Thread: I guess we should just go into permanent FD.
Be mean.
Be demanding.
Be their nightmare by shoving their track record in their face.
Be the most outspoken profession in the game so maybe some day we'll actually get what we've been waiting for longer than any other profession in this game.
Don't be a pansy.
Don't be a patsy.
Don't be something they can ignore for another 2 years.
Or screw it. Hit FD and resign yourself to never smuggling EVER!
I agree with the being outspoken, but anything else is not going to get you a response, or a verygood response at least. You can yell at the devs all you like till you're blue in the muzzle and they aren't going to listen to insults and petty anger from anyone a whole lot.
Get rid of your account if you're unhappy, truly. This speaks volumes above any anger you can express in any post on the SWG boards, such links in players posts that for example aretitled "the game as it should of been" and "press to see the real vision of SWG" are laughable. If you don't have to look at them when you see them in someone's post, why do you think anyone else would including the devs. You pressing one button and leaving SOE's gamesis the loudest thing you can say to them.
My point in all of this is that we should NEVER see something like the asinine "We dig the Tiggs" thing on this forum again. Examples such as that and the cutesy response things like a pounce get sickening when they're detracting from the real issue.
In recent weeks, we've seen Smugglers defending the idiotic posting of SOE, be it word games or insensitivity. Not only that, but we've had some Smugglers tell others that they were wrong for being pissed about it. IMO, that was the only thing that was wrong about it all.
I made my posts. I responded to Tiggs. I even thanked her for coming by and actually discussing it, but it STILL got us nowhere. I know that myself and a few others have made posts and sent PMs asking for someone, anyone to come here and discuss the lack of smuggling in the game. It was firm, but it wasn't threatening. We can be a-holes, without talking like a-holes.
I hate the losses this community has taken in the last month or two. I hate it because the people who have been around, who remember the lies, broken promises, and the lack of explanation of ANY of it are starting to leave, and we are back where we were a year ago. When the outspoken voices leave, it's up to the remaining people to stand up and be heard. Being all lovey dovey with the devs has not worked in the past, so don't think it will work because you think you're Rico Suave.
The only things that will hurt them is the truth and cancelling of accounts. Cancelling may not be for you, but you should be bringing as much of the cold hard truth about this company and their treatment of their customers to all their current customers and potential customers. The real truth, not some polite, cute version of it.
I'll have been here 50 weeks when my account expires in a couple weeks -- most of that time has been spent trolling my little heart out on these fine Smuggler forums.
From my observations, the vast majority of posts have been of the polite/constructive/helpful type. Sure, we rant occationally, but not much compared to other forums.
The problem, as many have pointed out, is that it doesn't matter. I liked the CU... I liked the new slicing until they started dropping ICBs like rain in a typhoon... and I still can't get past the fact that the vast majority of attention we get in terms of actual code changes are skill nerfs.
Polite or not, basically nothing has been done since I started playing to improve smugglers.
I'm taking at least a few months off, so you can maintain whatever attitude you want in the forum. I just don't think it matters one way or another. Be rude, be polite, Digg Tiggs, or post interesting photo-shop pics. It simply doesn't matter.

Honestly - I don't think it matters.
Yell at the devs...kiss the devs' butt...whine to the devs...curse the devs out...act like the devs are our buddies.
None of it will ever "work". They don't care what we want. They have never listened to us before, and they never will. It doesn't matter how we act. They have their own plans for this game - and they are going to go on with those plans regardless of what the paying customers want.

There's nothing wrong with being upset and pissed about something, but there's a world of difference between yelling incoherently about it and posting in a civil, concise manner; both can express how you feel and why, but only one of them is more likely to be read and noted than the other and invite (if not receive) a response.
