Ello crew,
Ive been playing swg off and on for over a year, im currently BH been attracted to it cos its such a pivotal role in the movies. Ingame however I aint found it much fun, i want to play this game to get as much fun and excitment out of it as possible, if this entails causing other people excessive grief, well its not for me, dont get me wrong i dont mind rubbing people up the wrong way from time to time but a spam of hate tells fromhurt peopleisnt what im in swg for.
Im currently looking at smuggler, Id like to make some big bucks out of it, which BH certainly doesnt provide, but ive noticed theres not so many about these days?
Is this an under exploited market place, or is there something i need to know?
My current templates BH3040, TKM, with some FS lines thrown in there, but im not thinking jedis for me.

Well since you asking us what we think about smuggler proffesion. We love it
Even though alot of things for us is forgotten, and some lines in our proffesion is useless we still remains smugglers.
They have promise us that it will be fixed in the Smuggler revamp, but when that is we dont know.
Sure you can make quite some money in this profession, but there is other proffesions that will make more money for you. So ask your self, do you want to be a desiving, hated, loved person. If the answer is Yes then go for it

For me, I love being a smuggler because I enjoy some light RPing and can push into heavy RPing as the siuation requires.
I speak in code when dealing with "business contracts." I don't trust someone if I don't know them. My services are only provided to guild members that I feel can be trusted. I never stay in one spot to long, and always sit in the corner with a clear view of the exit and my hand on my blaster.
For me, its become a lifestyle in the game. I mastered smuggler on December 4th of last year and have not dropped a single box, nor do I ever plan too.
Is it the most reqarding profession? Depends on what you consider a reward. For me, I enjoy the "reward" of being able to play out as a character that I probably wouldnt consider in real life.. probably
Now until they implement some kind of system to actually make smuggling/slicing illegal in game I have to pretend to be paranoid. But hey, every job has its "perks" right?
Short answer = I enjoy the lifestyle.

Smuggler isnt a choice, its a calling. I love smuggler when I first heard they were gonna make this game I wanted to be a smuggler, mastered over a year ago and have never even thought of dropping a single box. I seem to be the person who can "find" stuff, whether it be simple resourses, or a piece of rare loot. (I have the worst luck looting things myself). Its by far the best RP profession , although most people dont like to RP.

It's not so much an unexploited market, as it has just become such a pain to do the things that make the profession worthwhile.
Inventory management as a Smuggler has become a nightmare. Used to, I could do a suit of armor with minimum problems in about 30 seconds. Then they "fixed" something that caused our tools to no longer automatically pull from their crates, which added time and increased the amount of inventory space necessary to take care of this. Now they "fixed" the inventory sort, so more often than not, if you're not on your toes, your customer's items will get lost amongst your own inventory.
And that's just Slicing...
Once upon a time, all of the specials in the DF tree actually worked and were useful to some degree. Now, Low Blow and Last Ditch are both fully functional, Panic Shot is useless, and FD is only halfway useful to Smugglers, but BH and Jedi will soon have that semi-usefulness nerfed completely.
And Spices...spices are the brunt of jokes at Chef conventions. Spices used to be useful (and some are still semi-useful, depending on who you ask). But, along came UBER Doc buffs and Chef foods. Now Spices that once sold for 15k+ per crate are bargain basement items on vendors and bazaars, with Smugglers basically begging people to buy them.
However...if you're really wanting to make credits...and you don't mind a really mind-numbing, time-consuming task. FP brokering is definitely right up your alley. The only problem being...the GCW is DEAD. So, FP sales come few and far between. Oh...and for it to be profitable, you need to be factioned, and you need to have the highest rank possible (Colonel).
All that said though, Smuggler is an awsome profession. Not because of our skills (or lack thereof), but because of the people in the profession. And THAT is why I love being a Smuggler.

I became a Smuggler because I wanted to be "illegal"... which is also why I joined the Rebellion. I wanted to feel the pressure and fear of the Empire. While that idea went down the crapper, I still like to pretend I'm being hunted by the Empire.
But being a Smuggler is fun... even if it is just the thought of it.

I'm a Bothan Smuggler...what's not to enjoy
Honestly it's the roleplay aspect. I wear my Master Smuggler title with pride also because of this community. We could so easily complain and leave our profession because it is broken but we don't. We stick together (usually
) and wait out the storm. I thoroughly enjoy Roleplaying my smuggler. She's pretty nice, looks pretty innocent, but watch out she is a member of the underworld....she's also a TKM and can kick arse pretty well
Also I do actually enjoy slicing. My favorite part is when I get a bad slice I tell the customer they didn't pray hard enough. It's ALL about the praying...I start every slice job by telling the customer to start praying

Wow, I'm glad you wear your "Master Smuggler" title. I don't. It's not that I don't want to, but once I enter Theed or Coronet I get tell hell from people wanting slices. So I usually just put up "Rebel Alliance Ace", or if I want to take a chance, "Rouge".

You know it's odd...and I don't know if it's just Tempest but I can run around with my Master Smuggler title up practically all the time and never get a tell from someone needing a slice. We are a lower population server though. And when they do send a tell I charge 10k so *shrug* sometimes they choose to find someone else which I'm ok with.
Then there are times I put my TKM title up just cause I like it to...others I take all tags off because I roleplay a lot and it just looks better not to have a tag up.
But yeah I more proud of my Master Smuggler title than any of the others.

We are NOT smugglers. I repeat; We are NOT smugglers. We smuggle exactly NOTHING. That makes us non-smugglers.
I'ma non-smugglerbecause I'm so incredibly stupid that I have continued to believe we will one day actually be smugglers.
I'm too old to get any smarter so here I am...a non-smuggler waiting to be a smuggler.
I suppose SOE thinks that since I continue to pay them I'm perfectly happy being a non-smuggler. Well, I'm not, I'm just too stupid to stop paying them.
