interesting perspective--

I'm sure we'll find out soon enough...

Though I doubt they'll like it...

I really do sympathize with the "live" entertainers though...(and yes, I AFKed my way through Entertainer, Dancer, and Music all for the sake of the little blue cubes).../ducks; /dodges; /hangs self...

Well its the perspective of a non-entertainer. I'm a combat player, and its just an opinion, no one needs to agree or disagree with my sentiment.

as a hologrinder, do you feel that hologrinding has damaged SWG more than anything else to date? (including uber buffs, the composite clone wars, and the solo group economy inflation)

Speaking as a player:
Funny question there. In some ways hologrinding helped out. Let me explain my opinion here: if it wasnt for hologrinding i woudnt have found i enjoy using a flamethrower so much I also woud'nt have made a small fortune as a BE on my crafter character for several months. im betting that some players had similar experiances with hologrinding, finding additional aspects of the game they enjoyed, but never would have tried unless pushed into it.
Also hologrinding helped to fill the cantinas with entertainers, and the med centers with doctors. It also helped to really boost the economy by selling lots of resources, and it gave many players a purpose, even if they never realized thier goals. I remeber before the hologrind many cantinas were completely empty. hologrinding got me and many others into those cantinas to try out the professions. I learned ALOT about this game during those months.
That being said, hologrinding is not the most "star warsy" way to get a jedi that i can think of. Thats why the new system was created though i suspect. Because its totally a cool way to become a jedi and really meshes with the game well.
So in my opinion i dont think it damaged the game.

I found out how great the Smuggler profession was after grinding it!

I give up...enjoy the hologrinding conversation, I'm out of here till I have something else bleak and discouraging to comment on.

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Two years of "Soon"(TM), a harsh bunch of lies.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie"

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Dancers can't smuggle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

grrrr...I love how someone blew in here and hijacked a smugger thread for hologrinding and the economy.

Back to the topic?

Goliath, what are your wishes for the the upcoming Smuggler Revamp...as a smuggler, forgetting you're a dev as you requested.

Well i think personallyI would like to see a more combat-oriented addition. Smuggler has some cool attacks, but i think we could use more combat based stuff.

and of course some form of smuggling, though at the moment i have no idea how it could be pulled off.

The new quests are great, but they are only a verysmall part of the new system.

However, the xp grind is much much worse.Everyone has their prefered method of grinding xp whether it be rancor valley, just walking around on dath, (previously solo group missions).etc and you have do this over and over and over and over again. I've literally fallen asleep while doing this grind. At least with holo grinding you changed professions every few days or ever week or so and learned about a different aspect of the game. And as far as being "Star Warsy", killing literally everything and I mean everything you see on Dath for at least 3 hours * hundreds of sessions, isn't any more star warsy, in fact I'd say it is less.

1. Mission Terminals - (glorifield delivery mission) - mechanics are already in game just need smuggler terms and missions in criminal theme parks. These mission can be done all day every day and xp goes to the Underground Tree. If you fail the mission you build up visablity points for the BH terminals.

2. NPC quest - mechanics are already in game and any or all Crime theme parks are all set for this. High end stuff like Spice and ship parts that can be sold to players for big $$would be your carge if we steal the shipment or fail we run a bigger risk of being on the BH terminals.

3. Tuffer Imperial crack down - (playergood's smuggling) - mechanics are already in game. Make random star ports (rotate it so its a player suprise)very tuff to get illegal good out of and remove the Imp and droid exploit. Players will have to group with us to get off world.

4. Jedi/Faction Tef masking - (player smuggling) - mask sent is in game so the basic mechanics are there. Smuglers should be able to mask a Jedi from the BH's andmask a tefed or overt player/group from another faction. So as to not over power this skill it only works for 10min once every hour, can failand while the player will look covert (blue not red dot) or drop off a BH's droid search a BH (if the jedi is in his sights) or opposing faction can still lock onto and attack if they see threw our trick.

The whole idea of Jedi in this time era is ludicris anyway... and if anyone actually watched the original trilogy, that's the ORIGINAL one mind you, the first, they'd know this; and if they actually DID like star wars, they wouldn't ever, ever create a Jedi character, that's just a fact. (and really, there is no good way to RP a jedi in this game... unless you never, NEVER go out in public with your gear/title out. Basically, if no one ever knows your a jedi, kudos, you managed to RP a jedi in Galaxies :smileysuprised: )

Now let's get back to talking about SMUGGLERS and SMUGGLING on the SMUGGLER forums... oh, and Goliath, since you are a Smuggler, and an RPer and an artist... and a Dev and since we're asking your opinion on just about everything, what's your take on holsters, and the effect they could possibly have on the game?

Faster weapon switching for one.

I can imagine weapons in the bracers of armour too, even faster.

We couldn't play SWG without Tiggs. Now we can =)

Hologrinding, uber buffs, the composite clone wars, and the solo group economy inflartion is no a problem.

The problem is... great enemies havent good loot, 75% damage reduction in PVP, 80% the weapons dont work in PVP, uber loot weapons, uber poison and no heal for damage mind.

Nerf uber loot weapons or delete, nerf poison, delete 75% damage reduction in PVP or low it, revamp loot for enemy level, stim pack must heal mind.

Armour and buff isnt a problem, the problem is the weapon, 80% dont make damage and only work mind damage in weapons and DOT.

Smuggler is a pistoleer and a unarmed fighter... pistoleer no works in PVP and TKA only make kinetic damage, no works too.

Well if we want bonuses... I could see a fast draw holster that give speed bonus. Or even more fittingly, if you equip the weapon sheated in that holster, it switch weapon immediatly instead of putting the switch in the combat queue.

But even if holsters are only there to look pretty, it would be a big improvement. Seeing everyone running around with weapons in hands when not even in combat look....weird.

I want a belt that fit me (I heard that it is a big challenge, making belt and stuff like that fit every character well, I know no belt or bandolier fit my Bothan well, she is too thin lol) and a blaster on my hip. For now I have to keep it unequiped and pretent to myself that it is in a shoulder holster under my spec op duster. lol

When in town I keep my weapon unequiped, unless I have a TEF. It just feel too weird, to run around weapon in hand as if I was about to start a killing spree. I could see a Smuggler keeping an hand near a ready-to-use conceiled weapon, but waving a blaster under others noses all the time? nah.

Sooo I think that's part of why you see holsters mentioned so often.

btw, I have seen several not strictly Smuggler related posts on several threads, why suddenly the fuss here? Specially since the thread topic is "welcoming SWG-Goliath", not specifically "discussing Smugglers issues with SWG-Goliath". I find the discussion interesting. I know of a friend who told me the best thing that ever happened to him in this game was being "forced" to drop his crafter that he was feeling kinda obligated to keep (only one of that type in his PA) to pick up Commando. Made him discover a new profession , avoiding "burn out". So I guess it is a "your milleage may vary" thing.

WesBelden: Oooh I like your ideas about holsters very much! Every time I get in town with my pistol in hand I feel a bit weird, like I should be challenged for that or something. And it so make sence that a pistol should be quicker to draw than a rifle.
