Thread: I understand you have all the right to slice at whatever price you want, but this is ridiculous.

You think thats bad? Theres a rebel smuggler on my server offering free bulk slicing (100 items minium) to weaponsmiths and armorsmiths because he wants to convert the XP to FS sence XP...Message Edited by Undergrid on 11-22-2004 01:15 PM

i was charging between 5 and 7k a slice... than i too stopped slicing for the GP. for a few weeks i did no slices at all. than around the time that some of us were seriously talking about the value that we seriously offer, probably about a month or so ago, i began getting /tells from ppl asking if i was a master smuggler. my first question to them all was "yes...why?" and they would alwyas respond, "because i ahvent been able to find one for a while"
it tunrs out that most of the master smugglers on Bria stopped slicing for the GP. granted, there were alot of slicers out there. but people wanted the quality. now... if i am just hanging out.. i charge 10k... if i am grinding somewhere i charge 25k. not once have i had anyone question my prices. i even had one guy that i sliced for while doing a mission. he came to me after i told him i woulod charge him 25k. i ended up slicing his geno pistol for sumthin like 15% spd. i felt bad and was gonna tell him he didnt have to pay, when he tipped me 50k.
i have been geting this alot lately. in the past month, i have worn my master tag for a total of 1 hour, in coro. i was so overwhelmed with tells i had to take it off. i used to have to justify charging 5k for a slice, and now, they are hapopy paying 25k. im hoping that the rest of the Bria master smugglers have also decided to slow down on GP slices. its the laws of supply and demand that determines prices. if we let the demand increase, the price wil go up.
i persoanally stopped slicing for the GP as a way to protest the BS with the revamp, and i would encourage everyone else to do the same. we have learned to get our income elsewhere. if our complaining doesnt get noticed by the devs, maybe having every other combat profession complaining to them will. stopping for a day or two, wil being a start, would not to much good. we need to stop slicing, period, until we at least get some sort of acknowledgement that sumthing is happening or not. even a No at this point would make me happy.
just my 2 cents

Anybody on the street that asks me for a slice gets charged 900k for a suit of armor. If they say yes, I win, if they say no, I win.

When I slice for the public, I usuallydo weapons for5k for up to 24%, 10k for over, armor for 6k a piece.
Uber weapons I do slightly different. I then up it to 50k if it's Dam >25%, free if anything else. I'd never add insult to injury by asking for payment after speed slicing a capped out Master's DE10 or Lance.
I also have the tendancy to give free slices to good looking girls, particularly dancers in revealing bikinis

There are lots of smugglers out there who just don't think it's worth more than that. Me? I charge 250 credits per percent. I think it's fair and they get what they pay for. Is it random and beyond my control? Yep. But why would I ever INTENTIONALLY slice low?

I'm on Chilastra and I charge 5k per slice, flat fee.
I just begun slicing for the public.
So far I had 3 customers: First one accepted my price without problem and I sliced his weapon. The second had me slice a weapon without arguing the price than came back later with another weapon and this time paid double what I was asking. The weapon was one he say was worth a few millions and he was a tad nervous about it. I got a 27% damage slice on it and he was very happy and he even added "but I know it is random, part of the game". He added me to his friend list
Then, a third customer who wanted me to slice an armor but when I told him my price he told me to forget it since he only paid 6k for it.

Pluppo wont be getting any more secret handshakes off me, thats for certain.
I've got to the point where I've ended up buying my own crates of weapons, slicing them and putting them on a vendor. Im fed up of weaponsmiths trying to use me as cheap slicing labour, while they put the high end damage slices on vendors for more money than I sliced a whole crate. Time to get a peice of the pie :/

Beautiful Chemistrius!!
I've stopped slicing for the general public entirely, I can make more money and have more fun on say Endor, or Dathomir then standing
around a spaceport spamming. (not that's there anything wrong with that).

Actually I'm lying - if a stranger sends me a tell that starts along the lines of "Hey, sorry to bug ya but....." or simply "Hello" I'll slice for them
usually free (good manners deserve a reward).
Needless to say though I don't do a lot of it simply because well - there aren't a lot of good manners out there:
"You slice??!!!?" "Hey, I need 3 weapons sliced", "Come to Coronet now, I need my armor sliced" to which I just automatically "addignore"

I think I'm turning into a grumpy old Trandosian <sigh>

I currently slice for 5k a time, I certainly never advertise (IMHO it just doesn't fit in with the concept of a smuggler ... I'm not really a role player as such but I still like to fit in with the role a little if you see what I mean). I usually find I just have to put up my title, make my character searchable and the business finds me. I have considered upping my prices tbh, but so far I have been reasonably happy at 5k.

I don't advertise either, I hate spamming, and as some mentionned I am enough of a RPer that the idea of a smuggler yelling about slicing and selling spices just feel too weird for me to do it.

I like 15k per piece. If they don't like it, oh well, if they do, well, I'm getting more than what the weapon alone is/will be worth.
