the thing they must remember when thinking about introducing PvP bounties on us Smugglers, is that we are NOT jedi. we don't think, act, fight, look, smell, or taste like jedi.
that goes for the characters we play, AND ourselves as players.
it's almost like comparing apples to oranges.
as long as we Smugglers get working abilities that counter the BH's working abilities, then it would work out very nicely.
if the player bounty system were originally set up so that BHs hunted Smugglers, do you think we'd see the Jedi clamoring for the chance to be hunted?
i highly doubt it.

My two centson what SOE needs to do.
They need to dump all their extra cash into bribing Ralph Koster to come back, and they need to make the chain of command like this.
Ralph Koster -- Green Marine (Ralph comes up with off the wall ideas, GM finds solutions to make them work in the game, also comes up with his own Ideas)
below them, a Crack Team of hand selected individuals to act as their liaisons to different aspects of the game.
below them, special teams assigned to each aspect of the game.
This setup will then continue until the game has reached the glorious potential it so obviously has.
Then they can switch it to a maintenance/content team.

you know, i've been trying to read up about Raph Koster. i heard a lot of things about him but i'd like to know more about the guy who essentially created this game.
from what i've read so far, i'm not sure bringing him back would be the best idea. but i'd need to learn more to really commit to that point.

he um, he's out there. his goal was to put the RP into rpg i guess. That's why we'd need GM to keep him in line lol

My take on Player-controlled BH's? I think there is a place for them in the Smuggler Revamp.
I know I haven't been a smuggler very long, but it seems that with the GCW options you can choose to participate in the NPC version, or you can take things up a notch and go for the gold against other players. I would like that option - to take my gaming experience as a Smuggler up a notch.

That's the whole point of MMO's to be able to interact in meaningful ways with other players, within the systems of the game. The original design for the game called for PvP to be only partially consentual. Most of the area of the game was dedicated to PVP enabled living. you didn't want to fight, you stayed in safe areas. that was the "consent."

hehe yeah, actually i do like that part about his ideas. more RP, less G.
it's too bad the G doesn't provide enough tools to RP, and it's also too bad that so many MMO players don't care about the RP.

GM is 105% bawls-fueled raw ownage, baby. <3. He might be "old," but bawls can make anyone young. It's the fountain of youth, I swear.

The single, crucial mistake of SOE is that Jedi don't like player bounties because of xp loss and that smugglers won't have to deal with this xp loss.
I am sure someone with a brain connected to their mouths at SOE or Lucas Arts can see the huge difference, and why instituting a purely optional player bounty system WILL NOT conflict with players.
SOE/Lucas Arts is nutso.
