More money to be made hunting for doc's when the meat is right, Therefore you are likely to be better off using rifleman scout/ranger and watch your trade forum for the "hot' selling meat items. Even at 50 cpu and paying to be buffed and travel you can make several 100K per hour hunting. When the price goes up to 75K or more (I have hunted at 150 cpu, but only twice) you can make big bucks.

You can make money slicing. But you need to have a friend or two to help with the business. Slicing you need to link with an smith (weapon or armour or better both) to keep you in business, they provide AUK and WUKs you do the knives and clamps and you give them a break because of bulk slicing and you can make money, but not at the rate of hunting.

Right now there is no money in spice and faction selling is a pain.

I never made much money as a smuggler, but that's because I wasn't a master and we all know non-masters can't make money in this game.

I actually made decent enough money for me by running survey missions and planting harvesters on particularly good spots, then selling the stuff I pulled out of the ground. If you know what Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths look for, you can figure out what to pull and what'll be worth money. If you then hang on to it for a LONG time, eventually that stuff can be worth a ton as certain really good spawns happen rarely.

But no, being a smuggler didn't do much more for me than give me the occasional maintenance money for my gear. I never had the volume of business to make tons of cash.
