And then, there's another theory on the FANs, which I believe is the correct one, is that the wire is chosen at the time of choosing. So if you don't use a FAN, it's a 50/50 chance. As soon as you use a FAN, it raises the percentage chance to 75%, and the odds are weighed in favor of the wire you choose. So it doesn't matter how many FANs you use, it's always going to be a 75% chance when you choose a wire after the FAN.

So after using a FAN, when you choose the wire it says, there's a 25% chance that it will be the wrong one, and you can never increase your odds no matter how many FANs you use.

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

i have had a bad run with fans myself, i get a 50% sucess when using one fan, 65% with 2 fans, 75% with 3.

when i guess on terminals i have a 69% chance of being right.

slicing has a pattern for a time, it is just finding out the pattern.

Max,

I tested that theory using clamps and it is not correct. The wire will reset IF (and only if) you close the slicing dialogue before making the cut. You can install 30 FANs and the wire will remain the same as long you don't close the slicing box.

Im only at Slicing III and I slice every mission terminal I use without using clamps. For the past couple of days though I haven't failed ONCE. Is this a bug or have I just been horribly lucky?

I'm guessing lucky. I slice ervery term before I take missions, also w/out clamps, and I've had about a 30/70 success rate the last few days. I just always choose negative and see what happens (take that Freud).

Of all the random events...

First terminal I slice after posting this was a failure. Looks like I was just on a lucky streak.

Somthing i noticed(and when i was in slicing1 i got preaty good at it) there is a pattern on every network on the game, find the pattern and you will almost never miss. it's usualy 2-3 blues then 1 or 2 reds, then repeat. But i notice that this pattern will change on server resets.

But that is what i noticed on Flurry. It may be differant on other servers, i have no idea.

Wait for a few hours, the stats usually change after you've held onto something for a while.

Have no idea why, but that's what's happening.

Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. Cantinas packed with Entertainers of every race, shape and size...along with scoundrels, Stormtroopers, and drunks. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.
