W*T*F is so "Ranger" about urban stealth and stealing? Isn't that what smuggler has been asking for since launch?

NO -- we have not been asking for stealing! The overwhelming (vocal) majority of us believe that Smugglers are NOT THIEVES. (Well, we are not above skimming off the top of a job done for Jabba, but we don't "steal" from ordinary citizens.)

In one sense, I think this is a good change for Ranger. At least they are giving the profession a defined role and gameplay style.

Like Smuggler should have.

Then again, if they push out the In Concept changes, it'll be a big step forward. No love lost in losing spice crafting (which sucks anyway).

FYI -- if they keep the prereqs, you can be a Master Smuggler and a Master Ranger, with four points left over to waste on force sensitive skills.

Um, Ranger prereqs are Master Scout. Master Ranger + Master Carbine / Pistol / Rifle / Teras Kasi / Pikeman / Swordsman / Fencer / Doctor = 4 skill points left. So, at this time, you can not master Smuggler and Ranger at the same time.

Wow,

Never thought I would EVER see a Ranger Revamp on the pages. Glad to see they are getting some much needed love from the Dev's , however,I am going to remain skeptical until I see it in the game proper (remembering the Smuggler In-Concept ideas that never came to fruition).

But here is hoping that the folks at SWGhave learned from their mistakes in the past.

Good Luck Rangers...that Revamp looks awesome!!!

The pre-reqs are changing.

So, it looks like the Devs are fleshing out the last of the GCW in terms of professions.

Rangers are Recon, Commandos are the big guns and Squad Leaders are the brains.

It hints at an upcoming GCW revamp.

Hopefully after smugglers get some attention though.

This was based on the assumption that Ranger will be a hybrid profession (something like Scout/Marksman). Ranger is the only prof that requires mastery of another profession, so it's likely they'll change this. Although my numbers were still off... You´d have 23 points left over if Ranger requires something like Marksman 0004 and Scout 4000 (exact trees don´t matter, so long as one branch in two novice professions).

That would be Ranger as in Antarian Ranger! You do know about the Star Wars universe right?

By the same account, what is so Smuggler about urban stealth and stealing. Han Solo, wasnt much of covert operative was he, especially with the walking carpet in tow.

But yeah, lets forget the ranger revamp, and of course the smuggler missions they are hinting are linked to it.

I'm glad the Rangers are gettin' some lovin', they've been needing some content for some time now. It looks pretty interesting too, here's to hoping everything goes well and gets implemented smoothly.
