The big problem is that BH's will spend a LONG time and A LOT in droid costs to just determine if a mark is online..... that is a HUGE kick in the crotch.
I see the reasoning behind this change, whatever it is, as a bigger problem... sure, it's impractical enough to hunt Jedi as it is without this added hassle, but what I'm interested in is what exactly brought on these changes - what were the problems that were supposed to be "solved" by this, and why did they think that this was the best way to solve them.
- Griefing - Jedi get griefed by guilds and players set out to ensure they NEVER level up.
- Appeasing the Jedi players - moving bounty missions to the master box has NOTHING to do with griefing, game balance, or ANYTHING
Why moving missions to the master box was put in BLOWS MY MIND. There is no reason for it, and the only people who call for it are Jedi, Jedi pretending to be BH's on the BH forum, and a few egocentric actual BH's.
That is the most disturbing thought of all....
Though I must say that without limiting Jedi on the terminals to online Jedi and putting in a factional marker, these changes to the BH system will function to harm bounty missions to a very large degree.
Think I'll be giving up MBH for something else to go with MS...I didn't hunt Jedi anyway but still, why have a profession that is becoming more of a hassle than its worth.
My TKM/MDancer gave up dancing for Master Pikeman. I'd love to go back to entertainer/fighter but SOE has made entertainers useless to the rest of the game and the combination isn't competitive in fighting at all with the drastically reduced health.
*sigh* What a mess this game has become. It really is becoming Jedi On-line. Just the other day I watched 3 Jedi farming fp off low level Rebel Commandos outside Coronet starport for at least an hour. No one bothered them and their pile of dead NPCs. It was the most immersion-breaking crap I've seen in a while.

I feel ya. Something inside of me feels that the whinning on the Jedi boards pulls alot more weight than we could all comfortably admit to ourselves. If they added penalties for BH who fail Jedi missions, I would seriously quit this game.
I must say very seriously that there are probably two reasons why these changes were put in:
- Griefing - Jedi get griefed by guilds and players set out to ensure they NEVER level up.

I saw a Twilight Zone episode last night. In it, a man from the future goes back in time on missions set to change the course of world events. He goes back to Hiroshima before the atom bomb fell, but no one listens. He goes back and tries to kill Hitler, but something went wrong. He tried to save the Lucitania from being sunk and prevent the U.S. from being drug into the world war, but they thought he was crazy.
It got me thinking... if I could go into the past and do the same thing, one of them would be to go to the developers before this game went live and tell them that this game will turn into Jedi wars unless Jedi are not offered as a profession. People told me this a year or two ago, but I honestly thought there were completely out of their mind and that they were being pessimistic. Somehow I feel like that Japanese man standing in the blast from that bomb....

Unfortunately, the only possible reason is to reduce the BH impact on Jedi levelling. I say 'unfortunately' not because I'm a BH - I'm not - but because there is no talk of dealing with the Jedi in the GCW.
It's the mostmiserably shortsighted, pathetically absurd plannign I've ever seen.
It's like having a kiddies party in your front garden but leaving the gate to the road open. It's like reviving a pride of tranquilised lions while you're in the cage. It's like starting to mop your kitchen floor from the door.
It's Jurassic Park.
You are dead on the money. I have seen many decisions made like this in the game. It means that who is making them doesn't really have the right resources to make the decisions or they don't think about the decisions at all. It has to be one of the two. If it is the first reason, there are solutions to get better information. If it is the second, then it points to someone in the upper eschalons of the decision making process who is concerned with marketing. This points directly at someone in the Lucas Arts offices.

Also, at novice dancer or higher, dancers can duel wield props.
This is actually the best part of that post. I read it earlier today on the Dev tracker and wanted to post here about it. If they can code this, then you know that they could code in duel wielding in combat....they just need to hammer out the mechanic.
Even though they keep saying it won't happen for a long time, seeing this makes me think that it may not be as long as we think.
I can't wait to try this out with my SS alt.
What are you expecting with Dual Weild? To double your DPS? Its not going to happen. Things are ballanced now.
Are you just looking for the "coolness" factor? The eye candy of dual wielding? Then I can understand that.

On point #1... I was told a while ago by an angry group of players that, "we are going to hunt you until you quit." Not my fault they were not defending their PVP bases though
. I've been averaging about 1 BH every 2 weeks post CU, but a padawan I've helped grind got 16 in 5 days at one point. Worst is the hate spent by people who hunt Jedi for the point of making them lose as much exp as possible, and they are able to take the same mission over and over with norepercussions.
Simple fact is that my BH/Smuggler is still goingto be able totake bounties, but I won't have the same tools available to grief other players. Itruely feel for the RPBountyHunters because a bunch of jerks hijacked the profession.

I think there aren't as many jerks as you play out to be. You just remember the jerks more. When I was a BH, I did my job then left. I didn't say a word unless they were cool people. 90% of the hate tells I got, I ignored.
I added those two reasons as serious points. The fact that you confirm the first is a testament to my seriousness. I think that if you think about it long enough, there is no valid reason for the decision of moving missions to the master box other than giving into player whinning. There is no other unless MBH's figure into the new FRS.
I'm also hoping they throw BH's a bone or two in this regard. Show online status, faction, whatever. But some more information.
Moving jedi missions to MBH seems ok. You're a master. You now get to hunt the biggest bounties. Makes sense. I noticed they used the word player instead of jedi... maybe smugglers are soon to come.
I can see it now...
A Bounty Hunter approaches his spynet informant...
Bounty Hunter: I need the Bio Signature for this Jedi.
Spynet Informant: Who?
Bounty Hunter:No not Who, he'son Kashyyyk, I just came back from there and couldn't find him. I need the Bio-Sig for ths one now.
Spynet Informant: Who is it?
Bounty Hunter: Doh, I already told you that Who is on Kashyyyk.
Spynet Informant: Dammit! You need the Bio-Signature for which then?
Bounty Hunter: No, no, no. Which is in Space, so I can't get him there or Who which ison Kashyyyk...
Spynet Informant:Who whichis on Kashyyyk? What?
Bounty Hunter: Noooooooooooo! What is my wife... I can't go for her! Just give me this damn Bio-Sig and I'll let ya live!
Spynet Informat: For who???!!
(Blaster fire is heard and the smell of burnt Spynet Informant floats over the beach chairs of Kadaara)

I'm excited about the no names. Too many wanker BH's running around trying to grief specific people. The payout indication also bothers me slightly. There is a drastic disparity between how much you get hunted at 50k and 150k, so I understand trying to balance that out. But it feels wrong. Very wrong. Deeply wrong.

Please define "griefing specific people".
