Thread: Slicing Armor
I sliced up some of my old (post CU) Recon armor (5k, 7k base). Next time I logged in, the stats had been upped +392 in kinetic, energy, heat, cold, acid, and electricity. My modified hindrance went from 0 to -1.4% movement, -2.8% accuracy, and -4.2% rate of fire.

Every time you slice a piece of armor, it'll add hindrance. So basically you can expect to move slower, shoot slower, be less accurate etc... fun, eh? Makes you want to run and get your armor sliced right away... not.
True, but if you can find armor with 5477 protection or less you can slice it and still be able to wear it at no penalty (if you are a master in your combat profession.) So in other words, you might be able to get that near-6000 armor on the cheap by buying lower and slicing it.
5477 is what I calculated from the threads on the Armorsmith boards, I haven't tested that exact number yet.
Slicing makes awesome armor bad, but it makes good armor awesome.
Some people have said that they don't see the stat changes until they log out, and log back in.
Try that, and see if you notice the stat change.
If it's still not changed, 2 possibilities:
1) Your armor was so good it was at the stat caps, and the slicing didn't do anything to it. Since slicing is screwy now and does seem to be effected by the hard caps on armor and weapons.
2) You handed it over to a respecced Smuggler who doesn't know what the heck they are doing, and they cut the wrong wire... Basically failing the slice, and making no improvement.
Allo, mate!
Strange thing happened to me. I spent a fortune for a great suit of Imperial Scout armor, then after bio-linking it I sliced the helmet. It told me I recieved an effectiveness increase, but no stats were changed.
Or so I thought.
I put the helmet back on and... Bam. Armor hinderence. Apparantly, I increased the hinderences on my helmet by a few percentages, so now my attack speed and movement and what not are all slowed by around 1-3% when I wear my helmet.
Shnazzy.
Cooooooooome on slicing patch!
