I am seriously looking for something to drive in the money. With my new alt I have created, I am currently going up in the Rifleman tree to kill Certain NPC's for my Jedi character. But more than that, I am looking to make some serious cash. I heard that there are not too many smugglers on my server, and I am truely wondering if this can be a highly lucrative business.
I am not into grinding crafting professions so much, the best I have done is going up the Doc tree a few months back. Because of this, I do like to craft a little, but I am thinking Smuggler is really the way to go. Pretty neat little defenses, and tricks to use. Not only this, but it just seems like slicing is pretty fun business.
Seeing as I am getting closer and closer to finishing up my Rifles, anyone have any words on if this is the profession I am looking for?? Thinking deeper too, Soloing a NS elder with conceal then using Feign Death seems like a cheap, but easy way to get some excelllent weapons, and loots. It seems with this combo there is no limits to your power.
Finally, in conclusion. Basically is Smuggler good money. By that I mean Millions of credits in a week or two. Is slicing where the money is?? Or is it merely in making Spices and stuff like that. Thanks a lot guys!!

um, not lucrative at all. It sucks ... go elsewhere (leave more profit to me)
Seriously ... I've made probably an average of $10-20 mil per month since January.

Thanks for info so far guys, I didn't know how much people charged anyway on slicing. Thanks for that also. Pretty much I'm going to finish rifles then start workin on Smuggler. 10-20 Mill is pretty nice chunk of change. Currently I was gathering loot from various places... Geos/Nightsisters. From that I made a lot of credits but I'm hoping duel rolling with smuggler will get me some nice cash. Thanks again for info.

I can only describe my experiences - I never sought money, I never chased anything impossible and I never stuck at anything I didnt enjoy, and I'm sat with millions in the bank and a list of friends and contacts that's longer than anyone else I play with.
Do it.

One thing I failed to mention with Smuggler ... it is how you play it and what you do that makes you money. Not all Smugglers are as lucrative as I am.

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty a-typical. Most smugglers don't make nearly that much off of smuggler-related skills. Slicing is good for money depending on how you handle it. I've never seen it quite at 10-20 mil per monthbefore with public slicing. A lot of guys say that doing mass slicing for armor- and weaponsmiths is much more lucrative, but it's also very time-consuming.
Spice is pretty useless right now. I keep it for personal use these days, 'cuz it really doesn't sell.
FP selling is really good as long as you're a colonel in your respective faction.
The combat specials make hunting for profit pretty good... as long as you're also a pistoleer.

I have only done a couple of mass-slicing deals before (enough that I can count them on one hand in the last 18 months). Most of my money is from faction, but I also charge usually 10-15k per slice (higher when I am busy). Last week I had a couple of people pay 25k per slice & I think the highest I have had people pay is 150k for a slice.
When I was slicing for 5k per slice,I made 250-500k per night on weekends hanging out in Coronet ... but now I figure why bother, I can make more doing solo-groups ...

Personally I hope they add smuggler missions to JTL now that it's out
But smuggling isn't any more profitable than getting in a good solo group unless you enjoy spending all your time slicing full time for a weapon/armor smith.

I've played a lot of different professions in SWG (note: I emphasize play, not ground through), and I can say that aside from combat medic, smuggler is the least lucrative that I've encountered. I think it's pretty much a given that whatever other skill you get to accompany smuggler will be your credit-earning skill. For one thing, smuggler is a huge money sink just to advance in slicing. You'll need to buy containers, and clamps, and weapons and armor upgrade kits, and it will take you a long time to recoup that expense. And even once you do, slicing is still a very poor way to earn credits relative to other crafting or hunting activities in the game. Spices got killed with the chef revamp. I still use them just because I'm stubborn and like to pretend that I'm useful, lol, but I don't bother selling them. At the prices they sell for on the bazar, there is no margin there.

All I can say is...you didn't play it [Smuggler]well. And I don't sell spice anymore either.

I dropped smuggler a while back, but i still left the prof about 20 mill richer than i entered it. To make money as a smuggler there is really only one thing to do, Hang out. I remember reciving 100k for slices at times on high end weapons that got the "right" slice. its a matter of luck and planning really

I havent read the other replies but I think it largely depends onyour server and the Smuggler population on it. On Chimera there are only a handfull of good reliable proffesional smugglers (about 5 or so maybe Playcla and MojoRein (board names)being 2 off the top of my head excluding myself) so I make a fair bit of creds just walking around doing my day to day headless chicken routeen. I'd say on avg I maybe make about 100k a day in a casual 2 - 6 hours playing and not going out of my way to slice. Especially in Coronet where there is always someone wanting you to stick a knife in their parts. Standing pimping my slicing services im sure I could make a shed load.
