I think a bigger issue is with Multi-passenger ships in general is the fact thata pilot is not allowed to fire blasters.Currently it is not a viable option to useaYT-1300 or any other MPS by yourself. I know when I found out about this, I was greatly disappointed.

Heh, I solo'd every Privateer mission up to 4443. They can definitely be done solo; you've just got to have skills

Maybe I should post about why MOST smugglers won't be able to fly the Corellian Engineering Corp. YT-1300 model freighter.
Especially if they're casual gamers thatview themselves strictly as neutral and do not PvP to have their fun.
And whythe chance to"recreate that whole Han Solo persona" might be impossible for the people that can't grind fast enough to get the Master's box before theBanthapoodoogets too deep.....
But there's already a thread on it in the JtL Discussion forum. Views both ways. I'll simply see what it's like when I get there and maybe we'll see.

When did you start? I got into beta late and I've been trying to level privateer and it sucks. I got my beta disk a week ago last Monday and I'm only 2111 privateer. Just so you know, I think they tweeked the missions and they are a lot harder. It took me a week to do the last tier one escort mission. Right now, I've finished one of the second tier missions and the rest are completely impossible for me. I get killed about 3 seconds into the mission from all the missiles. The one direction about the game I find disheartening is the trend towards favoring guilded players. Guilded players can always find groups, but when you are on your own, in my experience, a lot of the game is out of reach. I'd like to do something like the Corvette or the DWB, but so far I've been unable to get into a group to do it. And after playing beta, I see how it's only going to get worse. Guilded players will have no problem getting ships and groups to level, solo players will be stuck flying junk...I've given up on getting a YT...and I'm almost given up on even seeing the inside of one. I figured Beta was my only chance of getting some time on one, and now it don't look like that's going to happen.
I'm pretty close to quitting this game.

What he said. ^ Evidently you did all of this before the uberfied missles, because right now as it stands it is IMPOSSIBLE to survive some of the missions. I'm serious... 4 waves of 4 ships that all shoot missles? When you run out of counters during the second wave? Privateer is a joke right now, start a new character and try it again, you'll see. I seriously recommend everybody steer clear of privateer for now, unless you have 4 people that will help you with all of your missions past T1.

Yeah, but you did 3/4 of that before they jacked up the AI, changed the flight dynamics, and gated some of the missions. ![]()

Well i started out this beta thinking ok im a rebel i have to do the rebel pilot stuff. Then i found out i can do freelance even though i was a rebel. So now im picking back up Master Smuggler. One mission i thought was hard was the second 1st tier mission where you have to fight 2 tier 2 ships and 1 tier 3 ship!!!! I was like W T F!!! But after my 3rd try i finished them off. And those ships that shoot missles(the bombers) take them out first..on any mission. the only things to kill me were those and now that i go for them first i can take them out quickly and the rest is cake.
But about the YT-1300 being master. Thats fine with me. Now needing more than 1 person to effectivly pilot and shoot well its a drawback but its realistic. Thats the way that ship was built. Should we be able to modify that in some way..sure. But remember its a cargo ship. Not meant to be a fighting machine. The falcon was modified overs many years.
Those of you not in guilds. Get in one. You can be solo within a guild. Remeber its always good to have contacts. You never know when you may need them. Start up your own freelance smuggler guild. Get something going. The tools are there..now put your imagination to work and make the best out of it and your gaming experiance will be alot better. Now get out there and have fun

For the record they are fixing the missle spam and also it always helps to get the equipment line before you get a new ship chassis. I got 1211 and with a better shield gen I was able to scrap buy with liberal use of my boosters.

Well I got into Beta about a week before they had the PvP weekend, whenever that was. After that weekend they did a character wipe, and since then I've been working on Privateer (except for the past week I haven't logged into Beta as I haven't had time). It took me about two days to get 3333, and I did everything solo.
They unintentionally made missions harder when they changed flight models, AI, missiles, etc, etc. They've toned most of the missions down though. /shrug Maybe I'm just that good of a pilot

Tier 3 mission 3 was ungodly hard. Unending waves of enemies (no joke, you can kill 30 waves and they'll keep coming), half of them have missiles, and you've got no less than 8 on you at a time.
Trust me, I dealt with the uber missiles, and that was before countermeasures worked at all. I still beat the mission solo. If I had had countermeasures the mission would have been a joke. Flight model changes effect me for about an hour, after that it's business as usual. AI is still dumb as hell.

I'll say it again, AI is still too dumb, and flight model changes effect me for about an hour.
Gated missions doesn't make the missions harder

Maybe you are a better pilot than me, if that's important to you to know, but since I get killed 3 seconds into the mission when four tier 4 bogies (the disrupt shipping in Dantoine mission) all let fly missiles at me at once, I suspect my inferior piloting abilities aren't responsible. The same four bogies who turned up at the space station where I spawned to repair and kill me again several seconds after I leave the protection of the space station. Since you are obviously a better pilot than myself, would you please explain what tactics you would use in this situation to overcome these odds?

Load up on countermeasures. I've gotten 15 in one pack, I'm sure with the right materials and experimentation you could get higher. They're the best thing anyone can have in their ship next to a reactor, engine and weapons.
One of the nice things about having a ship with interchangeable components is that it allows you to tailor your loadout for a specific mission. If you had trouble the first ten times, take a hint and try it with a different configuration. I know that when I first tried the tier II missions I got blown out of the sky regularly and often. I upgraded some components and adjusted my tactics slightly (as soon as I see a spawn, I now dive and roll wildly for a few seconds to help throw off missile lock - they seem to get it instantly), and that made all the difference in the world.
