I know that anyone can dock and get "stuff" (for lack of a better term), and I haven't found a jettison cargo button/command/option, so I doubt we can dump anything we pick up. Also, unless it is mission related, I haven't been able to figure out what can be done with it. It would be cool to be able to "jettison cargo" and either lose faction or get a bounty (the bounty would depend on a number of factors: Smuggler level, level of mission, type of cargo, etc.).
Ah well...here's to dreaming

Tsk tsk, you didn't even get the cargo to smuggle yet, and you're already thinking of dumping it at the first sign of trouble.

Yes, Talus missions ARE finally real-Smuggler-like-you-and-me content, with the restriction that Imperial pilots can't take them.

So we finally got some content, peoples! Content! Smuggler specific content! Ok so it is a far cry from a revamp, but still. It is a start.

That little fact seem to have been fairly lost in the uproar about the other stations giving "smuggling" missions to Privateers part of the *wince* Smuggler Alliance. But the Talus missions are actually a GOOD news, not us being shafted again. No?

I agree to a certain extent... the problem lies within the fact that they ARE giving smuggling to other players. I do not have a TC char yet, so I don't exactly know what the SA missions contain. As soon as they hit live, I will be checking them out, and if they are the same as the Smuggler only missions, I will make a post asking for access to BH terminals, the ability to harvest, and the ability to make my own houses. Simply put, actually giving us Smuggler content (however basic and lackluster it may turn out to be) is no excuse for giving away what should be our intended purpose as well as our meaning of existence.

So in other words... Hurray for smuggling... and when the hell did being a Ranger mean you should be able to smuggle.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

True. Any profession-specific content should be given at the Novice level of each profession and advance as you advance through the profession (such as, for example, NPC missions on Novice BH, and PC missions on Investigation 3).

Having a Bounty Hunter/Smuggler's Alliance Pilot in the ground game, I don't expect to be given Smuggler missions in any way.

However, I do expect being hired as an escort to a NPC or a PC Smuggler doing the actual Smuggler missions, I do expect having ground+space-based NPC Bounty Hunter missions (perhaps even space-based PC missions if the systems ever get implemented), and I do expect being given some kind of 'gun-for-hire' space-based missions such as 'Jabba's associate has betrayed him. Important documents regarding insert-topic-here are missing. Hunt this person down and recover the papers from him. He is no longer needed, so we don't care if he lives or dies in the process.'

Such missions may be confused for 'Smuggler content' simply because something is transferred from one place to another but, in reality, are not. If this was the actual Smuggler content they are planning on implementing, I'd be pretty disappointed.

That said, if they are really so shortsighted as to release proper smuggling missions to the public, I wouldn't mind getting Force Choke, the ability to craft and mix my own spices, and a Flamethrower certification.

At one point The "whats on Deck" says:

Dantooine:

  • Tier 2+, Specific story missions for all pilots, rebel pilots, and smuggler pilots.

These people are NOT smugglers (or so we have been assured),

Talus:

  • Players wishing to receive missions from this station must be a ground Smuggler of Alliance or Privateer faction.

I've never asked for much from our correspondents, but Wes needs to get on top of this IMMEDIATELY, before this space vs. ground smuggler perception becomes acceptable. JFreeman has repeatedly told us that SmugAlliance pilots are *not* smugglers (although this is contradictory to half of the game's NPCs, and one of the Tier-4 missions). So either Tiggs isn't with the program and we need to get her straightened out, or JFreeman has been lying to us. And Wes needs that figured out ASAP. If Tiggs is right, then who are the space Bounty-Hunters, and where do I sign up? I'd rather do it in space than have to waste all the skillpoints on the ground.

So Imperial smugglers are hung out to dry? This is quite simply crap

If smuggling and Imperial were never meant to go together, then shouldn't we have gotten some sort of notice about this? And before you give me any crap about "breaking Imperial law", my guild has smugglers in it, and the way we roleplay requires us to have smuggling skills. I'll gladly supply the details of this roleplay if you absolutely must have it, but for now, I'll leave it at this. Content for smugglers should be for smugglers, REGARDLESS of factional allegiance.

I totally agree with you Sharkboy..thats just wrong leaving the imp smugglers out to dry. I mean In my case I'm a imperial Colonel, there is no way I would give up my imp rank either. I mean I"m sure the empire has its share of sypathetic smugglers just like the alliance...its war and both sides use any means to win..I think thats where the big misconception is with the devs...they dont look at it from the GCW perspective and all that a war entails....all assets are expendable in order to achieve victory! This includes the imperial smugglers trying to steal rebel info., supplies (underworld), crack security passwords(slice) and make alittle extra money on the side to fund the other actions (spices)...:sigh: will they ever learn and understand this? :sigh:

Well... I think there will be missions that only Imperials and neutrals can take. So I can imagine missions that reb onlyor imp only.

I dont know the details of the Talus-Missions yet, but if your actions directly hurt the empire i.e. firing on TIEs and stuff, or smuggling supplys to rebels (something that neutral and rebel smugglers do), dont you think that is a bit.. well against what you work for?

or another thing. The NPC kinda runs a background check on those who want to work for him. So he checks the database and he sees Colonel Joe Loyal Trooper of the 113th Reb-Hunter Squadron (who earned those badge of merit). Our NPC has this 5 tons of bacta that needs to be delivered to a rebel hospital frigate. Do you realy think he would hire Joe? Or would he more likely say something like: "Everything fine here, we don't have any problems. Everything fine... How are you...?" *shoots comlink*

or...

Can you do the rebel themepark when you are imperial? No. Well in space it is a more grey zone. But as imp you just are to far in the black.

And keep in mind that there is always a story in your missions, who you work for and against whom.

I see my imperial smuggler as the "bad cop" type. You know follows most imperial rules but knows the benefits of Contraband, slicing, underworld connections....

Of course I do not find fair to leave Imperial Smugglers hanging dry, I surely hope as Jaguarrr we will find Imperial and Neutral pilot Smuggler missions.

Yippie, I'm an Imperial Colonel as well - figured I might as well augment my "contraband" smuggling skills for the occassional crackdown scan. PLUS I get to smack STs around which is always a great stress reliever

Having this a Neutral/Rebel mission doesn't bother me too much - I figure as long as they balance the missions out down the road and offer Imperial only missions then life will be good. Have the Talus station offer Rebel missions and say the Rori station offer Imperial.

Not sure I like the idea of Rebel/Neutral and Imperial/Neutral missions - as it means that if there's speciality loot given out the Neutrals will get more than the factioned sides.

throw in rebel-only and imperial-only missions and we have a good balance.

Now Now Ternque, I feel the need to correct you somewhat on this

You line implies I'm an Imperial Smuggler when in fact I'm a Smuggler who happens to hold an Imperial rank.
