Thread: Hybrid Titles...

Bravo,
And I have, numerous times, suggested that a list of keywords said in the vicinty of law enforcement NPC would initiate an automatic scan.
We should have titles displaye NOR should we advertise in spacial offering illegal services without consequences.
It's not like this would be too hard...
The code's already in place. When's the last time you said "rebel" or "rebellion" around an Imperial NPC? Even an Imperial Colonel gets knocked out for that one...
Just add "slice" and "slicing" to the list and give CorSecs and other local law enforcers the power to give the one-hit mind incaps to the guys spamming it.

Dreven,
So you'll suggest that we get in trouble for showing titles, slicing, selling spice and saying keywords in the vicinity of law enforcement?
Well...I'm not a spammer, so I'd love it as far as the keywords in spatial.
I'd still keep it so titles could be visible though, since when I do feel like slicing, I just make myself tagged and searchable. Of course, if they put in a system where the search feature didn't rely on your being tagged, I'd be just as happy to keep my tag hidden as well...

let's try to keep politics out of the smuggler forum. Political arguments almost never end well..

Dreven,
Did you get my suggestion for an 'informer' NPC in each city that would give the same results as the search function for smugglers?
That way any player could go to the informant, converse, and get a list of smugglers in the area without us having to display our titles.
I just think a big neon sign over our heads that reads the equivalent of "criminal" is kind of lame.
My only issue with this is that it's a game function, not a gameworld function. If you've ever done any decent RPing in SWG then you've most likely noticed that most people still make introductions and ask "what do you do?" even though the info is floating above your head.
It's a function of the game, not something that translates into the environment of the gameworld. Just you can't honestly think that everyoen carries around a glowrod (light), a personalbio-scanner (radar), a personal faction detector (colored dots on the radar), and a commlink that constantly scan frequencies for your area (chat channels). These are all functions of the game for ease of use, we don't actually walk around anouncing what we are and what we do toanyone who glances in our direction.
Your other ideas about the "informant"and whatnot though....those are topnotch! Great stuff!
But right now, we have no other way to let others know who we are. No underworld contacts to leave our name with. So leaving the tag up is actually the less offencive way to do it right now. Certainly less an hassle then spamming.
But if I had SOME immersive in game way to advertise (like your NPC informant suggestion),I would gladly put my tag down.
