Reminder: Caylin was a little known person when he was appointed...and I have never seen anyone better (Smuggler or any other Corresp).
I am sure they are moving as quickly as they can ... and I bet they need approvals of busy people before they announce something.

Uh...Caylin? Little known? That doesn't quite go in the same sentence. At the time he was appointed, he was one of the most active Smugglers on the forums. It was really a toss-up between him and Kav (though I don't think Kav ever actually applied for the corr job and left the game shortly thereafter).
You may be thinking of Lodek, who filled the space between San and Caylin. Very little was known about him before he was granted the Corr job, and alot of Smugglers were like "WT-F?!?!" But, he turned out to be alright. And, if his things external to the game hadn't drug him away, I think he would've been GREAT. Alas, it wasn't meant to be, so we got Caylin.

Another thing to remember is that the person chosen is supposed to represent the profession and the people who work here on the boards. Its great for the person to have ideas and thoughts to share, and work with the community as a whole, but they shouldn't have their own agenda over the information gleaned from the profession.
I am not saying that Caylin or anyone else wasor is like this. But this role is a liason between the smugglers and the developers. It needs to go hand in hand.
Granted the person chosen should be able to discern important issues from silliness (real smuggling versus groin grabbing animations for one example), but they should make room to have all points of view represented.
In the end, it has to work and be balanced and fun, which is why a dialogue is so important. If we can't get X, can we get Y with Z? If not Z, how about Y with AA? Something along those lines.

Yeah, Caylin had long since covered himself in infamy and notoriety as one of the Smuggling Horsemen of the Apocolypse. Lodek was little known because, despite having been doing this since before launch he'd been scarce (in fact he had less than 2000 posts when he started as Corr. maybe even less than a thousand).

In order for there to be a protest over their choice, wouldn't they have to make decisions in the first place? How can we protest docs that don't exist? or revamps? Nah, they don't give flyin' feck at SOE who a cor is, they're quite versed in the talk to the hand mentality.

Lodek had around 400 I think but I firmly believe he would have been a very good correspondent given the time.
Yah, that thing was around that length by then... part of the reason it's woefully outdated now. Kinda had other thingsI had to work on, once I was given this position.
