allright....I have major mixed feelings about these slicing changes....I don't see the logic in saying that weapons breaking down but that it's fun to have to camp for slicing components. W T F?

heres a question.. do you guys really WANT to spend a lot of time slicing? I know i dont... I'm going to slice my own stuff, if someone shows up asking for a slice i'm gonna tell them to go scare up some components, not just enough for the slice but a little extra for my toolkit as well, if they dont want to get the components then they are out of luck, unless i already have some components on hand in which case they can buy those off of me. what i'm not going to do is go out "farming" for components. I havent sliced anything in months and i dont feel any less smugglery than i ever did.

What'll end up happening is that groups will sell these loot drops to Smugglers who can't survive in there for outrageous prices, and Smuggs will have to charge even more to cover expenses.... if they can afford the drops to begin with.
Or, Smuggs who can actually survive will have a huge time investment just to be able to slice.
You mean kinda like pearls and crystals for Jedi?

Have you been to the DWB lately? Good luck getting anything from there. You'll die in 15 seconds.

Oh, and I reserve my right to b1tch and moan about the loot drop requirement after I've had time to think about it and see drop rates.

I'm not worried about lasting more then 15 seconds.. i've had some good gorups in there post CU and gotten quite far.
I am worried about drop rates under those circustances and the risk v. reward balance being totally out of whack. (read, they better be some DAMN FINE adjusted bonuses)

For example, rebuilding the firing pin (level 4 fire rate) or applying a feather trigger pull (level 3 crit chance) now requires a Delicate Trigger Assembly, which drops in Death Watch Bunker and Avatar Platform. We may have to tweak the drop rate a few times to get it right.
This stuff should go to Test Center in a day or two.
Anyone else think that is a bad idea?
If we need components for our tier 4 slices... that is really upsetting IMO. If I could buy the components from a CRAFTER or if I could craft them myself, I wouldn't care.
But having the components drop at the DWB (nearly impossible now) and the Avatar, that is some content that I honesly never participate in.
If the loot dropped from say high level factional NPC's or police units or something ( they could confiscate items ) would be a more logical way... OR even have the thug units of certain planets drop it...

No. Level 1 slices generally don't require a component. Level 2 slices
require components that are common. Difficulty of obtaining the
component increases with the slice level.

Weapon & Armor breakage has been removed.
Removed for three reasons: 1) It was difficult to understand the breakage system. 2) It happened too often. Although it could be slowed, 3) it just wasn't fun anyway.
I've adjusted weapon slice bonuses and costs across the board.
Adding a crit chance should now be more of a worthwhile gamble. Certain combinations of slices are no longer patently better than others. Different types of slices should be more competitive. However, the numbers are still subject to change.
Some slices will now require components to apply.
Slices are unlimited item upgrades. I don't believe they should be free. The breakage system was too harsh a penalty. Instead, I'm enabling plan B. There are 9 components used by the current set of slices. Components cover a range in rarity and the difficulty of location in which they drop.

Does that mean they will "tweak" DWB in order to make it survivable?

***** for GreenMarine for at least explaining the situation. Good stuff.
However: you might want to rethink the places which drop any components... the second of two places you've mentioned is currently more or less impossible to complete without a Jedi Master Defender tank (which will probably be a lot harder after Publish 19), and the first is pretty much impossible to enter for a group of Jedi Master Defenders...

I'll see about adding the drops to more locations to avoid a conflict with a too-hard DWB.

I dunno, GM. You know us Smuggs love ya, but I really, honestly thing that DWB and Avatar drops are way too much.
