Thread: 3 x Failures in a row?

There actually is the possibility that something bugged the game. I have actually had failed clamps a couple times in the game. Once was for a scatter pistol. That from what I saw was one of the oldscatters that used projectiles and abph. So I simply assumed there was some nerf and the game wouldnt let them slice properly. Another time was on a tusken rifle that read as kinetic you know the bestine one. So maybe the bug is specific because something was wrong with the acklay bones you put in. Were the bones you used serialed and not some borked stat?

Though I would like to agree with the other posters and pass it off as a act of vandalism or pettiness. I just cannot see why he or she would do something so obvious. Why risk a post on your galaxies forums about him being a criminal, or being inept. Worse yet getting the mark of cain with other players.

I would say the smuggler was atleastinept the first failed slice would tell me to stop sliceing, and tell the customer I am sorry I appear to be bugged, and this slice failed. Then I would promptly hand the customer back the items, and tell them to wait as I logged out of the game and back on to correct the hiccup, if they did not feal safe with that. Then I would suggest they wait a few days, and I would file a csr ticket as to the glitch.

The fact that he continued to slice while haveing total failures tells me that this person is obviously someone you have wronged perhaps on an alt account, and that is not unheard of. It just goes to show that when it comes to high end stuff. Use a smuggler you trust. Not just any guy you pick up on the street.

My bet would be that he didn't have any clamps or metal on him and he couldn't bo bothered to track any down. But he also didn't want to lose the opportunity of makinga quick profit. So he guessed. I do the same, but only on mission terminals...never on a customers goods. That's just wanton recklessness.

The other thing that always makes me laughis the way that once you fit your clamp and are told which baby to cut, if you need to leave the slicing window for any reason, say to makeknives, the system flips the highlighted wire...as if the system wants you to fail. Never ceases to make me smile.

I've only ever mis-sliced combat equipment once, on a friends Jawa Ion. I felt so amateurish

Nothing much to add over what everyone else has on clamps. Have to say that I have never had a failure in 6 months odd tho.

Either his English was awful and he couldnt read the box or he didnt use clamps and guessed. No other reason given that amount of failures.

But he shoulda given you for free, did he ask for the money up front?

I know there have been posts by smuggling n00bs about here complaining about failiures and saying they were using clamps,

Its always turned out they've used 'em and then not even bothered to notice the text window has changed to indicate what wires to cut.

What can you say? Some people just have no common sense.

Perhaps we should design a list of 'smuggler shopping rules' for customers to use as a guide

Lesson #1: Never, ever get slices from Coronet spammers.

Or maybe he wanted you ruin your items....

Used a clamp to know what wire to cut and he cut the other one....

In the entire almost 18 months I've been a Smuggler, I've messed up on a total of four slices. Twice due to lag, and twice due to just being tired and not paying attention to what I was doing. And, NEVER have I messed up on more than one slice for a single person. After the first mess up, it's generally a good idea to get your head back in the game, slow down, and pay close attention on the next one.

In the few events where I did mess up a slice, ALL of the slicing that I did for that particular order were free, and I often offered to pay to replace the messed up piece (up to 10k). And I always offered a sincere apology, as well.

Sounds like you happened to run into some new Smuggler, who probably mastered the profession in a week, but didn't master the little subtlties that go with it...

For the Smuggler profession as a whole, I apologize to you.

I'm guessing the guy just doesn't know what he's doing.

I've run into players out there who hav been Master Smugglers for months, and thought that you attatch the clamp and start cutting wires. What's really bad was when they didn't believe me when I tried to set them straight.

Then there's also the guys out there who slice for experience, say they have clamps, but are really just cutting wires by thier own choice. They even tell the customer that they got low percentage slices when they fail, hoping the customer won't notice, since the weapon still gets tagged as having been sliced.
