I think this is a much better way to do it, rather than have to "permanently" alter your character's physical appearance with an Image Designer. Sure you could get your look changed back, but that means a second ID session and the chances of you getting it back just how you had it before are slim.
A disguise kit would give the ID's a craftable element to increase their income without having to devote time to changing the appearance of every individual. It saves the ID's time, earns them more money, and it lets Smugglers lose some visibility (or even gain a better chance to slip past authorities somehow).

I really like this idea, but at the same time make it so only basic things cand be changed withough bieng a Smugg. What I don't want to see is the Jedi using this to reduce their visibility on BH terminals.
Basically make it part of our underworld treee.

I think you guys are right about the disguise outfit or costume or whatever. I think it would be better for the Image Designers (probably both more profitable and less time consuming) than actually changing the avatar of the character permanately in the salon. I also think it would be much easier for ALL the smugglers to accept rather than to expect them to accept changing their look that most of us took a great deal of trying to get the exact look we wanted. So you folks have changed my mind on my own idea (not sure if this is the first time this has come up or not, so if its not original please realize that I mean no offense). I am now against the permanant change of the avatar and in favor of the new disguise outfits. A nice tweak indeed.
