Thread: Slicing Prices
EraHalcyon wrote:My pricing is more complicated. I have a 10k base price, 2k discount for covert imps, 3k discount for overt imps, an additional 3k discount for guildies (im in an all-imp guild), 6k overt rebel tax, and 4k idiot tax. I charge them the final amount. For example, an overt guildie would pay 4k, a rebel idiot pays a whopping 20k (which most refuse). I determine if the idiot tax applied when they first speak to me, and if they seem like an idiot of someone fit for the Chuckle thread, I apply it.
You charge guildmembers for slicing? Interesting.
BTW I love the idiot tax, I'd fully support a community standard idiot tax...though I would push for a 10K idiot tax like for the idiot that comes up to you in the middle of the Geo Labs while you are fighting and asks for a slice. Can't say how many times I've had that happen, because I try to forget idiots that profound, it's up there with the person who asks you to slice a set of armor as the shuttle arrives.
10k for a weapon;
10k for piece of comp, 70k for a whole suit (all 9 pieces)
a reduction for bone/ubease etc 8k per piece and 50k for a suit
For Mando and other rare armours (if it ever happens) then it would be like 20k per piece (seeing as if you got it, then you can afford to pay) and (if it ever happens) 150k for a suit of it
Also what is the deal with faction point...a mate of mine was a smuggler, and he was selling faction for 125 credits per point...is that a good price?
That's what I charge. newbs get scared off when they realize they can't buy their way up the ranks on the cheap, but your real FP money comes from experienced players anyway.

(Edit all subject to change if they ever go ahead with the concept of changing the way we slice (in concept boards) )

ARGH MY FORUM NEVER DO ANYTHING!!!
I charge 750k for speed and damage

I've only just started getting back into the games & profession.
While I pick up on the Slicing changes I've charged the following Flat Rates...
Level 1 - 25k
Level 2 - 50k (No component included)
Level 3 - 75k (No component included)
Level 4 - 100k (No component included)
If I have to provide the component(s) then extra charges apply.
From reading through the previous thread, it would seem I'm charging to much, so I'll await to hear from others and will adjust my charges accordinly.
What I also find from customers is the fact they are pleased whenI read out the Old Stats, aswell as the New Stats - Therefore they are able to see the number change on the Sliced Item.
That alone seems to bring back return customers.
I also try to bring some roleplay into the slice (e.g. Lets move to the spot over here, I don't want unwanted attention from the authorities...etc etc). It helps strike up a repor with people, which seems doesn't seem to be the norm with this profession.
I'm usually informed I'm the only Smuggler they have witnessed makes them feel like illegal activities are taking place and that they need to look over there shoulder.
Crickey, I'm rambling away from the thread topic of "costs" - I'll stop now!
Beer, Pie anyone?
Stop selling slices. tell your customers that we smugglers are on strike. we need our revamp that we have been promised and we are all tired of waiting for it. tell them that if they want us to start selling slices or trade faction or sell spice that they need to tell the devs to fix us.
slicing is so boring now. totaly waste of time as well. what good is slicing when all weapons and stuff have caps? no slice is going to make anything unique anymore, every weapons will just end up at its cap.
lets all go on stike and make the devs fix this broken profession.
I usually ask for people to go hunt down the parts they need, then send me a tell. If they do that, I let them pick their price. I've had tips anywhere from 25k-100k doing it that way. It's usually not a problem for me to meet them at a starport somewhere since I have a ship and can usually travel anywhere in seconds. I've also had a couple of people add me to their friends list doing it this way, and return business is always good.
If people don't want to hunt down the parts and I actually happen to have them, I take the going price for each slicing comp used and tack on another 50k on top. Needless to say, it varies depending on what they want done. For now I haven't been charging for simple toolkits and finely crafted toolkits used since I'm still using my stock of AUK's and WUK's.
I also traded a few low durability(? whatever those numbers mean) krayt pearls for a couple crates more of some artisans WUK stock. I live in a city near Krayt canyon, so it's not hard for me to score a couple of pearls a week if I try.
I could probably get more out of them by stiffing the jedi and jedi wannabes, but this saves me the hassle of auctioning them off and bidding on those crates.
This is what i was thinking of charging. let me know what you all think.

**You can save credits on your slicing by providing your own components**
If you provide your own components, you will be charged 15,000 per slicing step.
Example:
UBER DAMAGE has 5 slicing steps. If you provide your own components, you will be charged 75,000 cr
Top-Lvl Speed: 200K
Top-Lvl Crit: 200K
Top-Lvl Dmg: 300K
I get tells of how they 'have all their own components' and want a discount. Which usually means they want the top-lvl dmg slice in exchange for one Mandalorian Intraframe. So I simply stopped accepting ANY components as trade or 'discounts'. "For that price,"I reply, "we're using MY components. If you want to sell some of yours afterwards, we can talk."
