Its not about the master title, man. That's only text. Its that whole brotherhood thing.

We are all equal, I agree. But unfortunately, we Masters are just more equal than others, heh

Well, call me a heartless jerk, but I personally believe that unless someone is either a Master Smuggler, or going to be a Master, they aren't really a Smuggler, they're just a dabbler. I have BH Pistols IV, but I'm not a bounty hunter. I just dabble in their Pistol line to get some speed, accuracy, and a Scatter Pistol.

But hey... it's just my opinion.

all frikkin stackers and the 1337 pvpers......

in my book, you aint a smuggler until I see that Master Smuggler over you

im not a dabbler nor a stacker and as i said, i dont even pvp much with my bh. to me someonewho takes up grenadierand doesnt touch anything in commando wouldbe a dabbler.i had tosacrificed the ability to heal myself to be a smuggler. and guess what? i plan on staying a smuggler, so as long as it has abilities i want.i use the class every day, as for me not having a defining ability of the class, just what defines the class?if you think being a smuggler, makes younothing more than slice-whores then i guess im not one but i would have at least armor slicing if ididnt have run out of skillpoints.

although i am a mbh i have long since stopped taking bounties, player or npc, and i rarely use my lighting canon. am inot a bh? i do havethe title but i guess i dont do anything that you would define as the "defining" trait of the class.

im happy using pistols but at the same time i am not a master pistoleer. i do also consider myself a pistoleerbut i dont have access to what i guess is the "defining"thing of a pistoleer, the de-10. so inshort, if im not a smuggler, then im not a pistoleer and im not a marksman , i dont use anything from that really.

they say just the jedi/bh wanted feign to change but im quite happy with the change. true i am also a mbh and i realise theirony there but i am also still a smuggler. i love using pistols and lowblow i would say is a must, and last ditch is just nice to add. anyway, i call myself a smuggler and i thought feign shouldnt be in pvp. now will i drop smuggler all of a sudden? nope. do i now like the class less? nope.
i mean we all like what we like for various reasons, for me it was never about feigning in pvp, not that i pvp much although i did feign that one time while hunting a bounty but stood up some how while feigned and was incapped then killed. that wasnt a fair fight anyway.
how many of us are happy with this change?

You're a 'smuggler' if you spent the points for the novice box. You're a master if you spent the points for all the boxes.
All other divisions are strictly arbitrary, and vary person-to-person. This nonsense of 'you're not a smuggler unless you're a master' gets old quick. I've mastered the class more than once. For RP, I love it. For functionality, it sucks. It's a much-maligned, much-abused profession, and I dearly hope to see it altered to the point of usefulness and immersive capacity. Of the big three, Jedi, BH, and Smuggler define the genre for me.
I have one character who's smuggling, and one who's a Jedi right now, and I guarantee that if I slip over into the other thread about Feign Death, there'll be nothing but antipathy from the very class I have the most time in - because I have a Jedi. Doesn't matter that I didn't use FD once I started grinding Jedi. Doesn't matter that I've posted repeatedly in suggestion threads, polls, and ideas. Doesn't matter that I've sunk countless hours into a Smuggler-based fiction thread, or that I founded a guild that openly espoused drug use and mandated smuggler-style RP. Doesn't matter that I still have a factory full of crates of pixie and mol clamps that say 'Protest the Smuggler Pushback'. None of that matters, if you dare to disagree with the worshippers of the sacred cow. If you ain't wearing that tag, if you ain't flaming up and down about the changes... then by God, you're a dabbler, and despicable.
So, take any criticism or congratulations, including mine, with a healthy grain of salt.

My main toon is a Dirty Fighting/Flamethrowing/Brawling/Medicine Giving/Harvesting Master Pistoleer -- Whee!

My other toonisa Master Smuggler and dabbles -- working on Doctor (with a bunch of other odds and ends -- harvesting, artisan, etc.).

Until things change for Smugglers, my main will not Master "Smuggling" -- for me, it is not worth the points at this time.

But I am a Smuggler at heart. And no one can tell me otherwise

Smuggler is a state of mind more than a skill set. If you consider yourself a Smuggler at heart, then you are one.

But...

If you just picked up Smuggler on your alt to slice stuff for your WS/AS main, or you picked up Dirty Fighting to augment your "all pistols" template, or some other half-assed templating that involved some part of the Smuggler profession...then, NO...you're not a Smuggler.

I'm not going as far as saying that only true masters are Smugglers, as I know there are alot of "true Smugglers" out there with JUST Slicing, or JUST DF, and even a few with JUST UW.

Bottom line is, did you pick up Smuggler because of the profession, or because of the skills that it adds to your template?

A Smuggler cannot be measured by the boxes S/he has filled.

One could even have the Master box for the wrong reasons.

I am master smuggler just to slice armor...i dont consider myself a real smuggler, don't make spice, don't do any pistol fighting, don't use any of the underworld stuff....Just slice....and i love it. Never have put up the smuggler tittle because i dont do the profession justice.
