LOL no way man... Im using smuggler only for battle I know its kinda stupid only touse it partialy,but hey,m8 you re always my choice number 1 for slicing

Right now I'm MS/MP/ 0430 carbinner.
I get lots of accuracy, a ranged KD, 2 roots, a snare, lower combat speed,and I if I really need to I'll pull out a laser rifle for long distance rooting and KDing.

Go with what you want. At any rate, here's templates I tried for a fairly long time and my thoughts on each. Also I've pretty much always had novice commando, just for the lag pistol. It's so nice to lay states in an area. It also out ranges normal pistols.
1) m.smuggler/m.marksman/m.pistoller
Pros:
Oh man. This is so uber it's not even funny. Nobody can out state you. You're ok with all types of guns and just plain nuts with a pistol. So fast. So bloody fast. Nothing moves without your say so. You control everything.
Cons:
Damage is... lacking. Lacking to the point of non existent. That and no KD is annoying but you can pick it up if you want.
2) m.smuggler/m.rifleman
Pros:
Decent control with a liberal dose of power. This is the template I finally went with after respec. It balances nicely for PvE. Root the guy with concussion then smack for 5k damage with sniper shot. Using this temp I can solo any melee npc in the game. It's also useful in PvP since you can both mess up the opponent with the states from smuggler and lay in some pain with the rifle.
Cons:
Rifles don't feel smugglery. Rifleman also doesn't have many good state effects to add. Rifles are slllllllllooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww. Cuts down on the stating we're good at.
3) m.smuggler/m.tka
Pros:
You just look so damn cool. Duster flying in the wind, renegade in hand and confident you can handle anything that comes your way. TKA offers great defenses. Improved CoB, powerboost, and inate armor are very sweet.
Cons:
Aside from CoB, boost, and the armor it won't really be worth it to touch tka again. You'll have a very small selection of specials, and the ones you do have aren't that hot to fight with. You're stuck with just smuggler stuff for the most part. But damn if you won't look dashing doing it.

Works well enough for me using Master Smuggler/Master Commando and Pistoleer 4/4/0/4. Good ranged accuracy, good heavy weapons speed, decent pistol speed, insane crowd control capability... if Commando ever gets their weapons up to a level 5 offense it would be very destructive. Concussion shot and StoppingShotto be able to alternate while one is charging... AoE Rooting/Mezzing/Debuffs from 0-65m have the certs for both assault armor if you need the kinetic defenseand recon if you need the energy defense plus further melee mods if you want to RP the tough brawler type smuggler and fist fight a little just for kicks in a Cantina. Oh and the burn from the flamer tends to really help against higher end mobs that tend to regen a little too quick adding in a DoT to hit occasionally against their regen'ing health.
