well i was trolling these forms, and i came across a really long thread. so i start reading it from page one, started last august. about the 5th or 6th post someone mentions that smugglers are getting a revamp, and that the devs recently mentioned it. that was AUGUST. wow. that really sucks guys. thats over a year (if its going to be post JTLS) of lies.

oh well, i hope ot be a smuggler soon (just the dirty fighting tree). i guess i will fall victum to SOE's lies and deception.

If you ignore all of the crap with revamps being pushed back and nerfs, it is actually a really awesome profession. In my humblest of opinions, it's all uphill from here.

I have to agree with Rivern. I had no idea what to expect from smuggler when I chose to level it and I haven't ever been disappointed. Yes, there is a lot that can be or should be changed but here is an abbreviated list of what's good about smugglers.

1. Discounts on faction items.

2. Reduced FP loss when you die.

3. Buy faction for yourself.

4. You can make millions buying and selling faction for others.

5. Slice terminals for higher payouts. Turn a 50K Dantooine mission into 75K.

6. Slice weapons and armor.

7. Quality of materials doesn't matter for slicing.

8. You can make millions selling smuggler tools.

9. Only special to evade a deathblow.

10. AOE delay.

11. Only ranged KD with a pistol.

12.Most powerful single pistol shot in the game. Even has a state attack.

13. Quality of materials doesn't matter for spices.

14. You can make millions selling spices.

15. You make portable buffs that do not require a certification to use.

This does not even get into RP aspects, chances to avoid scans, slicing terminals at dungeons to open doors, taking on high end combat content with novice marksman skills, etc. The revamp and combat balance will make smuggler even more attractive in my opinion.

There is a lot of work that can and should be done. But simply taken as one of the 32 SWG professions, I belive smuggler ranks very highly in the fun category. For what its worth, this is just an opinion from a person that choose smuggler last July and never looked back.

don't listen to those guys. they are just trying to come up with excuses why they still keep their smuggler profs. Since that original promise for Revamp, we had our Dirty Fighting Nerfed (Feign Death and Panic Shot became pertty much useless), our spice tree became completely obsolete after Chef Revamp, Underworld tree became even more useless after Imperial players get a free-ticket to pass contraband scans. All that's left to do for smuggers, is to slice stuff, and sell FP for lazy people with too much cash to spare (good money, btw). It might be very good and nice to some, but smugglers used to do a lot more in this game. And Devs tells us that we wont get ANY attention till post JTL? No, smuggler prof is not fun anymore.

I guess I should add IMO, to be polite ...

All I do when I log on nowadays is slice a bit, check my vendor and log off. I fail to see what part of that is a smuggler. I'm an 'Equipment modifier' and a Merchant... not really much fun at all.. and also I stopped selling FP cause it takes too darn long to trasnfer 500 pts. 138 Times over...

Smuggler is the most freakin' fun I've had since I started playing SWG.

If you sit around and cry about broken specials, lack of content, etc, etc, any prof will be lame.

With TKM/Smuggler/Pistoleer, the potential for RP, PvP and PvE is endless....and outa all that, the smuggler--RP is by far the best.

All thats useless unless you are factioned, but sounds nice. However...

"5. Slice terminals for higher payouts. Turn a 50K Dantooine mission into 75K."

Only good if your mission comes up the first time you slice the terminal... otherwise you have to wait 2 minutes for the next opportunity to get the mission... if you do that alot in a 3 hour period... you end up LOSING profit because; 1. you wont have as many meat/organic resources, 2. you could have completed 2 50k missions instead of screwing around at the terminal WAITING for the next opportunity to slice. In the end it is less headache and more profitable to cycle through missions... making this aspect of slicing not a bonus, but a hinderance to profits!

So our so-called fun feature... effectively geeks us.

"6. Slice weapons and armor."

Nice yeah, but pain in the crack dealing with people who are ignorant of smugglers capabilities, and generally not very satisfying because its a craps shoot on giving them what they want.

"7. Quality of materials doesn't matter for slicing."

I would prefer that it DID matter if it meant my slices would be better!

"8. You can make millions selling smuggler tools."

You can make a million in a 3 hour meat run with just scout 0040. The market for smuggler tools, such as molecular clamps goes down the tubes once someone is a master smuggler. VERY limited market.

9. Only special to evade a deathblow.

Most griefable feature in the game when they disease you dont to 1 health 1 action 1 mind, and shoot your armor to 0 condition. Most useless feature in pve since the mobs immediately detect when you get up... and FOLLOW you to the ends of the earth. Could have just RAN away and had a better outcome. LOL.

"10. AOE delay."

Almost useless, since the second they are hit... the delay is broken. Still figuring out how exactly this move can be useful. Maybe if you do the delay... then run like hell because you are gimped and you know it!

"11. Only ranged KD with a pistol."

With no dizzy itsnot very useful, they just stand up right away.

"12.Most powerful single pistol shot in the game. Even has a state attack."

If pistol wasn't the tool of gimps that would be useful.

"13. Quality of materials doesn't matter for spices."

"14. You can make millions selling spices."

Spice dont sell that much.

In a month of hunting, I used muon gold maybe 9 times to get me out of a tight spot; in contrast, I spent perhapsone million ondoc buffs and spent at least150,000 on brandy.

Spiceutility is VERY limited, and thus it isn't in demand, nearly useless.

"15. You make portable buffs that do not require a certification to use."

Unfortunately, there arent enough upsides to these buffs to justify being profitable.

Honestly, when scout 0040makes 100X the profit that I could make as a smuggler in the same time period,it really makes me question why I would spend those points there.

Pistol, is more valuable in pve than pvp... effectively minimizing the bonus given for faction perks.

Smuggler is broke, and has been since the beginning. My only question is whether i will keep it and wait for JTL or drop it and spend my points in a more useful area... and pick it up later if it ever becomes useful. Sorry if this seems like a flame, my morale is at an all time low for this profession, and even though there are fresh round ofpromises from sony... they have yet to follow through with any of them made a year ago.

I know ya want to say "it aint so bad you can still have fun" that is true, you can have fun... but as far as the points being worth their cost, I dont see it at this point.

And yet you're still a smuggler....

Evarn Terallis - Master Smuggler on Kettemoor

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

Smugglers actually do some of the least complaining out of any professions ive seen. Its always good to know that one can stay humble even after getting smacked around.

Smuggler is a fun profession if you dont look at the negative aspects constantly, considering that some professions are much more broken than ours, and dont have anything planned to fix them, like CH and pistoleer.

More than anything, the devs need to quit catering to the damned jedi. they make up less than 1% of the player base, and there getting two of the largest publishes ever. There not even supposed to exist in this time period for gods sake.

Just FYI, your next mission is sliced, it doesnt have to be on the first page.

well i love to be smuggler and ill wont drop it that fast aggain.

but for godness i have to admit that their are some parts i realy dont like.
the spice for example ->it was realy great before the docs were able to buff people beyond the 2k state. cant wait for experimation
buying/selling fac points -> i cant just switch my aligment and buy facpoints for somemone cause i have to buy 3 times tah much i want to transfer (no rank) makes it somehow useless for real ffaction selling. also the 500 cap is stupid. 1000 would had been ok.

and my worst conern ... WHY CAN THE MASTER CHOOSE WHAT HE WANTS TO SLICE

but after all, i love the profession.

i heard there nerfing buffs in the combat revamp, so that no one can be buffed over 1k or something of the like. this could be very good indeed for the spice trade... then it would be truely good to be a smuggler.

that wont help spice a **edit** unless we get something to experimentate thze downer and downer length down.

spices would be great if they just wont negate thier effect that hard.
