You never know folks...if this is talked about enough then the dev's might - just might - take notice of it and something could be done. It really wouldn't take alot to get this done and moving - yes, I know the devs are right now concentrating on JTL (and the actual smuggler revamp), but it would just take a combination of things like BH missions on opposing syndicate members and a slight tinkering with what is already used for the rebel v imperial pvp system to get atleast the basics of a syndicate v syndicate system going. All in all I would really love to see this put into the game - maybe it will be, maybe it won't...but if we bug the devs enough by continuing to talk about this then maybe we'll atleast get some response from them one way or the other

Oh... my... gosh...

DEVS!!!! DEVVVVSSS!!!!! IF WERE TO ONLY TAKE ONE MORE POST OFF THE FORUMS AND APPLY IT TO THE GAME, LET IT BE THIS ONE!!!

I think that has to be the coolest idea for a profession I have ever heard. It solves alot of the problems with the smuggler revamp and player bounties... I like it alot and while it does seem like wishful thinking, I think the devs should give this some serious consideration. It seems very well balanced with a good amount of benefits to the crime lord but a heavy investment to balance that out... skill points, money, vulnerability...

One suggestion to dodge the problem of server overload with syndicates would maybe be to make criminal syndicate a guild option that can only be started by a novice crime lord (or above if they've been getting their points through jabba, valarian, nym, etc.). Syndicates would essentially be a guild/player city with the perks mentioned in your layout. The main difference between a player city/guild and a criminal syndicate would be the power of the crime lord and the fact that the members of the syndicate would be left open to attack from other syndicates.

I think the whole idea is brilliant and I hope this actually becomes viable.

Caylin, here's an idea to add to the Bounty portion and enemies portion.

Lets say that a player(Joe, for sake of argument) decides he's gonna start NPCs that spawn as protection for people in Boss Heth's syndicate. Let him lose syndicate faction based upon which NPC's he's killing. If Joe kills "Boss" Heth's NPCs the player Heth, is allowed to place a bounty on Joe, once the faction drops down low enough. Also, Boss Heth is allowed to make Joe an enemy when Joe loses more faction. Basicly, a rough estimate would be, Bounties are allowed to be placed upon Joe by Heth when Joe reaches -2000 syndicate faction, and if Joe reaches, -4000, he may be declared an enemy of Heth's syndicate.

The Bounties would act as a deterant to get Joe to stop killing syndicate NPCs. If that doesn't work, the enemy marking will make it harder for him to show his face in Heth territory. Why? First of all, Joe, who worked himself to at least -4000 faction will be freely attackable by any of Heth's player minions. Why only players? Lets go on the notion that now, the Heth NPCs are frightened by this individual, who's said to be so deadly, and such. Sorta like infamy among the NPCs. They'll fight back if attacked, but won't start a fight with Joe. However, if any of Heth's NPCs see Joe waltzing through thier turf, they'll alert all members of Heth's syndicate. Basicly, a system message will show, saying something like, "Your Boss' sworn enemy, Joe, has been sighted at x,y." all members get the coordinates, and then those who want to, get to go after him.

Now, for the single player enemy to be worth-while to member's of Heth's gang, he'll have to be worth a tidy sum of syndicate faction, money, and perhaps a factional item reward that has been put up for grabs for "whoever brings Heth Joe's head on a platter".

But how will this work if multiple are going after the same thing? Simple, base it upon damage. If three people take on Joe, the faction point and monitary reward is divided based upon percentage of damage, plus, the person who did the most damage to Joe gets the factional item reward.

Yeah, its rough around the edges, and might be extremely difficult to impliment, but it'd be nice to have it there.

This has got to be one of the best ideas I've seen in a long, long time.

Extremely well thought out.

The player generated content alone that this would create would be staggering, and not to mention (yes I know you are all tired of hearing this phrase) it would put the Star Wars back into SWG by leaps and bounds.

That's basically what I did. I think there should be options for new schematics allowing for different styles of clothing as well though. It goes along with the idea of uniforms for the guards, etc.

The items appearance would be determined by the crimelord, it would be up to the tailors to choose what they craft and how much.

*edits in* as for attacking because of colors... well everyone is 'overt' 24/7 once they join a syndicate to any rival gang. So that wouldn't be really needed I don't think...
