Thread: The Hunt: Whats your opinion?
I believe that has been mentioned many times in this post that if your gonna do it it must be a conscience act you must do something irregular that will have a benefit but also a drawback that yes you will be on terminals for this or something like that ect.

No, no, no, no, and no!!!
Here we go AGAIN with people wanting to force PVP on non-PVP players.
Where are these people who think that PVP-Only gaming is what everyone wants coming from??
The ONLY way I'd support this is if there was some form of option on the missions. "Increase your risk for higher payout, but have a bounty placed for failure." Of course, with combat as it is right now PVE wise, failure isn't likely, so put a time limit on it, and make the 'bounty-capable' missions spawn on a different planet. (with JTL that's not much of a time sink, but it's something). Also, if we're going to go this route, and both people have JTL, make the TEF carry to JTL for the smuggler/BH's also. If you are willing to accept the risk, you shouldn't be able to go hide in space until it clears. But I'd say BH needs to be able to use droids to track while in space, and droids should be able to locate targets in space also.
That way, if I don't want to do PVP, I don't have to, but those who DO like the idea of having bounties on their heads can get what they want too.
Then everyone is happy.

Scenario:I come up to any mission terminal and slice the terminal for increase payout (payout is doubled or tripled). I then upon failing the slice gain visibility or upon success gain no visibility and enjoy my nice payout once the mission is complete.I believe being caught by imperial npcs in a scan and revealed to be carrying illegal goods should increase visibility based on the severity of the item's illegality. You then have the option to give over the goods, run, or kill the npc and based on your action you will get no visibility or some and scaled up based on the item. This would affect all faction/neutral personnel. I think this is plenty fair. But giving smugglers bonuses to not being caught would have to come into play. And like before stated master smugglers slicing a bounty hunter terminal could clear a name if they are successful. But in order for this to work right clamps success % would have to be lowered for a chance of failure to happen. As it stands right now there is no real penalty for having illegal goods or performing illegal actions. This makes it unrealistic and takes away from the rpg this game is.
I like the idea, but I see a problem with it: it put us in the same bag as the Jedi, as a "always PVP enabled will eventually end up on the terms only by doing their day to day profession job" profession. PvP is forced on no one else in game and Jedi should stay the only profession it is the case. So while I DO agree the Imperial crackdown on contraband should be way more severe, I think I prefer to go on BH terminals for being greedy and taking a bigger payout mission with a bigger risk. (and as several mentioned a clearly stated risk of ending up with a PC bounty)

And the concept with the droids wasn't a terrible one. I would imagine such a process to implement droids of your own. For example you buy a droid from a DE (note: another chance to add content, new Smuggler only 'Interceptor' driods.) and program/slice its AI to intercept the tracking droids of the merc that has your bounty.
Oooohhhhh I like this idea.
Of course this is really going to get expensive quickly!!
And the Jedi will start screaming that they want them as well.
Would be interesting if the DE could make tracking droids and from those build interceptor droids that perfectly counterbalance their tracking droids. Give the DE a shady side "Hey BH "Joe" bought from me - does he have a bounty on your head? Well, have I got the droids for you then"
Ahh, nothing like idle speculation before thenerf train hits us ![]()
Cheers

I think it would be cool if Smugglers could take a mission from a Smuggler terminal for a huge Smuggle delivery mission (i'm also for optional PvP so not all would want to do this or their should be a way out or something...) and the Smuggler taking the mission woud generate a mission on the Bounty Hunter Boards. The Smuggler Mission would not activate until a BH picked up the mission. At that time the Smuggler would recieve directives for his mission and then it is a race. Smuggler must pick up travel and deliver said package before the BH could catch and destroy him. This would have to be balanced out somehow, like better waypoints for the BH than the Smug or something so that it is fair, but it would be fun. And during the activation of the mission the Smuggler/BH are overt to each other on the ground and in Space. That could be fun.
lol, doesn't this sound just a little backwards to you? I think for the most part 'Pirates' would only want to be hunted if they bosch a mission, or get caught by the Empire.
This isn't however, a terrible idea. It could actually be a really cool idea if they were to impliment a type of race terminal. Where a bounty hunter signs up on one end, and the Smuggler signs up on the other, then whoever completes the mission (killing the Smuggler, or delivering the goods) gets payed an enormous amount of cash. It would of course have to be anonymous to avoid exploiting, but still a cool idea.

Similar story-driven PvP/PvE missions/quests have already been suggested on JTL/Pilot boards as space missions - in my opinion it is a very good way to promote both PvP and roleplaying (since it effectively forces you into a 'role' in the quest) and add content at the same time.
