Sir, You are absolutely Point-Blank wrong. You slice a terminal, and then refresh the page, and try telling me that the 2nd page of missions has a higher payout... You can't because it doesn't.

If nothing else, smuggler seems like a great money maker with minimal overhead. You don't have to sweat resources (dropping on any radioactive/non-ferrous seems like a dream after worrying about med resources), the crafting is cake compared to anything else in the game, you can sell the tools, you can sell FP, you can sell spices, and the market for weapons/armor that need slicing will never drop off. The combat side might be lame atm, but you can't beat the profit potential with a stick if you're a lazy bastage like me.

As a TKA/SMuggler/Pistoleer I find that I love the profession. Dumped fencer for all of the smuggler line and I'm not looking back. I went out on a pvp run last night and while your not the UBER template, you'll do ok if you play smart in pvp. Feign death is not broken. Sure the crowd agro's you moment you get up and ya sometimes they'll even warp to ya but still is good for solo kills in pve. It's helped me more then once.

Lets face it, as a main skill, if all you want to be is smuggler your lacking. If your going smuggler you should at least go Pistoleer to compensate your pistol skills. our specials might not be the most effective but its playable. Bottom line is you really do get out of it what you put into it. I wanted to go smuggler since day 2 of release (being day 1 it was down). I put it off and now wish I hadn't. It is the most fun I've had in the game to date.

Let me clarify that we smugglers DO need some Dev lovin but I'll be content to wait cause no matter what, I think its a decent profession.

I have to agree with Rivern. I had no idea what to expect from smuggler when I chose to level it and I haven't ever been disappointed. Yes, there is a lot that can be or should be changed but here is an abbreviated list of what's good about smugglers.

1. Discounts on faction items.

2. Reduced FP loss when you die.

3. Buy faction for yourself.

4. You can make millions buying and selling faction for others.

5. Slice terminals for higher payouts. Turn a 50K Dantooine mission into 75K.

6. Slice weapons and armor.

7. Quality of materials doesn't matter for slicing.

8. You can make millions selling smuggler tools.

9. Only special to evade a deathblow.

10. AOE delay.

11. Only ranged KD with a pistol.

12.Most powerful single pistol shot in the game. Even has a state attack.

13. Quality of materials doesn't matter for spices.

14. You can make millions selling spices.

15. You make portable buffs that do not require a certification to use.

This does not even get into RP aspects, chances to avoid scans, slicing terminals at dungeons to open doors, taking on high end combat content with novice marksman skills, etc. The revamp and combat balance will make smuggler even more attractive in my opinion.

There is a lot of work that can and should be done. But simply taken as one of the 32 SWG professions, I belive smuggler ranks very highly in the fun category. For what its worth, this is just an opinion from a person that choose smuggler last July and never looked back.

#1 doesn't work

#3 cap is too low for it to matter.

#4 way to long and painful also most guild/base have thier own smuggler to do it for them.

#7 true but it is also random

#8 you can??? I'll have to give it a try lol

#9 not really only in pvp unless you log. other wise what ever you're advoiding waits till you stand back up. Fun to kill People on afk with though hehe

#14 how many cratres of moun and neutron does it take to make millions at 6k each? Plus chiefs are way better, If you ask me since the y are outlawed the should be super good but hold a high price for being caught with them. So people actually want them.

#15 What if you mean neutron its not really worth it.

It has been a few days and I'm just now coming back to this thread. I see a few don't agree with my opinion. That's understandable, we all have opinions based on different things.

I'm going to do something that I rarely do...get on my soapbox...

EDITED: Doesn't really add anything to the discussion...

Pardon my rant. Have a nice day.

Is Smuggler a great profession? YES. We rule.

Is it because our template works, or our specials work, or because the dev's have given us Smuggler Content? NO.

Then why is it fun? Because I'm a Smuggler, that's why. Because in lieu of their content we're making our own. Because slicing still works and that...well, it's not smugglerish, but it's the closest most of us can come to actual illegal activity, with spices in the toilet, and FP sales being a kind ofclosed market (you gotta have a lot of cash to make cash in that one). But it's because I'm a smuggler.

Are the Dev's revamping us? YES. Thank God. And from the looks of the FIRST focus thread GreenMarine started, things are looking up, and it's just one aspect. We haven't even heard about what he's planning for spices, Dirty Fighting or slicing specifically yet.

Is it about Damn Time? Dear sweet Jeebus yes. The original poster is correct. We've been waiting since Beta for our profession to make some kind of sense. GreenMarine actually came here in November before he got moved to Vehicles and promised this stuff, but...that was November. This is June. That's what we've been waiting for.

So that's what's up. We're not the skill point sink from hell that our frustration makes us feel like. But we're not a working profession either.

Well I can say Slicing is a quick way to earn 100k in 30 minutes given people want it. However it is more of a pain since no one wants to pay for it. Spices sell slowly and so do tools. I'd say if you did this for the crafting become a chef!!!

If you sit around and cry about broken specials, lack of content, etc, etc, any prof will be lame.

With TKM/Smuggler/Pistoleer, the potential for RP, PvP and PvE is endless....and outa all that, the smuggler--RP is by far the best.

Now this coming from a TKM Master Pistoleer Master Smuggler. In PVP I win because my armor cost 5 mill and my vk cost 15 mill. Have very littler to do with anything in smuggler. I do llike the ranged KD for when the rebs like to run for it, but other than that I would say 1-1 pvp or maybe 1-2 I would win 1-3 or even in a 6-6 group I would lose. We have no def other than what I have bough in tapes. PVE yeah I love to fight and play dead its cool and if you have ever loot whored the geo caves I might have killed you with the 35 things I ge following me vefore I fack dead to leave them to you. However RP for smuggler? You must have on hella imagination. I don't put 30 crates of moun and run past ST who stop me then say oh its you very sorry sir and let me go for the RP adventure. I would perfer some real action. Smuggler is fun to a point but it is more boring than that. If the revamp sux I'll help you count how many don't drop it. I know I will.

If you ignore all of the crap with revamps being pushed back and nerfs, it is actually a really awesome profession. In my humblest of opinions, it's all uphill from here.

Yep I agree, its what the ranger profession used to be like before its revamp. Generaly speaking a good bunch of poepe because you cant be realy combat focused with smuggler and the other benifits are pretty limited for the solo experience. Gota love it tho. I first entered it whilst grinding Aaaaggess back, stuff the jedi grinding I never left smugglers

"Just FYI, your next mission is sliced, it doesnt have to be on the first page."

Everytime I have flipped the refresh button, the mission payouts go back to the old low payments. If I am looking for a specific mission that pays high, chances are I wont get to go on it because it wont be on that first page.
