SC,

You may have been one of the more negative but you know I have been one of the most positive. I know this was received well by a huge portion of the community. However, there are still some very vocal folks out there saying they are unhappy with the proposed changes and reacting with cynicism or outright disappointment. Even though the proposed changes fit in with what we have all been asking for, there are already claims that the proposed changes will hurt or go against the community. I am just trying to point out how foolish that is...and that there are some people who will never be satisfied. I hope the rest of the community will continue to rally 'round the cause and drown out the loud-mouth naysayers The constructive feedback (such as discussing ways to implement boutnies) is great, and I do not consider that negative at all!

Badrunner,
In most of the proposed player BH systems I've read there would be NO forced PvP.
You would be quite aware of the 'deadbeat' level you had obtained and you'd simply lower it by taking less rewarding missions and completing them and not cheat your contracts to the point you get assigned to a BH term.
Other scenarios have only certain missions that risk being placed on the terms for failure.
Neither way are you forced into PvP unless YOU choose to go that far. I see no problem with these ideas.

This makes sense, but i can forsee many scenarios in which you get your deadbeat level increased which you can do nothing about. Lets say for instance getting killed causes you to fail, then your in space doing your normal bit of smuggling, having to fight the standarad police type pilots on your average smuggling misson, but unluckily this happens right on a spwan of tier 5 opposing faction ships that kill you. Or if missions have some time limit and you take one, but cant finish due to some real life problem, or a computer crash, or a power outage or whatever. Basically if there is the possiblilty of forced pvp im not happy, as that can in no way make the game fun for me. However i do sympathise with the players that want this, and i understand to them that this would be fun (and lets face it if a game isnt fun it aint worth playing), so if its incorporated in a suitable way that wont spoil my play experience, but improve the play experience for those that want it then i would be very happy. Of course the other problem is having teams of smugglers/bhs that exploit the system by deliberately getting large bounties, then getting their bh friends to kill them and splitting the reward, which i imagine would have to be quite substantial for a player bounty system to even be worth it.

Your point about having certain missions that may make you get a player bounty also make some sense, however my concern here would be that for these to be worth taking the rewards would have to be great, and if as a side effect the rewards for npc bounty missions are small then it essentialy turns smuggler in to a potential pvp only proffesion.

All of my concerns are solveable, and simply boil down to keeping smuggler a viable non pvp proffession. Any system that can make the pvp crown and people like myself happy would be very welcome.

Seriously how often is this going to happen? And I am talking about a single individual. That can't possibly completly and forever destroy your fun gaming experience.

Actualy lots of positiviety, and open disscussion about up coming changes.....

There are those of us that never pvp and want it to remain a choice if we do or not....

Though majority do not like the spice tree there are those of us that did, and enjoy crafting and selling.

We are conserned about our favorite template tkm/pistol/smuggler and see what changes that has in store for us.

Any time core systems are changed within a class folks will disscuss if for any reason for their ideas to be heard............

From what I am reading the changes all make us closer to a Smuggler then anything we had before so I am very happy.

As for not liking PVP well so far there is no new PVP for Smugglers and in every proposed change to put us on the terminals I have seen you have first take a hard mission and 2nd either fail it or steal the cargo. So I see no way any Smuggler would ever be forced to PVP they would allowed to how ever if that was what they wanted to do.

I for one will be getting the hardest mission for the most dangerous spice I can find and stealing it the moment it is live.

I'm pretty happy about the announcement...it shows acknowledgement and concern and a desire to move the profession forward...even if the details aren't perfect yet the fact that talk has begun and progression is on the agenda is I think a huge boost to our morale

I'm happier than a calf starin at an open gate! And since I've been mostly lurking for about a month or two I speak objectively saying...we've come a long way, baby. The Smuggler Forums were on the virge of riot not long ago. I think by an large everyone is smiley. Continuing to ask for more is not negative in my book. And the proposed changes look golden to me.
