The rodents of unusual size kill both Solo and Roberts before either can again an advantage on the other.

The book was brought back by an author. Who had the story read to him as a child by his grandfather. Yes that part of the movie is telling you something. The boy who had it read to him as a child grew up to be an author. He looked up the book and found an old copy of it to give to his son as a present. The author saw to the republishing of the book with the political part ripped out. The book then went on to be a very decent hit. Which was later made into a movie.

Scarey aint it. This book would have languished in obscurity for the rest of time. If that one authors grandfather had not read him a whittled down version as a child. By the way the book is even better then the movie. If you ever get a chance to read it by all means do.

Um, I really think you need to re-read the book then.

The entire bits about the abridgement of the "original" author's work and most of the family references thrown in about William Goldman's family, are in fact more fiction. S. Morgenstern, the supposed original author, is completely fictitious. Also, William Goldman... the real author who writes himself into the book and claims to be simply writing an abridgement... had two daughters, not the "big fat whiny" son he writes about in the book, nor was his wife a psychiatrist. He has also written many screenplays for films, such as Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid and STephen King's Misery... in the 30th Anniversary Edition of the book he even recounts a "conversation" with Stephen King about King being chosen over him to do the abridgement of the second book... because King is in fact of Guilder descent and the Estate of S. Morgenstern (also supposedly from Guilder) wanted him to do it instead.

Just food for thought.


Now all of that said, having read the book as well as having seen the movie numerous times...

I would have to say that Roberts would win but not until facing Han with his blaster out and quipping, "I must say, the odds are somewhat in your favor when it comes to gunfighting"

Then after a long, dramatic fight, Roberts would have Han at his mercy and say, "I would as soon destroy a stained glass window as a master such as yourself... but, I cannot have you following me either...", and he would proceed to knock him unconscious with the hilt of his rapier.

Well, I'm kind of hesistant to answer this one since I just got chastised by a community adviser for making an inappropriate post to this forum, but I'd have to go with the Dread Pirate Robert.

Okay correct me if Im wrong but wasn't Christopher Walken cast at some point as Han Solo for Star Wars 4? If thats the case and we wanna go off the movie instead of the book this is how I see it:

Dread Pirate Roberts humiliates Han Solo played by Harrison Ford.Han Solo drops his blaster and gets his hand cut off as he reaches for it. Total blowout.

However, When Dread Roberts tries to whack Han Solo on the head played by Christopher Walken, Han Solo snatches the saber out of his hand and slits Dread Pirates throat with his own weapon and then laughs crazily.

Ok maybe I should have gotten more sleep.....

The dread pirate roberts in increadibly intelligent. So he would have known to use the weapons of the time to even the battlefield. So even if the pirate could not procure a weapon legally he would procure it illegally by clubbing a storm trooper.

Han solo on the other hand is a criminal, and being a criminal he will not follow any rules of conduct. So the pirate must know this, and act accordingly.

Han Solo is not a true stand up figher he is a runner. Infact most of the time you can find him doing just that running from a fight. This suggests a higher risk of flight ratio.

The dread pirate robertts on the other hand is aggressive confrontational, and an expert stalker. These two match and cancel out.

Lastly the Dread pirate roberts has a greater combat potential not only does he possess good strength and stamina, but skill and foresight aswell.

This being said this would not be a fair fight. Infact it would be a fight decided by ambush. The result would be the pirate roberts standing in the millenium falcon with his sword in one hand and a blaster in the other. As Han comes in disenbowl and head shot. After all he is a pirate expert in close quarters combat, plus as a pirate he is a two handed weapon user.
