Guess I'll jump on the other issues here real quick too now that I am not as... irritated at the personal attacks made by San.

Hardware wise we already HAVE inventory scans, so I guess it IS possible. Also I disagree that the technical hurdle now is the scans. I would be more inclined to say it's the problems they've had initiating Player Given mission systems.

The Devs have claimed technical challenges related to lag. I think this could be overcome fairly easily with the addition of another couple servers in the array, but that is just my thought. I agree on the Player Mission difficulty.

That's why we wanted to **edit** the contraband thing in the bud NOW. That's why we wanted stuff made illegal all the way back to BETA. What's the point of something even BEING "illegal" if there ARE no consequences? We never wanted to move someone's stash of spice. Ever. Or their gun. But we didn't want those things to be a given either. You can't tell me there IS no middle ground here. To automatically write it off because it's "hard" would be to negate the whole purpose of these forums. We've offered systems, solutions and ideas to try and implement this to strike a middle ground.

Agree wholeheartedly.

To address your THIRD concern, a lot of smugglers have said they WOULD take the hit to the pocket book if it meant actually smuggling for people.

And I'll agree here too. Same with Bounty HUnters - we would have given up the xp and possibly even any decent payment just to hunt players (other than Jedi)

And in your last point. Yep. You got it. Smuggling Mission Terminals that give out delievery missions ala the ones in the current mission terminals are NOT the end-all solution. It wouldn't be a bad start, but it shouldn't be the end result. But if we just throw our hands in the air and quit, that's all we'll ever get. Look at Bounty Hunters. They started with mission terminals. They were bored with it. It was a pointless role. The dev's gave them Jedi missions. Thus Player Bounties have been born. See? It's possible. Progression is possible.

Agree except that they instituted horribly bugged player bounties with Jedi, but that's another story.

Is it possible that somebody's hijacked San's keyboard?

Either that or he has a lot of bottled up rage. I imagine it's frustrating pushing for change only to hear "Next Publish... Maybe." So I can understand to some degree.

Although I was one of the "Wait And See-ers" can I get some popcorn too?

Was your post considered an educated response? If so then I must not know what an educated response is.

First off JT

What we have is a rare scan not something that effects players on a regular basis and
even with that lag is already there now multiply that by a thousand and you might
be close to what you would see as a result of regular scanning.

Secondly yea you wouldnt mind lossing spice business for delievery mission but
forgive me if I dont believe that most players feel that way.

And thirdly what you are asking for is nothing more then play payed delievery missions
Do you really believe that players want to wast there hard earned cash so you can take
a crate of spice to yavin 4 for them.

On a side not yes they are run on multiple servers but they are on a budget just like any company
and wont spend huge amounts of cash to increase the server farm size not to mention all the programing
it would take to put in new servers to the existing plan just so we can smuggle contraband
at least not until the next expansion.

Have hard facts? What is the cost per server? How many are needed? Or is this just speculation? I specifically stated I did not THINK that it would be that difficult.

Secondly yea you wouldnt mind lossing spice business for delievery mission but

Don't assume you know what the entire community thinks - take a survey.

One crate? No. A shipload (to stock a merchant) yes. Again, take a poll - don't assume.

I responded to this up top. Sorry if I sound like an ass - but you still have not responded to the personal attacks you have made and therefore I do not feel you deserve to be treated any differently than how you have shown to treat others at this point.

What bothers me is as I stated earlier - the personal attacks made that blatantly include the entire community - I.E. The post I reposted that you have yet to respond to.

First of all, hey, you may be right, I don't argue about the what the devs can and can't do with their technology. Cuz I don't know. You know something about it, I don't. So on this front, I'll concede. However, it would have been nice to hear that from a developer, especially since, given all the experience you have, you're still guessing (unless the devs told you this) because I can't count how many times people who know the industry were flat out wrong about what they thought they knew about how this game. I'll concede this point because I don't have the knowledge availabe. But it would have been nice after months and months of ideas about this very thing if someone told us, "Ehh. Shelve it. We can't do it." Th said "inventory scans" are out. So we came up with other proposals. Then they put in inventory scans. /shrug.

I don't know that, and neither do you. However I HAVE seen players say on these boards that they WOULD do EXACTLY that. People want to smuggle. (also, this is not a part of my arguement, just a personal note, I believe that there are MANY things the dev's could do to make the game harder that the players would say they hate but have a more fun game for, but that's aside). For their to be meaningful smuggling there has to be risk. For us and for our customers to need us. Maybe players will go for it, maybe not. But I think smugglers WOULD.

And do I think players would waste hard earned cash asking me to move a large shipment of contraband to Yavin 4? Yes. Actually I do. Some would just for the RP aspect. Others would need an incentive to so. All we've been able to come up with are punitive incentives. Perhaps there's a way to positively reinforce it, I don't know. But right now? Probably not. Why? There's no reason for them to. That's why we wanted the Crackdown to have teeth. Which it doesn't.

And as for your sidenote. I agree. However, I don't believe it's just a matter of getting more servers. I'm certain the devs have said that time and time again. More servers don't always equal bigger servers. It's not how many of us we are, it's how "heavy" we all are. But then I could be wrong.

I wasnt talking to you in the past and I see no reason to start now as for
details as to what an increse to a server farm would cost look it up your self
I have better things to do then educate you on the expenses of running server farm.

You pay 15 dollars a month to play a game the developers dont owe you explanations
for what they do when you become a stock holder you might but until then play the game
and ask for things dont demand things becuase you think you deserve them.

Where have I demanded anything?

I ask for what can be done, and I have demanded an answer to my questions of you, not the developers.

Although actually they do have to answer to the playerbase or they lose the playerbase and hence no game. Its a Catch 22

Except they opened the door to my expectations by having these forums at all, by not just listening but INVITING ideas, and commentary and dialogue with the playerbase ie: us.

Also, since the purpose of these forums is to have constructive debates and discussions about the betterment of the game we NEED such information from the developers. Otherwise we're just talking to the wind. Maybe the don't HAVE to give it to us, but it's in their best interest to give us such tidbits when asking for our suggestions.
