The CH pet problem was gating their entire profession. I'd be pissed if the Devs didn't fix it before doing anything else.

So wait, you can salvage 1 from a crate of 1 you're saying? So if I just split 24 units off into another crate I can get a salvageable item? Thats good to know...

I think you misunderstand. If you're asking "Can I keep spiltting one off of any crate and salvage that one?" the answer is no. I tired that.
However, what I am saying is this: When you have a case of 25, rahter than unpacking the whole thing, you can choose Split from the radial menu and enter a quantity of 24. This will split off the unusable 24 and leave you with a crate of 1. THAT one is the last tool in the crate and can be salvaged.
This trick will work with smaller crates as well, provided that the crate was of its current size before the patch. So if you had an old case of 18 lying around, you coupld split 17 and recover the good tool.
This revelation allowed me to actually save dozens of crates in the hope that the Devs will fix this. Before finding this out, I was regrettably destroying all the unusable tools that I had to unpack - I reckon I lost about 500 tools in the process. Now, I have about 3 backpacks full of crates waiting for a fix.
Sadly, however, I don't think this will ever be fixed - I think the Devs want to control the influx of slicing tools into an economy and have a pigheaded notion that we should play the game their way. I fear that we will be forced to loot needed components and those crates will gather dust until smugglers destroy them in disgust.

I'm sure they do! Dont want the whole system going back to pre CU imbalance. In that regard, I think I can understand.

OK, I will Flame. Dev team, what you did too this game with publish 19 was uncalled for. In just 1 screwed up publish, you nerfed 2 things that I know of, CH and smuggler. Your lack of QC leads one too beleive you dont give a crap about what you are doing to this game. You have on more than once since I started this game forced out crappy product on the mass players so you could meet a deadline, and that isnt good business practise.

IN other words Get your Freaking acts together, stop shoving out crap and forcing the people that love this game adn contunie too play to have too pay for your screw ups. And dont even dare try too say you didnt know about these bugs, they was reports of them from the test center.

If I had known you was gonna screw smuggler up so bad, I would have respected into something useful with my last respec.

A fix on crates of things not converting right? Um ask the crafters how quickly they got fixes for their problems with converting stuff from crates... The answer may depress you.

But hey, at least you're not on Starsider, where apparently NOBODY can convert any UK's, even if they were uncrated... That's right, we didn't even get the conversion pass...

I miss the old smuggler forums where we used to laugh if something bad happened to us again... Did the smuggler playerbase got patched too? If so, I don't like that patch...

I think it happened when it seemed like GOOD things actually were going to start happening to us, then each good thing turns out to contain a tiny little man that pops out and punches you in the groin (or for the fairer sex, insults your womanhood)

Maybe I should rephrase, when they actually gave us SOMETHING at all, that seemed good, at least on the outside.

It's one thing to get alternating bouts of absolutely nothing, and nerfs. It's another thing entirely to get absolutely nothing AND nerfs at the same time, wrapped in a big bright ribbon. The latter hurts FAR more than the former.

i completley agree with maxamus geting sick of being trod on by soe dev teams with there halfass patches. always breaking something with them. they hadknowwe would not beable to get the new tools from kits that were in creats yet they did not mention this on the launch pad where every player could see not all of us live in the forums to read these notes, they screwed us over again rushing out patches so they could av a long weekend for there holidays.

Uh, this wasnt a screw up. This was intended. The changes to concussion and slicing have corrected smuggler not "nerfed" it. The only buggy part is the crate issue. Regarding that, give it a rest already! Bugs happen and will happen again. You cant avoid them every time. So try donning a little more tolerance, and spare us the miserable whining... SOE doesnt listen to it and I for one am tired of hearing people barking at the moon.
