Thread: My gripe for the day...
other branches are more difficult but I never felt a compulsion to drop SA to
find out. This is basically what I did and I can remember only two times where I
was blown sky high... my first attempts to see how tough a 7-turret gunboat was
and the corvette itself. Everything I did is from a solo perspective, I play
during times where grouping is rarely an option.
- Tier 1:
- I just killed spawns from tatooinedestroy missions to get the xp.
- I trained Chassis, then components, droid program and special moves.
- Get into a Dunelizard chassis. This thing will last you till tier 4.
Good maneuverability with fairly good mass.
- I just killed spawns from tatooinedestroy missions to get the xp.
- Tier 2:
- I went to Lok space. There are some neutral ships that don't fire till
you fire at them. Kept killing them till my eyes bled and it was always a
1vs1 encounter unless one of my stray shots hit another. Can't remember the
waypoint offhand, it's been a while. The Kimos that spawn around that little
mining station also work well. About 3k a kill but if you don't keep on your
toes they can and will turn your ship into scrap.
- Trained Components, Droid Program, Specials and Chassis.
- I went to Lok space. There are some neutral ships that don't fire till
- Tier 3
- Did the missions I highly recommend getting Droid programs first.
- If you haven't already arranged to mix and match your droid programs
with other pilots, do so now.
- Proper use of shield shunt/reactor overloadfrom privateer,
weapon overcharge/Engine overload from imperials and one of the shield
strengthening programs from the rebels can and will do wonders for your
combat abilities. Use them often. Tier 3 programs tend to be among the
best balanced for performance and cost. Doing little to no permanent
damage to your ship.
- Droid programs gave me the edge to solo every last oneof my
missions. The only mission that I had real trouble with from here
onwas the corvette.Never underestimate them.

- Worked through the missions... trained when able. No xp was required for
these boxes so just have fun.
- I went Droids, Components, Chassis, Specials for training.
- Did the missions I highly recommend getting Droid programs first.
- Tier 4
- At this point, you might want to try out the Rihkxxyrk ship chassis. It
has really good weapon placementson the nose of the ship and high
mass. When you have 3 blasters hitting a ship at the same time due to the
low spread... they go down fast. Moves like a brick though.
- I used the dantooine(? been a while) destroy missions religiously to
gain XP. If I remember right I was getting almost 400k xp per completion of
the mission.
- Aggressors were the 'leader' ships if I remember right. The trick to
these guys was jousting as their main strength is they can fire at
you easily if you try and follow them. Save yourself a lot of trouble and
do not follow these things. Unless of course you disable their turret.
Make them come to you.
- Jousting: For those unfamiliar with it. Basically think of it as the
knights in shining armor encounter.
- You start on opposite sides of the field, head straight at each
other and focus your fire. Without the edge in being able to fire at
you reliably while maneuvering, the aggressors aren't half as tough.
- If you can't disable the turret the first pass, booster and
haulbutt the moment they aren't in your targeting reticule.
Otherwise they will fire at you from behind and rip you a new one.
- Repeat as necessary till their turret/engine whatever you are
using to cripple their ship is disabled. Then destory as you
wish.
- You start on opposite sides of the field, head straight at each
- I lovedstrengthening my front shields at this point with the
rebel programs and using shield shunt to keep them happy while jousting.
Worked great for me.

- Read up on how to kill these guys on the forums. Some great guides out
there on how to kill one.
- Don't be afraid to die and bring repair kits.Yah it's great to
brag about it if you were able to manage it without any of your team biting
it but what matters is getting the job done. I think I died about 8-10 times
bringing mine down. Mostly because I had toattemptit solo. I
don't recommend doing it that way though.
- Get friends to help you out if possible.
- Most important things I used at this point?
- Space Bombs
- The best shields I could find combined with my droid programs. To give
me a few more seconds of life to launch another volley of space bombs.
- IFF Transponder Scramble. As you start out neutral to the corvette, or
at least I did when I was doing this (I don't know howTEF changes
altered this encounter if at all)... I'd do as much damage as I could with
my space bombs and hit the scramble. Saved me all kinds of gunboat
gang-banging.

The neutral commands, capacitor to shield shunt, capacitor overload, and reactor overload should all help you alot Digi.
It's not TOO complicated to get your droid to work, just make sure you are using the highest level droid you are certified for, and grab you some unprogrammed chips. Right click on them, load in those programs, open your driod interface, load them in there and VOILA!
Reactor overload should help keep all of your components functioning and having enough power to do so, the capacitor overlaod should help make sure you ahve plenty of capacitor energy for shooting and for the capcitor shunt program, which drains energy from your weapons capacitor and puts that into shields to replenish them some.
Hope that helps, good luck with Pilot!

I learned that you only need xp to complete the rest of tier 1.
So I went out and killed a buncha stuff and got through it... when I was able to get 1100 I got a buncha new components and now I enjoy flying.
I've been flying around Lok for the past few days and now am already on tier 3
So... don't give up hope, the falcon is still in reach.
3 days!!!!
Are we talking like 72hrs straight? Cause I can't seem to get past 1-1-2-1...
I sux....

Just a tip, go for 1221 next, then 1222 after 2222, 2322 and then 2323.
A Freelancer should aim first for the Dunelizard. Then the primary target are better components, secondary programs. I tend to use shields with a limiter on the maneuverable ships. Also I found that guns with a high refire are much more usable than high damage ones, especially in a turret. Of course you should get those helpfull programs from every profession, engine and weaponovercharge are realy powerfull programs, even at a lower level than 3. Somewhere you have to cut size
. From the rebel side you should get the shield normalisation, i like my shields balanced.
I should stop now... sometimes I think I should start a flying academy ![]()

I hate pilot so bad.
I can't fly worth crap, I can't finish missions in time. I'm only 1000 and I've failed the mission im on 8 times.
I'll never have a yt1300
Upon my return to SWG , when ever that will be, if you still are in need of help I will get you to and through master.
Since I am such a nOOb in flying, and I have joined the privateer Ranks on Coronet, what will my title/badge be when I finally master pilot?
I really want to be in the Smuggler Alliance as I have noticed in some of your sigs. Can this be achieved?

Can this be achieved? It is CorSec Ace Pilot if I am not mistaken (My BH is in there, but I haven't mastered it yet... i think i am not even 2222 with him...). For the SA you have to go to Mos Eisley into the backroom of the cantina
Do I need to run missions? Or is this a whole different pilot tree to go up?
