Thread: Now that things might be going our way....
Let's show people how classy we know we are.
(Although I must confess it is so hard to write this without mentioning a certain profession which seems to be, ironically, filled with self-centered power addicts, but that would be going negative and, at the risk of forever losing my master cynic, I don't want to go there....)

Such naysayers are not going to change the minds of the developers. My advice would be to leave such posts to die out on their own.
You get that straight from a dev?
If so, I feel a whole lot better...
As it is, my ID-10-T file keeps growing...

Actually...that's not too far off from what I've been experiencing...

This is probably what is least surprising to me.
We know it's something we're going to hear, and we know who the likely sources are, down to specific people in some cases. The worst part about this is that there is an actual fear of the nonsense effecting the outcome of our profession.
The truth is that our profession is really not getting anything totally new. The slicing interface will give us more control over the upgrades, which in turn benefits all players. Spices will no longer be crafted, but recieved through missions. This has no effect on anything without the spices becoming more valuable. If they become more valuable, once again, this benefits all players. We will now get to smuggle, which is something we should have been able to do from the beginning. This is the only thing that solely benefits us.
As for the prospect of money, I must say it's a long time coming. A non combat Smuggler had no chance to make money (other than often grossly underpriced slices) without picking up another profession, usually weaponsmith or armorsmith. A combat Smuggler has to take another combat profession in order to get high paying missions to earn money. If anything, the Revamp will put us on par with other professions.
Finally I'd like to point out one thing to the naysayers. Had this profession been complete at launch, or at the very least revamped shortly after launch like a few others, we would be moving on to more in depth systems at this point. If things had been done right from the beginning, we wouldn't be dealing with the perceptions and opinions of the player base that interfere with things like a legitimate contraband system.
I know you all know this, it's just something that needs to be said sometimes. I plan on sticking to my guns with this one. If someone wants to put forth a legitimate argument, I'll debate them on it. If someone wants to put forth a whine, I probably won't even respond.
Now if I see things change because of whiners, I'll cancel my account faster than they can respond. What bothers me most at this point is what appears to be cowardice in the matter so far. I see who's talking about it. It makes it pretty apparent whereand whatthings are being said, and even to some extent by whom. I think it speaks of their true nature, and, for some of them, their agenda should be blatantly transparent by now.
It all comes down to one thing though. It's time to start moving forward with the changes to the game. The longer they delay something as basic as the sandbox, the more petty people will become.

I think that happens with all professions and the dev's know it. Problem is many people dont understand any profession history, just pissed that they get no love. After 2yrs of waiting anyone that tries to cry about us getting any love will just get a /rolleyes and an lol from me. I wont let them bother me....n00bs with out a clue.
Funny thing to me is when you see a profession that has already had a revamp saying they need another one.
What annoys me the most is that Smugglers have been so supportive of other professions and their need for fixes. I don't see that changing anytime soon, nor do I see Smugglers calling for huge revamps foruntil those professions get their fixes.
This has to be one of the most patient (or masochistic) group of people I've ever known to stick with something so profoundly screwy for so long, and for anyone to hold a grudge against us for any reason shows just how petty and small minded they really are.

Well here's this for an example. Because we get content and a role in the CU, a few people think the role in the CU should be virtually removed. Apparently the ability to slice, sell faction and have missions is too much for them as far as credit income and thus believe everything we would receive in the CU should be blown away.
yup, well said
It's amazing the things people say when they feel left out. One can only hope that the devs are smart enough to ignore them.
