We really need to watch out for those that envious of the attention we may be getting. There are gonna be folks who are going to wail and gnash their teeth about how smugglers get 'more content' than other professions. Hell it's allready begun (there are a very few of you who know what I'm talking about). We cannot, however, let these naysayers get to us. If we feed the trolls and envious types that are sure to come a posting we will just feed the flames.Flame wars and angry discussion are notgoing to serve our cause right now. Let's try to let go of some of the anger and pent up rage and put our best foot forward

Who in their right minds would complain about us getting attention?

That's the problem, they aren't in their right mind

Well here's this for an example. Because we get content and a role in the CU, a few people think the role in the CU should be virtually removed. Apparently the ability to slice, sell faction and have missions is too much for them as far as credit income and thus believe everything we would receive in the CU should be blown away.

probably the best thing to do is place it a clicky to the histroy of the smuggler as written by the devs. Tell them to read it and if they still don't think we need some love then ignore them.
/shrug.
I remember seeing the post of one Jedi asking if "Jedi" could slice their own light sabers

There are some professions that do have needs to be fixed, SL is one and pistoleer. But after smuggler gets fixed, i for one will be signing petitions on other professions boards to help them too

Better yet, Ender, this was this one Jedi who wanted to "Force Slice" all Slicable things(back when they could wear armor), in which the Jedi would use the Force to Slice gear without the need of slicing tools...

Good call with this. If people start trolling around this forum or the concept threads about how other parts of the game need more attention than we do, or that smugglers will be overpowered and much too rich, etc., there's no need to get into it with them. In this case, their opinion doesn't matter; we don't have to justify ourselves. Everyone's got their own idea for what part of the game needs the most work, and I understand why a small set of people might resent us just for getting a revamp, but it'll only stir up more anger to debate any of that. I can't think of any way it could help.
Ha ha, okay, now I need to pause to have a good laugh about the prospect of us ever being too strong or too rich.. whew. No doubt the concepts laid out so far will help us, but we're still going to be the hybrid profession that is neither as powerful as a combat character or as rich as a crafting character. I didn't really understand the advantage a devoted elite profession has over our hybrid until I picked up shipwright and my bank account started going up like something that goes up really fast. I mean, smuggler's enough to make a living, but unless you're Geevo, you'll never get rich off it. (Not to mention the massive combat difference between master pistoleer, one of the most gimped elite combat profs, and Marksman Pistols IV.. man, do I feel hopeless in ground combat these days, lol.)
Really nice foresight here, BMF. Funny you can be a regular here for ages and still be impressed by the wisdom of the community on a daily basis.

If you think about it, smugglers should make quite a bit of money. They should simply have a tendency towards not being able to keep any of it. Gambling, fake IDs, ship repairs, drinks, these things add up
So anyone saying that smugglers shouldn't make alot of money, and that it doesn't fit with the universe, they're wrong. Look at the really big smugglers who made entire organizations. They probably didn't make more money than any other smuggler at first, they just used it toward improving business, not towards another round of drinks.
That force slice thing made me smile

Smuggler money is not my prime source of income but then I am a fighting Smuggler. You can make ok money slicing and selling faction but both of rthese require cash on hand and time to do.
A fighter type still can get money faster by buffing up and going for loot. I really cant understand why someone would be so unhappy for a group that finally gets some attention after over a year of frustration. If anything where I a Squad Leader or other neglected class I would be thinking "Wow the finally gave the Smugglers something maybe we are next"
