So SOE/LA are hiring in indie consulting groups to do their research because of what reason? They lack the skill and balls to do it themselves?
Cool, let's waste more time and money...
Well, they obviously haven't been doing too well until now . . .

independant as in SOE hired a private consulting group that probably specializes in aquiring market research.
Oh, and they suck by the way.
So Wes... Do me a favor and send me the profession's top ten in a PM.
HEY SOE, IF YOU WOULD LIKE SOME IDEAS, YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOOK VERY HARD TO FIND THEM.

Look at it this way.. it's cheaper for them to hire out the work to professionals for, say, $10,000, rather than hire a team of peopleat $5,000 eachto draft up a valid and relevant survey. It would be a severe waste of time and money to do it any other way.
It's a good thing they're doing this, but I disagree with their methodolgy. It would be much better if they designed an online survey and posted messages (emails) in game asking people to fill them out. But, then again, they may be doing this in a "focus group" style (open discussion), and if so, that could be really positive if people showed up with good ideas.
Stupid San Jose and not having BART /shakefist
Perhaps they thought the Mustafar expansion was going to be well recieved?

Glad to see this, at least they're trying to get it right.

They think a lot of things that are way off kilter, IMO.
