I haven't seen this posted here yet and just found this bug myself (my poor DL44 ) so I thought I'd warn everyone appropriately.

This is a description of what happened to my DL44 blaster while doing a level 4 speed slice with a speed powerup installed on the weapon. I don't have the base speed stats available so I can only give you my modified stats but it still shows somethin aint right here.

Modified Speed with a level 3 speed slice and 32% speed PUP:

0.8

I eventualy got myself a delicate trigger and so did a full level 4 speed slice. Bizarely, the speed changed too:

Modified Speed with a level 4 speed slice and 32% speed PUP:

1.2

Something clearly wasnt right there. I removed the PUP, the speed changed to:

Modified Speed with a level 4 speed slice:

1.5

I uncrated another PUP, which is therefore exactly the same as the PUP that had brought the speed down to 0.8 before and this is what I got:

Modified Speed with a level 4 speed slice and 32% speed PUP:

1.01

So now my pistol with a 12% speed slice and 32% speed PUP has a SLOWER speed than it had before a 7% speed slice and 32% speed PUP.

To make sure this wasnt a random event, I tried it on a proton carbine that had a level 3 speed slice and the exact same PUP as my pistol .. low and behold the same thing. The weapon winded up with a WORSE speed.

I don't know whats going on here, buth something clearly is broken and its messed up one of the best DL44 pistols I've seen on Starsider

Well this has definitely done the slice. I'll post the full stats of the weapon and one of you maths guys can calculate it to see if its generating the right speed.

My personal speed mods:
+25 Pistol speed
+65 General ranged speed

Pistol Stats:

+0.75 speed PUP
12% Speed slice

Attack Speed: 1.57

Modded: 1.01

Damage: 387 -940

DPS: 423

MDPS: 655

Before the Speed slice, the stats where:

Pistol Stats:

+0.75 speed PUP
7% Speed slice

Attack Speed: 2.1 (I believe, not possitive)

Modded: 0.8

Damage: 387 -940

DPS: Unknown

MDPS: 860

So you can see from this there is a radical difference going on here...

This was a bug that was being exploited pre-CU -- PUPed weapons could be sliced for better-than-intended results. Then SOE fixed it so you had to remove the power-up before slicing.

Apparently the bug is back in game, but obviously no one would want to slice a PUPed weapon based on your experience, so maybe this is a low priority bug at this point.

However, they really should reinstate the code that forced you to remove the PUP before slicing -- people who don't know what effect this has will lose a good weapon, as you apparently did.

That's what I suggested when I reported the bug. No word as yet though.

I've been telling all my customers remove pups first...I'm tired of doing it myself!

And some weapons are 'not complex enough' or whatever the message is to get any beyond lvl 1 and 2 speed and damage slices.

And for heaven's sake, make sure they do NOT biolink it first!!! Cannot slice after biolinking!!

if your going to slice with a power up on your weapon which i dont recommend doing but if your slicing speed put a power up on the weapon that makes it slower 2.5 without Pup 2.84 with Pup then when you speed slice it you'll end up with a larger speed decrease once you remove the Pup and re-apply one. dont know why you would make the weapon faster with a Pup before slicingsince when you slice it the decrease in speed would be less.

But theres no real point in slicing with a Pup on your weapon its only increases your Base DPS 4 to 5 points which doesnt make a difference in a fight but maybe 8-10 more damage a hit

Might want to check what happens if you slice a weapon that has a +speed powerup instead of a -speed on it, might work the other way around

I really don't think it was sliced before, though. I got it with my Jedi and dropped it in my house when I cancelled it. It sat there for a while then when I reactivated my Smuggler I got the radial to come up, but couldn't slice it. I also had a bag of DOT weapons from before the revamp which I know were 100% unsliced because I was afraid of weapon decay back then before there were anti-decay kits. I got the radial to come up on all of them but could only slice about half of them or so.

But it doesn't matter anymore it's all gone. I should have /bugged it I suppose. Oh, well.

from my understanding it can be sliced up until it is biolinked to someone. Sliced a katarn knuckler last night no problems. I agree with others that puped weapons should not be able to be sliced until after the pup is removed. Also "weaponsalready at cap"should tell you that you are unable to slice for whatever slice (speed or damage) and NOT consume the slicing component. Once the critical chance slice actually does work it should be able to be sliced on all weapons regardless of weapon stats. We should have one slice at least that we can do on a weapon regardless if its at its damage or speed cap. Critical chance adds to the weapon a new statistic and should be allowed even when damage or speed slices are not able to be sliced due to the weapon already being at its max quality range.

Well, I've had a reply letting me know they've received the issues sheet.

Edit: As well as a thank you along with it. Reply came quite quickly after I emailed it.
