Thread: Perfer not being a BH
Smuggler, Master Marksman, MPistoleer, carbineer. Dont think I need much defense as long as I can control you...I'll see how beta goes.

and I think Crowd Control will be VERY effective solo. Or at least it should be.

Zane, are you saying the Smuggler 'mezzing' skills will only be useful in groups?
That would be kind of lame IMO, I think of a smuggler as more of a loner.
If the same is true of Pistoleer, that it's better in a group than alone, then I'll be thinking hard about giving up Pistoleer for BH though I certainly don't want to.
Kind of late replying to this, but I haven't been on the boards as much lately...
What I was saying is that you should pick your professions based on your playstyle. I'm more of an in your face combat type. Even when using ranged (I really need to change my sig because I've drasticly changed my template) I usually use it at a very close range. I also kind of go all or nothing. I dive right in and hope I can sort everything out. Because of this, and at this time, I think MS/MBH will suit my style more.
Like it or not, I really think mezzing/crowd control will be most beneficial in a group. RL have kind of kept me from testing this though.
I really think the "punch" that the docs say BH is supposed to have, along with the ability to delay or take your opponent out of the combat loop for a time would compliment each other. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it works out though. If it doesn't, I'll probably choose carbines as a second class. Pistols and Smuggler would really have to stack into something spectacular for me to use Pistols in my template. Otherwise I see it as being redundant for my playstyle.

I just want to say I see alot of ppl wanting to be damage dealers by adding smuggler with other professions...I think that is fine and all...do want you like but wouldn't you rather have skills to be the best mezzer(crowd control) as possible? More than likely there will be more people playing in groups so more than likely there will be damage dealers in the group. Everyone doesnt have to deal damage...play your role, that is what this whole CU is about...to me at least.

You also have to think about what profession combinationplayers had pre-CU. I am/was a Master Fencer as well as Master Smuggler, but after looking at the documents, MBH+MS will be closer to my current play style then keeping MFencer & MS.
only thing that wories me about the MBH+ MS template is....where am I going to find all of these credits to purchase all of these wonderful, wonderful toys from.

Am I just nuts b/c I'm not going planning on a double master after the CU??
I was thinking BH 3x4x (pistols and hunting NPCs)/Commando x44x (big boom)/Master Smuggler -- with a few points left over to play with. Am I setting myself at a horrible disadvantage?
well...you certainly will be cheating yourself out of HAM..could be wrong though. Mastering professions also lets you use *the best* weapon that class has to offer.
Just my opinion anyway
