Woa... uhm... did he actually givea pearl of wisdom there or was it just that old saying " if you throw enough words in an answer, people forget the problem"?

Ok, here are my results...sliced around2 crates of survial knives to get slicing 4 today and wrote them down. Obviously an "s" means speed slice and a "d" means damage slice. The bottom of the first column goes to the second one. Everything looks normal, except for the 2 long streaks at the end...I doubt theres a pattern.

The "Just because you have never captured the Loch Ness Monster does notprove that it does not exist" theory stops applying as soon as you begin to examine real data. It is a great philosophical statement, and a stereotypical psudeo-scientific approach for debunking that which one does not agree. Unfortunately, it has no usefull placeoutside of the classroom.

It is one thing to theorize that something outside of current observations may exist, quite another to state that it does exist. That is the only argument being made against a>35% weapon slice cap. By your logic, neither a weapon slicecap of35% NOR weapon slice cap at some number above 35% exist, as niether are completely provable. While the philosophical basis for your logical aproach here is valid, it is unusable for drawing scientific conclusions of any kind, about anything.

It is far more usefull to take a nearly solipsistic approach, that is: Only what I have seen exists. The reasonthis is the soundest approach in this case is simple. I can only measure what I can observe. I can only understand what I can repeatedly observe. And finaly, I can only draw a conclusion that falls "within a reasonable amount of scientific certianty." Concluding that " > 35% weapon slices (non-exploited) exist" cannot be done within a reasonable amount of scientific certianty.

Regarding your lack of "legendary" and "exceptional" loot: You have observed some at some time, perhaps first person, perhaps through a galaxy auction. These are therefore "observable", and therefore can be proven to exist within a reasonable amount of scientific certianty.

If you don't want me to "play the forums," then I suggest you make time playing the game more rewarding and less repetitive than "playing" here!

Dreven I got a lot of respect for you bro, but I just wanted to make one little correction to what you said.

The slicing percentage recieved from the powerup exploit is, in fact, accurate. The reason the damage numbers seem way off is because the powerup stays on the weapon and is not destroyed when the weapon is sliced. Once the powerup is either removed or used to the point of extinction, the gun will have the accurate value concurrent to the original registered percentage.

Actually...here's what happens...

If I get banned for posting this, I get banned, but oh well...I've canceled anyway.

Say I tested this on a CDEF pistol with the following stats:

Min Damage: 25

Max Damage: 50

And I used a +30% max damage powerup, which in this case is a 15 point gain.

That makes the max damage 65.

Now, I get a 35% damage slice. 9 point gain to Min...23 point gain to Max.

That makes the stats, with powerup still attached 34-88.

After the powerup is removed, or wears off, the stats then drop to 34-73.

I'm assuming this is because, even though the powerup is no longer on the pistol, it retains the 23 point gain from the powered up slice, instead of refiguring it to a 17-18 point gain it should have been without the powerup.

The net result shows the accurate 35% slice on min damage, but the math on the max damage shows it to be a 45% slice.

Now, if they've addressed this and it is no longer possible, more power to them. But that's what it sounded like happened in the post that started this whole debate that's been going on for the last 2 pages.

I think it's funny when people (myself included) apply their career way of thinking to things like this. The original poster most likely has a job that has something to do with math, computers or the like right? There is nothing wrong with it,but this is just a game and to think that patterns were put in slicing on purpose is just silly. But I don't know very much about computers ,I can turn mine on and run it,so I may be wrong.

On that same 38 percent damage slice, the math equaled an actual 42 percent slice.

Oddly enough, using the same math I just used in my previous post, I experimented with a few numbers.

Guess what I discovered...

A +30% max damage powerup combined with a 33% damage slice comes out to net approximately a 42% slice.

"But it was a 38% slice, nimrod!"

Given that system messages are sometimes hard to read, I've often had to doublecheck the numbers because 0, 3, and 8 often look alike depending on where you are and what's going on in the background at the time. Not saying you can't read, but I've made the mistake of reporting inaccurate numbers more than once because of this...then having to correct myself after I doublechecked.

Well now I've followed this discussion for some time and it seems to me that slicing is generally chaotic. I have never been able to slice a set of armor for only effect or encumb. I have stories about how I've been having mixed results for 20 slices in a row, I've even had no less than 7 speed slices in rowon 1.8 speed scoutblasters... two of them Krayt... just to slice for a guildmate afterwards and getting damage. As I see it there's no order in slices... just chaos.

Even though I've got pretty bad slices on good equipment, I really like the unpredictability of slices. It makes me feel more like a smuggler. I gamble with my equipment and sometimes I win, sometimes I loose. It's like fiddeling with a motor or a computer in order to get a little extra from it... sometimes you **edit** up and other times it works out great.

Anyway I prefer to just play the game as it's intended rather than spending timemaking up theories on things that allready has theories. As many has pointed out... if you really want to know how slicing works... then go analyze the code.
