin noob, and I kind of like it and as a side note my character was still intact. Also apparently if you have houses or anything they start drawing from your bank once there maint runs out so you still may have all your stuff too!

Come back, Shane, come back!

Seriously, if you do lose your character and cash I'm sure that any smuggler in this forum will be glad to help you out if you go to their galaxy. And let me know; I have a sure fire way to go from first log in to Novice in just a few hours. All you need is a partner, a CDEF pistol, a gazillion Sewer Worrts, Tame Rills, Kreetles and NO training beyond CL 5 until you hit your pistol xp limit.

Welcome back; we will be glad to see you!

note, games rarely ever do server wipes. Only big huge games do it. I quit ultima 2 years ago and all my chars and inventories are still there. Same with alot of other mmos. My advice is to try one month. pvp is fun now, but the whole game is jedi-centric it seems at times...

This is true, but thats only because of the Jedi Fury that everyone feels, and the need to try and pull in new customers. It's the true players who decide that the FS path isn't for them, and that it's much more fun to play a different class. After all, every SW universe story needs a smuggler.
