Thread: Slicing Armor
Can a non-armorsmith use a schematic to create an upgrade kit? If so, does it have to be in a factory? To use a factory, does that mean u have to own the factory?
I would like to be able to slice armor, while generating the materials myself (like the upgrade kit).
(I do have artisan skills, just not armorsmith.)
thanks,

Can someone tell me if this actually works properly or not? I have sliced a bunch of pieces of chitin now and rarely do I see a change in the stats of the armor. Normally I do see the changes if its effecting the efficiency, ie ham costs, however when it increases the effects of the armor I almost always see nothing different in the stats from before and after.

The reason why you don't see a change to the overall effectiveness of the armor is because the armor stats don't show tenths of a percent.
If the overall effectiveness is 4%, and you do a 25% slice... 25% of 4% is a whopping .01% increase.
If the overall effectiveness is 15, and you do the same 25% slice, 25% of 15% is a whole .0375% increase.
The issue is, you're multiplying a percent by a percent, not a whole number. That's why you'll see the HAM costs get affected since they're a whole number, but not the overall effectiveness percentages.

Actually, a 25% increase of 4% effectiveness becomes 5% effectiveness ((4x0.25)+4)
A 25% increase on 15% effectiveness becomes 18.75% effectiveness, I dunno if this is rounded up or down.
And now that youve mentioned it, ive not tried looking at the armour if the effectiveness is increased, all I know is that encumbrance is definately lowered since ive been able to wear armour that I couldnt wear at one point. Ive yet to check the effectiveness increase.... ill have to keep an eye out.

Yea? Double check the numbers. The percentages are off. Slicing is broken.
