Undercutting is what petty criminals do.

Real criminals don't take it out on each other, they take it out on the customer.

When I first started out I charged 100 credits per % increase, then I changed to charging 5k per armor segment and 3k per weapon segment, and now its 5k foe every item sliced, 50k for a compo suit, the only people I dont charge are my friends or guildes. It's not like I depend on slicing, I like it it's a whole different way to make money, you talk yo people and socialize a bit, like yesterday i made 500k between slicing and selling fp, which really made my day, I was short on money and wanted to but that new wookiee armor lol... Anyways made me like my profession even more.

Also this is out of context, but what do you charge for selling FP?? I personally think that if you charge 125crd per fp your not making a lot of profit, i would like to charge 150 better... what do you fellow smugglers think?

Ive recently started a little racket. I buy grinding weapons (unmodified, good quality weps for grinding xp), I slice em then put them on my vendor of 4k over what I paid for the weapon. Trying to put together a deal with a MWS to simply buy crates of the most common weps, we'll see how that pans out.

For any slicing that people want me to do I'm currently charging 5k per slice, but Im seriously considering raising that as there just arent alot of Master Smugglers running around these days. Not to mention I know that when I was a BH I usually just paid 10k per slice to show my appreciation, plus any combat prof has the creds to burn especially if they are on one of the high level adventure planets. The fact that our slices are permenant is a good motivation to a higher slicing fee. However, the total randomness and chances of getting a "bad" slice is what is holding down my fee.

I dont really like slicing that much, its far too random and doesnt reflect any "skill" on the smugglers part. Any moron with a molecular clamp has the exact same chances of getting a good or bad slice as I do.

And forget selling faction, could they have possibly made that system more inconvieniant to use? I dont sell faction, its not worth my time. Kudos to anyone who has the patients to actually do it.

Theres one major difference between doctors and smugglers

High quality buff packs cost a bomb. Rare resources, really expensive as in 100cpu for the best quality stuff.

All MCs and PLKs are the same quality no matter what kind of resources you put in them. Same goes for WUKs and AUKs.

You're basically making profit from the fact that there arent any other Master Smugglers about which is fair, but then its also fair when someone comes along and undercuts you.

I agree, I am on Shadowfire and I mostly just slice for guildies, seldom slice for anyone else. However, recently I was introduce to friend of a friend, and accord to him, there are not that many smuggler left.

So sad.......

To all those who say "I charge what I what, 100cr/% is enough" heres my view... :

Yes, theres no game rule or mechanic that force you to raise your price, not even your fellow smuggler BUT we really should take pride in our work. I know we can use any crap ressource right now to make our slicing material, but this isn't only what customer are paying for heres a list... and why asking 5-10k (even higher)isn't asking much

-The fact that I used those sp to master smuggler to give out the best slice possible

-I had to get million of pistol xp without getting any better with it. ( painful if you aren't a pistoleer )

-Travel time, I often stop hunt halfway or miss the shuttle to give someone a slice, why should I travel a planet halfway to slice one weapon for 2-3k..

-Just how much do you think that 40-45%enc slicedcompo armor is worth now? same goes for high dmg/speed slice, you can easily raise the price of a weapon/armor 2x and much more.

-Permanent (sp?) increase to weapon/armor. Sure doc need quality ressource, but they also get a lot more customer as their buff wear out after 3hour. The guy who just had a whole set sliced probably won't be needing another one anytime soon.

- Having people asking me to pay them to OPEN their damn container, or just having to pay 6k for one. If I payed 6k for a container full of junk, why can't you pay 5-10k for a slice? ( lets mention slicing can be quite expensive togrind unless you got friend providing you container )

- Smuggler can hardly make any real creds until you get master or slicing4. Spice sale dropped 95% and selling faction require you to be really high in rank to make it worthwhile. Right now slicing is our only source of income.

-Master fighting proffesion can make 7k for a single mission on any regular planet. Lets mention that with vehicule it take now a minute max to reach that mission and that with doc buff any novice can go to any advanced planet, get in a solo group and make much much more. This game just got much easier, back in the day 100cr/% was ok because it actually took you some time to reach a mission and you had to go in a group for higher payout.

So yes, 100cr/% can hurt the other smuggler who use slicing as a source of income as people tend to expect every smuggler to charge as low. See it as local business trying to make a profit while theres a wal-mart nearby who sell everything cheap because they can afford to : P

Ok, lets look at that for a moment. A source of income. And since EVERYONE seems to want to use doctors as an example i'll do my own little example.

Doctors have to charge what they do because it costs them lots of money for the BEST resources. I know on bloodfin I see doctors asking for hte highest quality meat and paying upwards of 100cpu and higher for this. What do you think that just did to the buff prices? Of course, they just jumped. Now look at smugglers. You can use 1cpu aluminum to make clamps and knives. You can buy Auk's and Wuk's for 5k for a crate of 25. Basically about200 credits for one auk or wuk, 16 credits for a laserknife(at 1cpu), and 90

Now look at smugglers. You can use 1cpu aluminum to make clamps and knives. And you can buy auk's and wuk's for 5k for a crate of 25. That's about 200 credits for one auk or wuk used. Its about 90 credits or one molecular clamp used. And its about 16 credits to make one laserknife that has 10 uses to it. So that makes it worth about 1.6 credits for one use. And since you have to use to knives to do a slice that comes out to 3.2 credits for the knives. Add all that up and it comes out to about 294 credits per slice. With crap resources that is at 1cpu.

Now for me I charge 3k per slice. So if I use that I just made a profit from ONE slice at 3k of 2706 credits. Now in any business that would be considered great profit. Over 2700 credits for using 294 credits worth of tools for one slice. But because this is SWG and the economies have become sheeet, that profit % means diddly squat. Everyone seems to be getting greedier and greedier.

Now take into consideration the randomness of slicing and the resources used for slicing the highest price I could reasonably see being charged would be about 5-6k.And you can complain about the time it takes and blah blah blah, but the bottom line is if you have that Master Smuggler title up then you're already hoping for someone to send you a tell asking for a slice. So if you dont' want to waste the time to slice then put up a different tag. Simple as that.

I pretty much explained it all in my post, ressource cost isn't the only thing that affect the price of my slice ( read it all if you have time )

Rl example: when I got my tatoo done, that guy's ink probably didn't cost him hundred of dollar, and neither did its needle. I also payed for his skill/time/fact that I probably won't be getting another one tomorrow.

Randomness? sure, but you are certain to get an increase. Whining about a "bad" slice is like complaining that you only won 50$ at the lottery instead of the jackpot, you didn't got the best, but you still had something in return.

And... about the smuggler tag, I wear it because I mastered smuggler and consider it my main proffession, not because I necesserily want people to send me tell for slice, I often avoid large city because of that in fact.
