here's my thoughts on what Rudd is doing
Perhaps he isn't really slicing 40-45%, but is instead tricking people into thinking he is. He has a crate of high quality cdef weapons. So when someone gives him a weapon that is cdef, but not as high quality, he slices a high quality one and gives them that instead. Then a 30% increase on his high quality cdef appears to be a 45% increase over the original cdef. In that case he is not exploiting a bug, just people's gullibility.
If this is what you're doing than it's very clever, although not ethical, and probably shouldn't be charging people any more than for a regular slice.
If this isn't what you're doing I'm sorry to imply any kind of trickery on your part
I, for one believe Rudd.
I would love to find his secret, butknow better than toask (He isnt being uncool, just protecting his profits, signs of a true smuggler)

my personal best slice on a weapon is 38%.. im always using 96%+ wuks, non experimented knives and clamps.
40% yes, 40%+ i dont believe until i see from my own eyes.
Rudd can you confirm this is not using a skill enhancement tape ? or 100% experimented WUKs
Cmon man, do the classy thing, share the info, and then bask in the gratefulness of not only all the smugglers, but all the people we slice for! Not to mention being able to say 'i told you so' to all the people who don't believe you. 
Sorry guys, I was in your corner until this evening. Got a 45% slice on a piece of Chitin armor for someone. The rest were all high 30s. No explanation. Those exact same tools and exact same process failed to produce any more45% for the remaining 20 armor slices that night.
Rudd was right.
I don't know of any Master Smuggler who hasn't gotten 45% on armor.
, I haven't noticed any consistency with WUKs, FANs, clamps, experimented knives or anything. It all just seems pretty random to me. Using identical equipment I can slice a CDEF that I made myself for 14% or I can end up slicing it for 29% (and that was at Slice II). It just seems random to me and I've yet to see any differences to convince me otherwise. I wish it WASN't random, though. I wish that things broke down differently for the different slice levels,though that might make climbing the slicing tree that much more difficult. I dunno. I just wish there was SOMETHING that could be done to make things less random.

My thought exactly. I've sliced armor for 45% quite a few times myself. it can be done, there is no disputing that.
My best slice on weapon was 37%. Since it is an odd number, I assume the ceiling must be 40%.
But slicing weapon for 40%+? I will beleive Rudd only when it can be repeated and verified by someone else. Preferably, more then once.
My only thoughts (and I've heard this before but not on the smuggler forum) Is that the weapon itself decides the slice.
Q. Has anyone tried getting a crate of identical weapons and using a powerup in one and nothing in the next one? Would making the damage of the weapon give a higher slice?
