zounds,

This is relevant to smugglers form how? He's NOT here as a dev but as a member of the Smuggler community...or did you miss that?

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Two years of "Soon"(TM), a harsh bunch of lies.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie"

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Dancers can't smuggle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

That's all good and fine, but if all you can see is the red name, then what chance do i have?

In this game i have played every single profession (to get my jedi)

Before i even came to work for SOE i struggled with all of the players of this game with variouse issues, but loved it still.

My first character was a smuggler, and he still is to this day, and while i do sympathize with the smugglers plight, i manage to find joy in playing the part, and i can't complain about this until i see it played out.

That being said, if you would ratherI not post at all,I can keep myself in the beta forums. The last thingI want to do is cause undo stress in this community.

If you are willing to accept me as a fellow smuggler player and nothing more, i'll be happy to stay

I think I speak for the most of us if I say that we would like to see you here more often.

/whisper put something in your sig that you are an artist

I go now back in my shaddy corner and prepare more cynic, half-threatening ideas. Arrrr.

We couldn't play SWG without Tiggs. Now we can =)

If you're a smuggler you belong here - plain and simple.

It would be a sad day to see a fellow smuggler scared off of the forum.

If you can weather the next few days as people move from "Goliath = Dev responsible for our misery" to "Goliath = Smuggler" then things should be cool.

Cheers

So...Goliath...

Besides the RP and Slicing aspects of the Smuggler profession...

Have you tried anything else? What about Faction Point brokering? Or are you Neutral?

Personally, I'm working to Imperial Colonel now, so I can get back into the FP game again (used to do good Rebel FP business on Bria)...though I'm not sure what the market looks like right now...GCW seems pretty dead at the moment.

Speaking as a player:

Funny question there. In some ways hologrinding helped out. Let me explain my opinion here: if it wasnt for hologrinding i woudnt have found i enjoy using a flamethrower so much I also woud'nt have made a small fortune as a BE on my crafter character for several months. im betting that some players had similar experiances with hologrinding, finding additional aspects of the game they enjoyed, but never would have tried unless pushed into it.

Also hologrinding helped to fill the cantinas with entertainers, and the med centers with doctors. It also helped to really boost the economy by selling lots of resources, and it gave many players a purpose, even if they never realized thier goals.I remeber before the hologrind many cantinas were completely empty. hologrinding got me and many others into those cantinas to try out the professions.I learned ALOT about this game during those months.

That being said, hologrinding is not the most "star warsy" way to get a jedi that i can think of. Thats why the new system was created though i suspect. Because its totally a cool way to become a jedi and really meshes with the game well.

So in my opinion i dont think it damaged the game.

EDIT:I want to just mention here, Im personally not an entertainer in game.I LOVE entertainers and couldnt live without them. Buffs, and healing are thier specialty, andI want to point out the above is MERELY MY OPINION on this subject and NOT the opinion of SOE or anyone else. everyone has thier own opinions andI would hate to spend the next 25 posts defending this position. ThereforeI wont be responding to any posts that are argumentative realting to this. I was just answering a question that somone posed from my own personal perspective. Nothing more.

Wow, I've been playing the game for a year, and finally a Dev responded to a post of mine directly.

First of all, Goliath, I in no way want you to stop posting and that was not the point of my post at all. If anything it was a dig a Tiggs for making all this fanfare about a treat, which - when I read the title of the post - took to mean that something big was coming, like, oh I don't know, a discussion abouta revamp, maybe a ray of hope, a little shed light on why the spice downer was changed, or maybe when the autopull thing will be fixed.

What we did get was that they found that you were playing a smuggler, and that you are an SOE employee, an extremely talented artist who did excellent work on some of the spacecraft we all enjoy flying. That's not a bad thing, but its not what I expected as a treat. Having you here, although interesting and somewhat enlightening about the work you've done on JTL, changed nothing with the current smuggler situation because you are not in a position to effect any change. I am not blaming YOU for that, I am just largely frustrated with the how this profession has been managed.

I'm sorry that you took it as a desire for you to go away - if I wanted that, I would have said so. I don't - I'm glad you're here and willing to post with us from time to time. But we are not used to seeing an SOE person posting among us so casually, and its going to take a little getting used to. I also feel for you in the position you are in, because I know that people are going to want the inside "dish" and you aren't in a position to provide any of it.

As I said in my initial post way up there, welcome to the boards. It was sincere and I do wish you to continue to communicate with us. And I meant what I said about getting together with you on my server if you are so inclined. Look me up, I'm Shrendyc there, too.

and I too learned alot about the game that I wouldnt have learned otherwise most likely

hehe, yeah Tiggs was getting beat up pretty bad for ignoring us...though I doubt doing an introduction post then disappearing again without talking to us about our issues is going to do much for her in our eyes.

Come back Tiggs...engage us.

I'm rebel actually.I have brokered some. Funny story about that. Me and a friend whoI met in game back in the begining both did smuggler together. We have both been smugglers and unseperable scoundrels for over a year now. He and I messed around with buying and brokering FP so that we could both get colonel, along with some other smugglers on our server. Cool addition to our tool box of underhanded goodies.

grrrr...I love how someone blew in here and hijacked a smugger thread for hologrinding and the economy.

Back to the topic?

Goliath, what are your wishes for the the upcoming Smuggler Revamp...as a smuggler, forgetting you're a dev as you requested.
