Thread: I hate Jedi Has NO place on the Smuggler Boards.

Be cool, dudes. I haven't heard about any plans to nerf Last Ditch, and you know if there were Wes would be on it like a kung fu tiger.
Remember, just because a couple of players are making a lot of noise doesn't mean anything's going to happen. Don't let that prevent you from defending your profession, but don't let yourselves feel defeated before any battles have taken place.
From what I've seen lately, 90% of the changes aren't heard about until they are implemented.
I don't see how the Devs can nerf LD and look themselves in the mirror. LD is what smuggler is about. We get into hairy situations and gamble on a shot to get us out of the touble.
I have to Root and use specials as it is, maybe my pistola sucks though.
I can't even use LD without incaping myself. They should unerf that part of it.
beeing Smuggler is NOT THAT hard, also without the abilities.
I'm workin as a Smuggler on my server pretty well. People I dont know come to me and ask to get them things they can t get, cause they heard that I am able to get most stuff in game, also things that are not THAT common.
I can sell armor 25% under the normal prices, still making a HELL of profit, and I m not even a AS for my own nor do I have a second char.
By getting the Skillbox for underworld connections, ya don t get REAL underworld connections, for that ya really need to be a SMUGGLER, not somebody with the professions tag!
Playing as a Smuggler is not that hard in game, also if we don t have the NPC Missions they promissed to us, or all the other things we once shall get. Yeah, sure, makin all the promises reality would be sweet, but I don t need them for "that special smuggler feeling"!

The straw that broke the camel's back. As I read more and more about what's going on, I realise that if a LD nerf goes through I will pick up a different MMO. Jedi are ruining my play experience and I've always said that if you're not enjoying something then there's no reason to do it.
If it goes through, it shows a complete lack of respect or recognition for my time spent in-game, and for my money spent on the game. If it goes through, then the devs are saying to me, "We don't care about how you choose to play. If you want to experience this game, become a Jedi." At that point, there's really no reason for me to stay. I think that a lot of other Smuggler's have reached a similar point, and the actions of the past few days has been our own "Last Ditch."
I don't think I've heard ANYONE crystalize how I feel about the situation better than this guy here.
The Jedi profession has completely destroyed mytrue love for this game: GCW PvP.
I'll be damned if the GCW will be reduced to just packs of Jedi roaming from city to city. I hit cancel a few days ago, only to be talked into staying and becoming a BH in order to bring balance to this game.
There is little more I can say on the subject, because this is basically how I feel. I would feel very kicked in the gut to continue to see the GCW being only Jedi dueling amongst themselves and quickly killing the few normal combat profession players in order to get on with it.

Here is why I hate Jedi with a passion:
- I can only imagine how balanced and fun this game would be without the Village, Force Sensitivity, or Jedi.
- I can only imagine the work and progress that would have been done with this game if there wasn't a Holo Grind.
- I can only imagine the work and fixes this game could have had on it's professions and contentif the tail end of 2003 and all of the 2004 Spring and Summer weren't spent on a single aspect of the game that many despise, let alone like.
- I can only imagine the amount of regular PvE players that would be in PvP and player-driven content without the erge to be ubah with Jedi or tucked away grinding mindlessly.
- I can only imagine how lively and filled with real players the static cities (NPC cities) would be without people grinding and grinding and grinding XP on Dantooine.
- I can only imagine howaccurateand immersivethe game would feel with the timeline without the mish-mash of Star Wars items, including Jedi.
- I can only imagine how much better off this game's community relations, reviews, and history would be had we not of had the last 2 years revolved around Jedi.
- I can only imagine how well my, as well as many others', professions would work had the Jedi not cried "Nerf!" or driven the skills into the ground.
And you can only imagine how much I detest Jedi...

I agree with Schadwood on this issue, the whole "I hate Jedi talk" does not in any way help us to improve our (or any other) profession or our (or any other) gaming experience.
What's the situation now?
Like always some entities from the Jedi population started crying as soon as they discovered a move that had the power to harm them. But what's our problem with it? The Jedi profession is a huge problem for game balancing
- because they shall be hunted by Players but are supposed to be about 1.5 times as strong as others
- because this "overpowered-ness" the profession seems to attract some people who should never be Jedi in the first place (just my opinion)
But why does this bring out "I hate Jedi talk"? This is based on a mistake on our side. The players of the "Jedi Profession" have nothing to do with the concept of the Jedi in any Star Wars movie/book/comic/....
Mace Windu said in "Attack Of The Clones":"We're keepers of the peace, not soldiers". In our game Jedi is the profession, that people on a powertrip need to get. Jedi would offer great role-playing possibilities and could be used to create an awesome universe for all of us but that's not gonna happen. Players of the Jedi Profession need to fight to become Jedi and to be able to level. No peaceful way is available. This makes it hard for Roleplayers to go the Jedi way (I'm still waiting to meet the first role-playing Jedi).
But what can we do? Start trash talking like man of the Bounty Hunter/Jedi people do? Cry till they get all their specials "nerfed"? Call the specials of other professions "game-breaking" or "exploits"?
No. Star Wars Galaxies is a Massively MultiPlayer Online RolePlaying Game. We are all in this together as a community and we better start acting like one. I don't suppose such a movement coming from the Jedi or the Bounty Hunter Community, but I think we can do it.
The community should not cry for nerfing some profession/weapon/skill but to work _together_ to develop the best possible game experience for all of us. I want to see Jedi fight for the Rangers, I want to see Bounty Hunter defending a Jedi special, I want all of us to support each other.
We're in this together and unless we start acting like that we will always be weak. Our demand will never be met by Sony and our suggestions will be ignored.

Very well said.
Surely the way LD should work is that a Jedi with below half or low health can be killed by a BH with low health using LD. Otherwise, despite the fact that the Jedi has essentialy won the battle, there is not just a "get out of jail free" card for the BH but a gambler's chance to win a battle that should really have been a loss. Having a fight decided on a single coin toss runs againt everything that PVP in this game is meant to be (ie involving skill and judgement as well as luck).
Once again Jedi are getting the blame simply for having found a possible cause of PVP imbalance. The fact is that Jedi and BH are the most active PVP professions in the game and so are going to discover the imbalances first. Do BH ever get blamed by other profession for using bugged skills (eg warcry, unlimited bleed stacks,/duel bugs)? Only on very seldom occassions. When there is an objection raised about anything related to PVP you have to come back to the opinions of the players who are the most pvp active. There are still plenty of high power pistol specials, but it is futile to expect anything to remain unscathed over the next few months.
