I like it because it's versitle. I'm gonna also master pistoleer, get arisan 0040 (for selling sliced weapons and armor), novice medic and still have enough points for a few boxes in scout. I think it leaves me with 1020 in scout. With a good harvester droid, you can get a decent amount of hide or meat. So you can basically do it all. Business, hunting, crafting, slicing and fighting. Plenty of ways to make dough and still be a pretty good fighter. You may not be soloing elders, but you can mop up Fort Tuskan and other mid-level to lower high-end mobs.

I have master Ranger Alt so the scout is no issue. My problem is I Hate to drop professions. OnceI master. Thus Master Ranger.

Check this out.

Master Smuggler/Imperial Ace/ Master Marksman/BH pistols 2/ Comando Flamethrower 1/Pistoleer 0/0/0/1

Rofl so many things i can goto or stay. Really I want to stay Master but on bria its like TKM you fall allover them. Do i become a Slicebot? Sell Faction Perks? Be a Pusher? See my dilema. PVP is for space for me so thats a non issue.

Yeah Go where im happy. But The grass is always greenr ya know what I mean.

Unless you're a true-blue Master Masochist there probably isn't any reason to keep it.

I, on the other hand, love the self-flagilation of waiting for SOE devs to actually give us something to smuggler.

Well My Alt is Master Ranger.

If you were on Corbantis I'd give you a lot of work...

Very hard to find a smuggler now-a-days, let alone one that will slice my suits of armor for less than I bought them for....

I was Master Smuggler once, all it was was like a 2k investment (AUKS, WUKs, Clamps, Knives) and get a nice profit for 100 credits per % increase. Reason methinks Smugglers are rare is because its like 8-12k a piece of armor, and w/ the new solo group nerf its makes it hella hard.

I know you guys are hurting, I was there, but the rareness and high prices only hurt the demand of smugglers more I think.

I have been slicing lately. Scylla has smugglers but not alot, seems the thing to do is hook up with an elite cratfer of armor or weapons and slice crates for a base price. But for pve/p feign death is pretty nice, I would keep as much of that as you can if you choose to move on, or as you move on.

Well is there something else you would rather do? If so, go for it and have fun.

I stay a Master Smuggler from a personal need to be one. I would love this profession even if all it did was let us wear pirate gear. It's up to you whether or not what you have is enough for you and how you would better enjoy your gameplay and time.

Amen to that. /passes a bottle of brandy to Smuggler_Caylin

well i wouldn't become a slice-bot, that just plain sucks.

Personally i use the Underworld tree to buy faction stuff for myself and friends, spices i very rarely make, Dirtyfighting for a backup when people run away from my TK range, and last but not least slicing, is i very high demand, but i only slice for myself and trusted friends.

If you ask me sliced weapons and armor is far to common, getting something sliced should be like a Wow thing, that why i don't slice for the public. Ofcourse if you offer my something good i might get my laserknives out, but that doesn't happen very often, most people think slices are 100creds per % or some fixed price like 3k.

So basicly i keep Master because of the coolness factor and to help my friends.

Picking on me now Starbane ?

I keep smuggler becauseI knewI wanted to become one even before I got the game... So i have been smuggler for about 10 months now and I will stay one, no matter what happens

Personally, I feel that the Smuggler profession chooses you instead of you choosing Smuggler. Either you'll love it, despite all the flaws, or you'll hate it, drop it, and move on.

I'll occasionally find myself wondering why I'm still a Smuggler after all this time, but then I'll look at the alternative professions and realize that there's really nothing else that I care to be doing. And, as Nick said, there's no better community to be a part of.

Shoot...even my Merchant alt is part Smuggler (UW 4).

I'm a Smuggler indefinitely as well. There's just no other option for me. The profession sucked me in completely, and I find myself hard pressed to deny it's calling.

I loved the profession - honestly. I felt it was worth fighting for, and was eager for the profession to get revamped as promised. I have always felt a kinship with Han Solo and love the Falcon and what it represents. Heck, I was even going to have a personal tag for my 'vette that read MFALCON, because of the speed I have at my fingertipsand the feeling of freedomthe cargives me on a sunny day.

Over time, however, as a result of the constant disappointment and the constant arguing and trying for a better profession, I didn't like what SOE's treatment of smuggler was doing to me on a personal level. Here I am, a paying customer like everyone else in the game, and yet my profession continues to get battered at and damaged, while being promised fixes "soon" andin "a matter of time" with no follow through.

I love the game and love spending time with my friends in it. Even my wife started to play; but if I didn't do something to alter my attitude and mood, dire consequences were on the horizon. So, to save my interest in the game, I had to take a step back from smuggler and go on a different path for a while. And its been wonderful so far.

All the same, I am collecting locked containers and storing them, for the day that I start to hear things about a smuggler revamp on TC; I will have a mad slicing party and get my master tag back within a matter of hours, since all I need to do is get the spices line and the rest of slicing (I have enough pistol XP stocked up to get underworld back within minutes).

I will still be a part of this community, and I am still a 1140 smuggler. I am just not a master any longer as I felt that my skill points could be spent in the pursuit of better effectiveness in the game.

Just my 2 cents.

If slicing is such a good deal, why don't you switch back? If you think the profit margin is high on smuggler, you should see the mark up on WS, AS and Chef. We smugglers put a large amount of time into slicing, well beyond the macro that a doc kicks off when buffing a buff line, or sticking a schematic in a factory. We have to be at the keyboard and clicking buttons to do a slice. We have to deal with 6-8 spots in our inventory dedicated to crates of the stuff.

as for the original poster..if you have to ask, drop it. Its a game, you should play a profession that you like. If you like it, there should be no question as to whether you should drop it or not.

it's a public service profession, like a doc and a taillor. If you don't like working for people, shouldn't have done it. Our combat tree is nearly worthless, but thankfull we have something. A lot of people I know that go smuggler abandon it when they realize that the concept of the profession is to work for other people, and the money doesnt come in like the other service profs.

You did it because its cool to be a master smuggler.

Its not important if you keep the title or all the skills to be a master smuggler in game ... in fact I would recommend you drop boxes for a while and dabble into other stuff for fun (I did this after being Master Smuggler for over a year). You WILL be a Master Smuggler if you feel like a master Smuggler. You can always grind up in a few days to be able to flash the title around.

Organize smuggling events pitting player BHs and overt Imperials against your smuggler kin (if they get caught, they have to accept the duel) and be sure to extend the hunts into space. If the loot is interesting to both hunted and hunter (e.g. a DE 10 pistol) and the smuggler has to hand over a proxy item if (s)he is defeated (that will be exchanged for the true price) then you will get participants. In short, until SOE implements a smuggling system, create your own smuggling missions :-)

Have fun

I had a Master Smuggler on Eclipse, and I ended up switching servers to play with friends. And I'm working my way towards Master Smuggler again.
A Smuggler is what I want to be. I liked it. I'm a Smuggler's Alliance pilot, when everyone I know is Imperial. I hope that at some point, Smuggler will be something really awesome, like it has the potential to be.
But for the time being, I enjoy being a sneaky b*stard, just for the sake of it... even though I don't have much in the way of sneaky b*stard skills.
And it wasn't even about the money; I sliced for free for anyone I knew, and didn't advertise my services. I kept the Master Smuggler tag up, and if someone found me, I'd slice for them.

Sometimes you just find a profession that fits for you. Smuggler is that for me, come what may with broken content. If nothing else, it keeps me entertained with something to complain about, and a cause to fight for.
