Thread: example of why Exploit slicing needs fixed -sorry this one i hope :)

To play Devil's Advocate for a moment:
1. If this exploit has been around since launch and
2. The devs have done nothing to address it and
3. No players have been banned because of it then
4. It looks like a feature
Solo grouping is an exploit, yet nothing is done about it. Jedi spawn breaking is an exploit, yet it's taken as a legitimate (if not liked) means of gaining XP. There are many exploits in this game that are tolerated by most everyone, so why does this particular exploit receive so much condemnation? If the devs didn't like it, they'd nerf it pretty quick like they've done with past exploits they felt went over the line.
The devs have a quick trigger finger when it comes to nerfs. Of all the things they've nerfed in this game, why would this one survive for over a year? It must not be that big a deal to them.

People like you need to get banned.
i mean, i didnt intentionally buy an expolited weapon, just happened to get it, and as i stand it a damn good gun, i cant tell whats expolited or not. and its not my fault that i got an expolied weapon without knowing it, im gonna use it just cos i spent cash on it. im not gonna delete it cos its bad, i spent cash on it, and unlike most of u im not rolling in cash.
oh and for all i care ban me, i ve been playing this for so long i dont really care what happens, im bored with the game and with the devs.
so im a 5up3r 1337 h4xx0r cos i bought 1 exploied weapon and wont destroy it cos i spent good cash on it, and if the devs really cared they would of got rid of the bug since its been around for a while, and delete all weapons sliced in this way

I like this logic, really. I guess that means whenever I slice a piece of armor and the "set color" screen comes up that the devs really INTENDED for me to change the color of everyone's armor?
I have a strange feeling that the Pup exploit won't ever really be looked at until the smuggler revamp. I'm optimistic that they have finally realized that the current slicing interface (cut wires) is exceedingly boring, and that they'll redesign the feel of slicing, in the process removing the Pup exploit. That's the ONLY reason i can see this still being an issue after a year+.

Well, now you know. Take it back to the seller and say you want a full refund, if this isn't possible you can make a report on it, actually I suggest you do this in either case, just to keep your own back clean. Now since you know, yor are indeed intentionally using and exploited weapon.

well first off, when devs address exploits it's called a FIX, not a nerf
and also, your logic seems fine in order to give yourself a sense of legitimacy, but it's still a known exploit. The fact that the devs have more important things to do doesn't make it less of an exploit.
Plus, when was the last time a dev actually, for reals paid any sort of positive (not teasing like greenmarine) attention to smugglers?

Of coure I'd refuse and let them know it's an exploit. And, BTW, just because no one is banned or they haven't fixed it in a year now does NOT mean it's OK.So what would be the cut off point, what if they ignore it for two years, or maybe three. Would five years do it? If the Dev's know about it and know that everyone else knows about it and is taking advantage of it then they must not consider it an exploit.
No one has ever asked me to do it for them when they ask me to slice something and had they I would have said no, but the fact remains that the Dev's don't seem to consider it an exploit so at what point do we stop considering it an exploit.
For all we know the Dev's have decided to leave it in there when they do the re-vamp (if that ever happens) and just didn't say anything to us (like that would be anything new) and so don't consider it an exploit.
It would be nice if a Dev could ever answer any of the issues like this that come up on the boards.
How many times does it have to be said?! The devs have said it's an exploit. The fact THE GAME removes pups before the slice makes it an exploit. What more do you want?
