Thread: Question for the community: Worth it to come back?

I was a master smuggler back in the glory days when smugglers were few and far between, mostly because the profession itself was about as viable as squeezing a tangerine to save oneself while falling off the empire state building. And I wonder now, is this game now good for smugglers? Should I come back?


P.S. If some of the people don't remember me, look in the chuckle for the smuggler threads, I'm in there quite a few times...

I think this is one of those things you're really going to have to answer for yourself in the long run. Has the game changed? Yes. Very much so. The CU, despite the gloom and doom predictions that many put forth prior to its release, hasn't been anywhere near the game-killer it was predicted to be. For myself anyway. There are things that I love about it, this I like, parts I'm not crazy about and aspects I despise. Then again, ask an entertainer or an armorsmith and you might get a completely different response.


If the revamp has legs, it too will bring some fun back to the game. Personaly, I'm not that jazzed about the slicing mini-game, but if it'll fix one of our traditional roles in the game, bring it on. I'll be happier once I get a chance to explore the smuggling content that's been proposed.


I too have been around for the long haul and I have found that the game regains a lot of its shine when you come back from a long break. I've done it twice. Both times, I was wise enough not to make a big announcement that the game had failed me and I had finally come to my senses about the blah, blah, blah INSERT COMPLAINT HERE... I just stopped, cancelled my subscription and did other stuff for awhile. Then, when I got the urge, I came back.


Is it worth it to come back? I'd look at it this way. You probably ended up paying $15 to catch Episode 3 once you factor in the popcorn and the Milk Duds. For that, you were probably entertained for 2 hours with a decent, if not not great movie. For the same price, you can check out the game for 30 days and, if you didn't get your $15 bucks worth of fun out of it, and don't forsee yourself getting that much out of it next month, just walk away again. No muss, no fuss. Question answered.


That's the way I'd look at it.

I have been a smuggler on and off for the last year. Not much has changed... The CU gave us modifiers and last ditch has changed drastically...

I have seen your posts before, and in my opinion, return to your smuggler brethren!

Well then, let me pose this question to you... The Jump to Lightspeed thing, how fun is that for smugglers?

There are some smuggler missions in space, nothing big...

but...

Let me say this... YT-1300 Transport... Modified YT-1300 Transports - with the possibility of future YT-2400 transports.

If that doesn't say "SMUGGLER" I don't know what does.

It is when they do a mass cleaning of the servers to delete characters that have been inactive for a while, usually comes with alot of hoopla by the Devs so they can get people to log in there alternate characters so they won't be deleted.

Whoah... No idea. I do know that a friend of mine who quit the game for almost 6 months came back not long ago and still had his character. That is as far as I can help ya.

Awesome, six months ago is near to when I quit, (possibly closer to 8-9 but who is counting), what I am worried about is A: My Master Smuggler will be gone, and B: His 10 million in the bank will be gone... but from what you said I feel pretty confident it is all still there =)

Lets hope your "Smuggler Luck" is with you.

If not, look on the bright side, you dont need to grind spices or slicing xp anymore, its all pistol xp. I always considered the worst of the grind was the slicing xp.

Oh come now, I enjoyed the slicing portion... go back to the chuckle for the smuggler thread... as you can see I enjoyed abusing people =)
